They've reportedly told Jonathan Gannon he's out of the race. Apparently down to Flores or McCown.

Mr. Scot replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
FYI... -
Definitely would like Buck. I'd have two questions, though... One, I recall hearing that his parting with the Panthers was somewhat less than amicable. Do those fences need to be mended or has a change in ownership made a difference? Two, perhaps more important, would he work with Matt Rhule? Not sure how Buck's temperament would sit with being under someone less qualified than him.

Yep. Oh well...

This Twitter is a good source for OL stuff.

Because not many teams bail on a first rounder, especially a top ten pick, after one year. Yeah it's happened, but it's not the norm.

Okay, I like this guy I don't know if we're gonna draft him (or even if we should) but I like him.

Reaching for a need, especially at quarterback, can set you back for years.
-
It sucks to think of that being the standard to go by, but I suppose it legitimately is.

A lesser Tim Couch?

I'm hoping we've learned something on that front. Mind you, I'm not counting on it.

If we take a quarterback (and I'm in the "hope we don't but think we will" crowd) I know both Rhule and Fitterer are high on Pickett, so I'd be surprised if he's not the guy. Willis being a project doesn't really benefit Rhule all that much in the "save my ass" quest.

Going back to what you were discussing before, if you're given the choice between "consistently good" and "occasionally great", always take "consistently good". I've seen "consistently good" turn into "consistently great" way more frequently than I can recall seeing "occasionally great" morph into "consistently good" and eventually become "consistently great". If you want an example, the hope of "occasionally great" turning into "consistently good / great" is what Matt Rhule was banking on when he picked up Sam Darnold.

Not that it would shock anyone, but yeah I'm a big fan of "nasty" blockers. Mind you, I prefer the kind that are smart enough not to do dumb things that hurt their team.
-
I haven't looked at where he's projected, but I'm guessing we won't get him with our current picks.

Numerology guy again?

If getting a safety let's you move Chinn to LB, is that a two for one?
-
Trevor Penning... Reports were that he was picking fights in practice. Some folks don't like that kind of personality because they can make hotheaded mistakes that hurt you in games. They also tend to play to the whistle and finish their blocks, so...
-
To be fair, we could use a safety. I'd be fine with getting a good one and maybe trying Chinn as a full time linebacker. With that said, I don't want a safety at #6 overall either.

Roster superiority is probably about the only chance Rhule has at winning. As a game planner and caller, he's not likely to rise above the college level. When your opponents are professionals, that's not gonna cut it.

Don't think there's a game thread yet. Lady Cowboy Fan's grandkids are visiting so I won't get to see it till later.
