  2. Smart decision on both sides: if Panthers would have cut him they would have saved $3.25 million under the cap so instead they do this: Tuttle was set to make $6.5m in last year of his deal. He’s taken a pay cut to $3m, per league source. $500k in guaranteed money.

  4. Re: #Panthers DL movement/Shy Tuttle’s future. Carolina valued him on team and wanted to keep him. Tuttle was set to make $6.5m in last year of his deal. He’s taken a pay cut to $3m, per league source. $500k in guaranteed money. He can make the rest back w/ incentives.

  6. The next stage will now be cutting players currently on our roster. - Miles Sanders - Yosh Nijman - Shy Tuttle
  7. Tershawn Wharton CARDefensive Tackle#98 Panthers agreed to terms with DT Tershawn Wharton, formerly of the Chiefs, on a three-year contract. According to FOX NFL’s Jordan Schultz, the deal is worth over $54 million, though we don’t have the full details yet. Wharton appeared in all 17 games for the Chiefs and totaled 6.5 sacks plus seven TFLs. He added two sacks and a TFL to that tally during Kansas City’s run to the Super Bowl. Wharton never ascended to an every-down role with the Chiefs but will have the opportunity to do so in Carolina. The Panthers have been aggressive in fixing their defense early in free agency, signing multiple defensive linemen on top of other key moves.
  8. you had it 1st Mike Jackson CARCornerback#2 Panthers re-signed CB Mike Jackson to a two-year, $14.5 million contract. Jackson was acquired just before the start of the 2024 regular season in a trade with the Seahawks and now remains with the Panthers on a new two-year deal. He played all but 13 defensive snaps for the Panthers a season ago and should remain the team’s top perimeter cornerback option moving forward.

  11. Panthers sign DE Patrick Jones (2 years, $20 million): A Grade The Panthers had the worst pressure rate in the NFL last year. It got better when D.J. Wonnum returned from injury, but Carolina’s inability to get to the quarterback was still a huge problem. Patrick Jones will certainly help in that regard. Serving as just a rotational player last year, Jones had seven sacks and played well against the run. He’ll be more productive in a larger role, and at 26, he has plaenty of potential.
  12. Panthers agreed to terms with DT Bobby Brown III, formerly of the Rams, on a three-year, $21 million contract. Brown has started 19 of the last 30 games he’s appeared in for the Rams, totaling 75 tackles, eight TFLs, and a half sack over that span. Despite the starts, Brown has been utilized as a rotational player, as the 472 defensive snaps he saw last season marked the most of his four-year career. The Panthers narrowly missed out on signing coveted DT Milton Williams. Brown is a low-end consolation prize that can still prove helpful in the right situation.

  17. Panthers agreed to terms with EDGE Patrick Jones, formerly of the Vikings, on a two-year contract. The Vikings drafted Jones in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was deployed as a part-time defensive end and a special teamer throughout his rookie contract, being credited with just five starts over four years. Even in a limited role, Jones broke out last year with seven sacks and nine TFLs. His contract, worth “up to” $20 million, signals that the Panthers will utilize him in a larger role going forward.
