So he'll be fine as long as our coaching staff makes smart decisions? Oy

Have mentioned it before, but after Tepper got here some folks built up this mythology around him as if he were some super competent leader that would never accept anything less than the best. Basically Captain Kirk in an open shirt... Reality unfortunately has been... disappointing. The real life David Tepper is closer to Michael Scott than James Kirk. He may have been a great hedge fund manager but as a football owner, he's terrible.

Sure, Ed. -
...says Phil Snow, on the advice of Steve Wilks Let me say for the record that I respect the hell out of Steve Wilks. And with that said, I disagree with this decision.

I'll never understand why people refer to "wanting to win" as if it were some kind of virtue. Hell, the Jaguars want to win. They just don't have the first clue how to do it. That was Jerry Richardson too. And yes, now it's David Tepper.

What are some positives to come out of the Tepper era?
Mr. Scot replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Football wise? Not a whole hell of a lot. Maybe Fitterer turns out to be legit once he and Morgan are no longer saddled with Matt Rhule. -
Old thread bumped by spammer. Nothing to see here.

Erickson wasn't bad. Switzer's been around for a while, hasn't he? -

Sure you do. In-between having lunch once a week with David Tepper, right? (and dating Morgan Fairchild) -

I think that's what a lot of people see coming. Well, he's been doing that to us pretty much since he bought the team, so it's pretty clear he's capable -
I think it was his ego that hired Rhule in the first place. He had to make a big splashy move and do something different than everyone else was doing just to draw attention to himself. That way when he succeeded where others had failed, he could thump his chest and point to how great he was. Except he didn't...because he isn't. He may, in fact, be one of the dumbest owners in the league. I've said before that Tepper is used to just being able to "big ball" his way through everything. He probably thought he could do that in the NFL too. Not going that well so far...

I wish... -
They're both college coaches.

To be fair, that's not his job. His role is to report what the Panthers are doing or thinking, not what he'd do.
-
He did the time we beat them before that.

I've never actually heard that confirmed anywhere. The one story I have seen confirmed was that Rhule wanted to trade down but Marty insisted on staying put and choosing Derrick Brown.
-
The things I'm talking about aren't primarily coaching related, but I do agree that's something to be hopeful for.

Worked out pretty well the last time we passed on one too... I liked Howell a lot last year. This year the shine has kind of come off. Mind you, I'd probably still be okay with him as a trade down, but not at #6.
