  1. Also going to go on record as saying I actually really like PFR's AV stat.
  2. 100% agree. I get the homer instinct to jump on board and believe it was the greatest draft in history. I completely understand where that comes from. However, we have little data on the coaching staff and even less on the new FO. Having a healthy sense of skepticism is probably the best way to look at it. Let's just wait and see what it becomes. No overt judgment on it either way. Let it pan out.
  3. I would expect 6-8 guys to be on the roster in 3 seasons. I would expect 2-4 guys to be starters in 3 seasons. If we get 3-4 starters(for 2+ seasons) out of this class, it was a success, IMO.
  4. Yeah, that is for sure. For instance, Greg Little is not a JAG. That dude does not belong in the NFL.
  5. Yeah, all these leagues want to get that for free. The problem was that over time college athletics became massive, multibillion dollar industries in their own right. So, why care about developing for what the NFL is doing when you need to win at your level. That's why college has forced the NFL to change the way it does things. In the MLB and NHL, you weed out a lot of guys that wouldn't cut it by the minor league process. In the NBA and NFL, they go straight into the league. At least the NBA is starting to remedy that. I think eventually you will see the same in the NFL, although it may not be for 15-20 years.
  6. Agreed. Anyone who starts for a long time isn't a JAG. A JAG will bounce around the league or are fixtures as backups on a team or special teams before they are out of the league. Quite a few of the guys mentioned are not JAGS at all.
  7. That is what happens when you use college as your minor league.
  8. There are a lot of people here who don't really understand what a JAG is.
  9. Man that sucks. Cooper was a ferocious gunner.
  10. That's interesting. I would have thought it would have been more than that.
  11. Well, he also grew up around it. That sort of normalizes it.
  12. Yeah, I think it was obvious he was there working to be what those guys were. Hence the mistakes he was making and the trainer correcting him. The point being, he is learning what it takes to be a professional. Putting that kind of work into perfecting your craft and especially around elite CB's and NFL starters is exactly that. Really, the biggest advantage of Horn is probably being Joe Horn's son. I have zero doubt that he preached how much work it takes to become a professional. The hope is that accelerates his learning curve a lot. I expect Jaycee to get beat by some of these elite guys we have in the division early but perhaps only for a season or two. This was very exciting to see and I will give a counter example, that being the clip we saw of Jackson losing his cool a couple of seasons ago while getting coached/advised. I am glad to see Horn is already doing NFL veteran things rather than thinking they already have this figured out or are good enough as is.
  13. OP has taken a full gulp of the current Kool Aid. I am a lot more skeptical of the overall moves we made but I am willing go give our choices a "wait and see." I definitely acknowledge that if Slater or Fields turn into league stars, we might be looking kind of hard at our choices this past offseason. But, it's a "whole picture" thing. If Darnold miraculously becomes something he isn't, then it would be a moot point. Same for if Horn becomes a top 5 CB. The people arguing any of this is set in stone are completely absurd. Fields may very well bust, just as well as Horn or Lawrence or Sewell or anyone. They wouldn't be close to the first "sure thing" first round picks to not be able to make that jump or be riddled with injuries or have some other issues keep them from being NFL stars.
  14. Aight. Need advice. How do you exit a sports bar with a full erection?
  15. I would agree we are slumping. We need to win this to start that slump busting.
  16. Hard for me to express how much I want a seven game, injury riddled series for the Caps vs. Bruins.
  17. This is nerve racking. This is why I didn't want to lay down to them the last game.
  18. Yeah and I don't think fans appreciate how widely the specific teams draft boards vary, either. When people start going bananas skewering the media mock drafts that are outside the box, I don't think they realize that is also the case with a real NFL franchise draft board. The variance can be pretty large on single player evals. I thought Tremble was a reach because I don't see relatively one dimensional TE's as having even third round value. But, I also don't coach nor offensively scheme for the Carolina Panthers. So, my difference in opinion from them might be astronomical.
  19. I guess that means Marty Hurney is more qualified than us, in that case?
  20. Then why are you taking about college and studying?
  21. 100% agree. I think it was pretty clear how poorly Troy Pride Jr. played last year but I am not gonna write him off until the end of his 2nd or 3rd season without obvious improvement. We have Josh Norman, James Bradberry or even to some extent Daryl Worley as recent examples if guys at the position that took a little time and experience before the light clicked on. I am interested to see how the "spray and pray" draft method works with all these trades for lower round picks. I certainly hope that increases the chances of us getting more two deep players.
