I'm actually kind of shocked that no one has started a thread entitled "Cow Tipping"

For those who watch on an annual basis, I'm wondering what you consider some of your more memorable moments. First that comes to mind for me is when the Vikings failed to make their pick on time in 2003. In the ensuing chaos, the Jags ran to the podium to pick Byron Leftwich, then we did the same and took Jordan Gross. I couldn't believe what I was seeing

Willis going first overall is definitely the kind of thing that I could only see happening in a dream Ironically enough though, Jason LaCanfora's mock draft has us trading down with...the Vikings at #12. Doesn't have us taking Willis though (Kenny Pickett).

From Albert Breer's final draft notes (link) • I’d take note of what Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said at his press conference the other day about looking at trading into the teens. Going that far down, rather than making a shorter move, would allow Carolina to recoup the second-round pick it lost in the Sam Darnold trade. If you consider, perhaps, a trade with Houston, you can see how it would work. The Eagles pick 13th overall, and that pick is worth, per the draft value chart, 1,150 points. Houston’s second-rounder, 37th overall, is worth 530 points. That gets you to 1,680 points, which is right in the neighborhood of the value of the sixth pick (1,600 points). We also, for what it’s worth, did a fake trade in the Tuesday rumors column that illustrated all this, and showed that to get Washington’s second-rounder in a move down from 11 to six, they had to package a fourth-rounder with their pick.

Given his contract and how indescribably awful he looked for a significant part of last year, I'd be surprised if we could get a ham sandwich for him. But ya never know. There were actually teams inquiring about him earlier in the offseason.

He's right though. Not like most mock drafts are all that accurate anyway, but they get even worse when you overthink them.

Fair enough, though I think ESPN has gone downhill quite a lot. Me and two of my closest football friends used to get together to watch the draft every year. Whenever they introduced Kiper, all three of us would say "Who in the hell is Mel Kiper?"

FYI: Brugler has us taking Charles Cross in his final mock as well, but thinks we're itching to trade down. For the curious, Kenny Pickett goes 20th to the Steelers and Malik Willis goes at number 32 to the Lions.

6. Carolina Panthers - Charles Cross I could see the Panthers trading a future pick to move ahead of the Giants and select Evan Neal. If they stay at No. 6, Cross makes sense. Or they could attempt to trade down. There's still a possibility Carolina looks for a QB here, as well. Mock Draft 4.0 Granted anything is possible but I have a hard time seeing it

The worst leadership typically comes from people who don't know what they're doing, but think they do. Even with his "I know I'm stupid" comments, that's pretty much been a fitting description of David Tepper for the last few years.

Cliff Notes version: Don't be an a--hole

If you're someone who doesn't want to hear or see picks tipped online before they're announced on TV, here's a simple, obvious "tip" for you: Turn off your Twitter notifications. There are certain reporters who have no issue letting picks be known before they're announced (Jason LaCanfora has been a big proponent of this) but the NFL gets rather annoyed when such things happen. That's why reporters that are affiliated with any of the league's broadcast partners (ESPN, Fox, NBC, CBS) have been asked not to engage in this practice. No such official prohibition exists for journalists who aren't part of those organizations. Some still choose not to do it, but there are many who do. Albert Breer, Peter King, Mike Freeman, Jason Cole and Armando Salguero have all been guilty of it in the past. Whether or not they'll continue this year is unknown. So basically, if you're someone who likes hearing the pick officially announced, you might want to avoid Twitter today. On the flipside, if you're the sort that does want to hear picks early, that's fine. Just don't share them here. If you do, The Ban Hammer is likely to be headed your way

"I'll take 'How to make people cringe' for a hundred, Alex" David Tepper's been wrong about a lot of things, but I'd have to rank this idea as one of the biggest. I absolutely get the idea of long-term thinking, and I support taking the time to build things the right way so that you have a perennial contender rather than just a flash in the pan. But there are two major issues here... First off, more than one team has shown that it doesn't necessarily take forever to build a team that stays in contention. It can be done quicker...if you have the right people doing it. Second, and potentially more problematic, the famous "Steeler patience" with coaches. Yeah, it's worked for them, but do you see them hiring mid-tier college coaches? Oy Right now I'd say most fans view another year, or God forbid another two years, of Matt Rhule being in charge is an absolute nightmare scenario, and it's reasonable to do so. It has been reported however that there are actually some within the organization (read: probably one) who think Rhule year three will be some miraculous turnaround just like it was in college. I'm not buying. Hopefully by year's end David Tepper isn't either, but if that fan nightmare rolls around and despite yet another sh-t season, he decides to give Rhule one more chance, probably going to break a lot of people.
