  1. Very similar. The 17 game averages reflect that Carson was a slightly more prolific passer.
  2. He looked good in the preseason and wasn't a disaster on Sunday. I think he can develop into our IOL version of BC(who was pretty shaky early in his career too). If Zavala progresses, we will finally have something we haven't had for YEARS. Some actual quality OL depth behind a quality OL. This is why I have always been a favor of continuing to draft OL every single draft. That's how you build and develop a stalwart OL that can buoy your entire offense for years to come.
  3. There are plenty of candidates for that, actually. Plus they might actually just tag out on IR.
  4. Some of the moves you are talking about would also reduce the roster to under 40 players(the amount we currently have under contract with that ~$42 mil in cap space per OTC). That isn't including a QB salary(Dalton isn't on there) and when you are looking at maybe $55-60 mil in cap(if we do everything you say), it's going to be tighter than you think to sign almost 20 players, including a starting QB. The point being is that to have as little overall roster talent as we have, we should be looking more like the Pats, who have a projected $138 mil in cap space for 2025 with 39 players under contract. That's what a talent deficient roster amount of free cap SHOULD look like.
  5. I don't think people realize that Bryce isn't some super villain character in a Marvel movie. All these guys are on the same team. If they were at each other's throats or as backstabbing as people sometimes assume, we would be even more of a disaster than we are now.
  6. He has actually done fairly well in the 2011-current time period. He's firmly in the above average range, IMO. Definitely not elite. I don't view him worse than Derek Carr, for instance. I would say he isn't worse than guys like Goff, Lawrence, etc. Maybe not a high bar to hit but he's(career wise) probably at the top of the #3 QB grouping(Elite, Near Elite, etc).
  7. Age isn't a concern until it just suddenly is. More of these guys go out looking like Peyton Manning(minus NFL gifted ring) than they do Tom Brady.
  8. But also immediately incurs an additional dead cap lump sum, making it $8.2 total dead cap. The question is how much of that is "new" dead cap. I think it would be about an additional $6 mil, correct? If OTC is correct about the prorated bonus money, anyway. Either way, I am curious to see when they opt to move him. If he lasts into the 2025 season, I will interpret that as Tepper still doing Tepper things.
  9. It does acceralte to the current league year. If you read the rule, that is what happens. That is why they posted the $8 mil dead cap hit. That's all new dead cap.
  10. Well Dalton's contract runs out at the end of this season. Even if we do resign him, there is no guarantee he will be there more than a couple of more seasons. I think some of it will just boil down to what Johnson thinks of this scenario and the money we offer. If he is looking to win, this isn't the spot. If he is looking to get paid, it might be.
  11. I would not say he is a proven #1. That is what he is hoping to prove here. Dude, to be this cap strapped and also talent deficient is nuts.
  12. Yeah, he is developing well. I have high hopes he can be what Thomas was supposed to be.
  13. Yeah, people don't realize how bad our cap situation is. We can't be this low on the talent scale and also in cap hell.
  14. Yeah, he really needs to be getting his reps limited as soon as Thomas gets healthy. He is a project guy at the moment.
  15. Wait, wait....this is still not correct. The prorated amount on the 2024 cap is literally the 2nd year amount. He still has two years left on the deal. By rule, the dead cap for those last two years accelerates on to the current year(2024) and the following(2025). So it is an ADDITIONAL hit this league year. Just think of it as him being cut post June 1st(essentially what this is minus the actual base salary hit).
  16. I think it is going to likely boil down to him not wanting to be here so we might have to make a big overpay again.
  17. I see what you are saying, essentially this is money already on the cap because it is factored in. Then the remainder hits as 2025 dead cap. I wasn't thinking about that correctly as already being accounted for in the cap calculation. Given that, it actually would be reasonable to trade him with some limited finagling. That being the case, they should consider a decent offer. IMO, the ask should be a 3rd rounder. Overplaying the hand isn't really much of a risk. 4th rounders and lower are generally lower hit rate guys so the attraction to dump him for a 4th now versus a 5th or lower in the offseason isn't compelling. Wait it out until you get the price you want by the trade deadline. We aren't in a weak position this time.
  18. The intrigue begins and ends at being in cap hell without the ability to build a team around him. The one thing he has shown conclusively is that he is unable to elevate players around him, so bringing him here with substantially less offensive weapons than even the Jags have is pretty insane.
  19. Yeah, I think the odds of locking up Diontae beyond this season are slim to none. No matter, it gives our guys like Mingo and XL a measuring stick to compare against.
  20. Diontae isn't really a top tier one. Good player, no doubt but there aren't many teams he would be a #1. XL....well.....I have a pretty low ceiling for him personally so I just hope he can clear those bars. He's a pretty big project for an older player. I hope we have a coaching staff that can develop him.
  21. Yeah, outside the offensive line I am not sure any of these are tracking the way you are describing them. Way more questions than answers in that list. This is a post season thread with 17 games of ammo behind it.
  22. This is calling a lot of shots before many pitches have been thrown.
