The "factual" thing is those teams lost those games. The emotional thing is the "players didn’t play, transfer portal, etc." That has nothing to do with what actually happened. Unfortunately, it isn't going to get better. What is being laid bare is that there has never really been much parity in college football because it has always existed as a sport without a salary cap. This will continue until the facade drops, they actually are professional teams(have been for almost 40 years now) and there is a salary cap.

Every "I SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE PLAYOFF" team lost so far. Clemson was not in the class of basically any of these teams.

My biggest concern is that XL has more issues than just hands. He body catches, he mis-times jumps and he loses balls. These aren't rare enough events. I am just not convinced he is going to be able to fix all of that.

It just depends on the evaluations. I think he is a 1st round caliber guy but he isn't in most 1st round mocks. We will see what happens. If he makes it to us in the 2nd, I would sprint to the stage with that pick.

I generally don't think he is likely to be a "great" DC, but he could be in the above average to below average band. I don't care if we jettison him that much but have a plan to improve if that is what you want to do. A better candidate(for sure) and a better roster. If both of those aren't on the table, what is the point?

It's the worst defensive roster in the history of this franchise that spans 30 years. I would say that is quite the accomplishment by the FO.

Honestly, their first seasons are statistically fairly similar. Less TD's for Mingo but far less drops. 7 in one season vs. 6 for a career. I agree that XL is much more capable than Mingo of creating separation and getting open. I do think he is definitely worse as a pass catcher than Mingo, which is quite the statement. Mingo's issue is although he gets targeted fairly often(or did) he is rarely even in position to attempt the catch.
