  1. ...and in the process, confirms something he previously said was unknown. Watson was not willing to waive his no-trade clause for Carolina before the deadline, preferring to go to Miami. But now that the Dolphins have shut the door on Watson, would he consider coming to Charlotte? It likely depends on who the other interested teams are. Tampa Bay, looking to reload after Tom Brady’s retirement, has a stacked roster and ascending offensive coordinator in Byron Leftwich. More excerpts about various options... Deshaun Watson: Before the trade deadline, multiple teams offered Houston packages that included three first-round picks and two third-round selections, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Houston reportedly has been unwilling to move from that asking price for a player who — despite his off-the-field issues — is one of the league’s top quarterbacks and is still in the prime of his career. Mitch Trubisky: The Panthers could try to sign Trubisky to a short-term deal to either compete with or supplant Darnold, and it would not preclude them from taking a quarterback in the draft. But the Panthers have gone down this road before — taking a flier on a young quarterback who was a top-3 pick in the hopes he might flourish in a new system — and look at how that’s gone. Jimmy Garoppolo: Teammates rave about Garoppolo’s leadership and presence, but critics say he’s a game manager who needs everything to be right around him to be successful. That said, he’s an upgrade over Darnold and could be in the mix for the Panthers if they miss out on Watson. Derek Carr: The Panthers would be interested in Carr if he becomes available, but that seems like a pipe dream at this point. Kirk Cousins/Carson Wentz These two are lumped together because, while NFL personnel officials consider them a step up from Darnold, neither is the Super Bowl-caliber quarterback whom team owner David Tepper has said he’s seeking. Team sources said the Panthers never called about Cousins, whose $45 million cap number makes him unmovable without a new contract. Kenny Pickett/Malik Willis/Desmond Ridder All three of these guys impressed in their own way last week in Indianapolis. Pickett is the most NFL-ready quarterback in a weak class. Willis has a big arm and a high ceiling, while Ridder impressed the Panthers — and other teams — with his makeup and overall skill set. Given the quality and depth of the offensive tackles, Fitterer said last week that it probably makes the most sense to take a tackle at No. 6, but added: “That will come down to whatever we do in free agency.”
  2. Rodgers is saying the terms that were being reported aren't true.
  3. Starting with an old friend of ours... And a potential friend... Meanwhile on the social media front... And finally, in the wake of the Rodgers deal... Legal tampering period opens in less than a week, signing period on the 26th.
  4. I wouldn't say that. I'm sure as hell not dealing him just to deal him, and getting an awful player like Love in return is nuts.
  5. He's still in charge, and needs a good season this year to save his ass. Somehow I don't think options that revolve around building toward the future are going to appeal to him.
  6. Same owner that believed hiring a college coach and giving him full control was a brilliant idea...
  7. I could live with that. Not so sure Matt Rhule can, though.
  8. There are ten criminal complaints against him, including at least one by someone who isn't suing him. And now this... His taking the fifth doesn't exactly give me positive feelings.
  9. I'd rather not have a quarterback who I've already seen look terrible. And quick hint: the Packers have seen that for a couple of years now.
  10. Well, technically he did his job by letting us know. We just sucked at doing our part.
  11. Does this guy just like creating accounts? (I didn't find the process all that much fun myself)
  12. A healthy McCaffrey in a McDaniels offense? That's nightmare fuel if you're a DC.
  13. Nobody's interested in this bullsh-t, dude. Give it up.
  14. Been a long time since I've heard that joke. Still gives me a chuckle (Seahawk fans, not so much)
  15. Teddy is the quarterback who lets teams know they can do better.
  16. They didn't. USA Today read the story wrong. What they laughed off was the report that they had already made a call.
  17. Our team owner and head coach aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer.
  18. I'd say they believe they are. And I'm pretty certain they're way closer to it than we are.
  19. Especially after the haul they just got for Wilson. It's not terribly hard to imagine them turning that into a trade for Watson.
  20. I mean, they do have a Super Bowl win and they're an arrogant bunch, so I can somewhat see getting a chuckle out of their pain. I would grant though that I'd hate to revisit this board right after Newton was cut loose.
  21. I know that's what a lot of hopeful Panther fans are wanting to happen, but I don't think it's quite that likely. The term is "a quarterback away". If you have to add something else to the equation, we're not a quarterback away. Throwing that "offensive line" is not one position, it's several.
  22. Zero games played is arguably better than one game played rather poorly.
