  1. So prior experience / success was with Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning. Now he'll be working with our quarterback depth chart. That's a slightly...different...challenge.
  2. Posted. Granted, we could still go outside the box for a choice like Juan Castillo or Mike Munchak. I'm just not expecting it.
  3. Of the candidates we had, I probably would have taken Gruden. McAdoo had the most connections of anyone though. He's previously worked with Sean Ryan, Tony Sparano Jr and Kevin Gilbride, plus there's the Tom Coughlin connection. How good will he be? Honestly not real sure right now. I do know working with Eli Manning is a little different than working with our quarterback room.
  4. Marrone is currently employed. Warhop, Campen and Flaherty are free agents. Sparano already works here.
  5. We're Panther fans. When have we ever been guaranteed to get anything?
  6. Probably Jay Gruden. Between those two though, McAdoo has a pretty significant edge in experience at both the college and pro level. He's also got a rep for being a bit of an a--hole, so there's that...
  7. My pick too. That said, even with the pro to college comparison, if you had the choice to continue coaching under Nick Saban in Alabama vs coming to work for Matt Rhule in Carolina, you might have to stop and think about it.
  8. There are some decent choices available here, starting with... Doug Marrone Currently: Offensive Line Coach, University of Alabama Formerly: Head Coach, Jacksonville Jaguars (2020) If Marrone wants to get back to coaching in the NFL and doesn't mind working for one of his former subordinates, this would be a strong hire. George Warhop Most Recently: Offensive Line Coach, Jacksonville Jaguars (2020) Formerly: Offensive Line Coach, San Francisco 49ers (2005) Warhop Was the Jags line coach while McAdoo was there. Also worked with McAdoo in 2005 with the 49ers where McAdoo was his assistant. Has a pretty extensive resumé as an OL coach. James Campen Most Recently: Offensive Line Coach, Houston Texans Formerly: Offensive Line Coach, Green Bay Packers (2006-2013) Of the bunch, Campen has the longest tenure working with McAdoo. He's a longtime line coach, and fairly well regarded. Pat Flaherty Most Recently: Offensive Consultant, New York Giants Formerly: Offensive Line Coach, New York Giants (2014-2015) Flaherty also worked with Matt Rhule on the Giants staff in 2012. He was considered a possible OL coach option when Rhule was originally hired but I don't know that he ever interviewed. He's also a longtime Tom Coughlin associate. Tony Sparano Jr Currently: Assistant Offensive Line Coach, Carolina Panthers Formerly: Assistant Offensive Line Coach, Jacksonville Jaguars (2020) Promoting Sparano would be the path of least resistance, but he's only ever been an assistant line coach. Never held the full title that I've seen. ____________________________________ So who gets the job? Hard to say but if it were left up to McAdoo, I'd speculate that Campen, Warhop or maybe even Marrone (my choice) could be the guy depending on McAdoo's current relationship with them. If Rhule is making the pick, I'd probably bet on Flaherty. That said, he could have had Flaherty before and chose Pat Meyer instead so...hard to say. And of course, Rhule could just decide to promote Sparano.
  9. For what it's worth, McAdoo previously worked with a number of assistants already on staff with the Panthers. Specifically, Sean Ryan, Tony Sparano Jr. and Kevin M Gilbride. It's possible they endorsed him to Rhule.
  10. I thought so too, but it depends on what source you read. One (Rapoport, I think) said the Giants were really high on Flores as a candidate. Another (Breer, I believe) said they expected Daboll to be the guy. Someone else suggested Quinn was the top choice. A couple of different sources have said there'll be a "wide net" cast so at this point, who knows?
  11. Did we do a second interview with McAdoo? The only guys I remember hearing about getting second interviews were Scottie Montgomery and Jay Gruden.
  12. Mentioned a few in a prior post. Haven't gone further back yet so there may be others.
  13. I'm hoping, but I'm not expecting.
  14. Might bode well for Tony Sparano as far as the OL coach job. He was on staff with McAdoo in Jacksonville as the assistant line coach (so was Gruden). The Jags full time line coach was a guy named George Warhop. He's got a pretty long résumé and should be available. If we go back to Tom Coughlin connections, there's Pat Flaherty out of New York. There's also guys like Doug Marrone, Juan Castillo, Mike Munchak, James Campen and others but I'm not expecting us to go that route.
  15. Couple of connections here. The obvious one is the previously discussed Tom Coughlin connection. Rhule and McAdoo both worked for Coughlin in New York. McAdoo was also colleagues with Sean Ryan. Ryan was the receivers coach under Coughlin when McAdoo was his quarterback coach.
  16. Among the candidates we had, I'd probably have voted for Gruden
  17. Granted, but I think the McVay effect is still in play as well though.
  18. Don't recall ever guaranteeing that they were, though again those evaluations are still up in the air. I'm more concerned about the areas where they've already shown they're doing a poor job.
  19. Fair point, but we don't know if Watson wants to play in a smaller market.
  20. Giant social media now officially confirming the hire... And then there's this...
  21. Or will he? Flores would certainly be interesting given the talk that Deshaun Watson would like to play in New York. The Giants do have the kind of draft capital it would take to make that trade happen.
