They may yet pursue a different one. -
To trade down, you have to have somebody who wants to trade up. We couldn't find a good trade offer last year, and that was with Justin Fields and Mac Jones on the table.
-
I wouldn't be shocked at all, especially if we sign a free agent tackle between now and then.
-
I'm pretty sure they're okay with how it turned out.
-
#5 is owned by a division rival of the Eagles.
-
I don't get the impression the Texans are exactly crying about the pick package they got in return for Watson.
-
In my fantasy world, we trade #6 plus an additional pick or player package for #5 and #7. That's not likely to happen, but it'd sure be nice
-
Pointed out elsewhere that the guy who holds the #5 pick right now is pretty good friends with our Assistant GM. A deal to move up a single spot wouldn't necessarily require huge compensation, especially if the two guys making the deal are on good terms.
-
Not that it has anything to do with Pickett, but I've long maintained that Carr actually could have been a good quarterback. But in his first few years with the Texans, he got the sh-ttiest coaching imaginable. They didn't feel it was necessary to teach him to read defenses. They just had him throwing to a spot depending on what the play was.
-
Word is that they think exactly that.
-
In a West Coast type system like we run, accuracy, touch and timing are way more important than a big arm.
-
...last season. Someone else confirmed that previously. Also said none of them were lost.
-
They've stated more than once that they plan to stick with Jones. Could be a lie, but I don't think so.
-
Moving up a single spot might not cost a heap. And as mentioned elsewhere, the guy holding the #5 pick is old friends with Dan Morgan.
-
Also occurs to me that if the Panthers got paranoid about somebody else trading up and snagging their guy, Dan Morgan's got an old friend running the Giants draft who might give him a fair deal to move up a spot.
-
I couldn't see either of them making it past the Steelers.
-
Pickett is almost universally considered the most pro ready quarterback in the draft class. Add that to the fact that he has history with Matt Rhule and I think a serious possibility emerges.
-
Gotcha. That I could see.
-
I have a hard time imagining Matt Rhule taking a "project" when he has no guarantee of being here beyond this season.
-
Well heaven knows we sent enough people to watch him. Per Gantt, we had a total of eight people at his pro day: Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer, Dan Morgan and Pat Stewart among them.
-
According to Gantt's "road show" article, our contingent was even bigger than we knew. The Panthers had head coach Matt Rhule and general manager Scott Fitterer at Pittsburgh Monday, along with assistant general manager Dan Morgan, vice president of player personnel Pat Stewart, college scouting director Cole Spencer, and area scout Eli Montague. They were joined by offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo and quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan. Damn
