REPORT: Panthers and Brian Burns not at all close to extension
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
that's why the post you quoted said I would take issue with the front office. -
I mean, we haven't had a winning season in a half decade.....and just entered a rebuild. The super fans are pumped but it's totally understandable the casual fans in the area aren't super excited. They get excited when you win.
-
KC should of highlighted Justyn Ross more. He blew up this preseason. He was a first round talent. Injury knocked him off the map. Think teams still get to fixated on where a guy was drafted. Toney does nothing but disappoint and he was essentially the primary play last night.

I'm a Burns fan. I'm not a fan of our GM doing dumb stuff. Hopefully Fitt gets him signed to a reasonable deal. And if he doesn't? I won't have an issue with Burns. I'll have an issue with the front office. -

Fitt already missed that deal. When you find someone being dumb you take advantage of it. -

Brians Burns is from Florida. He played his college ball in Florida. He isn't homegrown. He had little choice but to come to Carolina. It's business. Never get attached to players. They aren't attached to us. you need offensive stars on your roster in the modern day NFL. You can win without defensive stars. Easier with them. But it's an offensive league. A passing league. And pass rushers are important but even really good defensive lineman will tell you.....when a great QB is on he can make the DL talent largely irrelevant. -

I mean, GTD is what the whole thing is and really has always been about. -
Gross Matos is better against the run than Burns. No possibly wrong about that.
-
yeah, I mean he is clearly focused on brand building and setting up things off the field now. I think his brother comes off much more likeable.
-
Kelce makes a big difference. Think you got to shelf Toney. The plays were there. The other dudes on that roster can catch those balls.

refs tried to keep KC in that game by not calling the 192 false starts by the KC RT.

Why can’t the HC and DC say he is playing? I assume he took the field as the parties got closer. When it was reported they were far apart he wasn’t practicing. Now that they seem close he is preparing to play. and the HC and DC have to call it day by day because team Burns is likely claiming he won’t take the field to play with out a deal and they hope it gets resolved by then. -

I mean, not even the HC nor DC can say he is playing…. -
Falcons win a close and ugly game. - Standouts will be the 2 rookies. Young and Robinson. - I think much like the preseason, I think offensively Young will look really good to an extent without a lot of help. I think our WRs will struggle to get separation against a Falcon team that will be schemed up to play the small ball. - I don't think Ridder looks good. - I think Atl's running game essentially wins the game for them at the end of the day. - I think there will be a massive overreaction to it by the board.

top tier WRs are getting more guaranteed money than the top OTs. highest amount of guaranteed money in a OT contract presently is 64M. Several WR ahead of that. Same for CBs, several ahead of the lead OT in terms of guaranteed money. -
75ish guaranteed. Puts him at the top of tier 2 and not in tier 1.
-
Denver has a well built defensive roster. It’s why they could let Von Miller go and became a top 10 D with him at Rams. And why they could let Chubb go in season the next year after letting Von Miller go….and still finished as a top 10 D. Being well built should be the priority. Not dependent on one dude. Burns knee could go out tomorrow and you would have 120+ guaranteed sitting there if some got their way. and I’ve always been willing to part with anyone if and when the time comes. Which is never popular around here in the moment. We should of taken those picks. You got to take deals when they are too good. I clearly want Burns. But it doesn’t mean there aren’t limits to wanting him.
-
I would say there are a lot more than 2 well built rosters in the NFL.
-
well, as a team lead by Burns last year. we were bottom half of the league in pressure %, knockdown %, hurry %
-
for 120+ guaranteed? I'd rather go pay for a proven dominant DT and a dominant pass rusher. Because you can get 2 for the same price. Roster management. the best DTs have just been signed for 60. And some of the best pass rushers in the game just signed for less than 60. Market hasn't been flipped on it's head because of Bosa. The other Bosa, Garrett, and Mack already were getting stupid 100+ guaranteed. end of the day, I'd rather have a well built roster than a handful of studs. That's always been a Panther problem.
-
I mean, we aren't in win now mode. We are in developing Bryce Young build around him mode. If you have a good front office....you should be able to generate pressure in a 3-4 scheme with a well built roster. Without breaking the bank on any one player IMO. And it should be a couple years before we are legitimately trying to make a run so we have some time to build up the roster as well.
-
too much talk on the per yer stuff. That's not my issue. Burns leans too one dimensional IMO for even 90 mill. That's why he is in the tier below to begin with. I personally think he should top out at around 75ish guaranteed range. Which is stupid money and the highest of the tier below by a decent margin.
-
Bosa reset the top of his tier. The one Burns isn't in. And we have seen guys recently in Burns tier do their contracts while the Bosa tier has kept getting reset. So again, Burns should be at the top of the tier below. Which means, you don't need to keep talking about Bosa. You need to talk about Burns resetting the tier Chubb and company are in. Which is still stupid money. Fitt should be fired today if he does Bosa guaranteed money IMO. And guaranteed money is all we should be talking about.
-
I again, I am pointing to all the recent contracts. They are what they are. You ignoring them doesn't mean they don't exist. There are different tiers. Chubb, Von Miller, Reddick. Those aren't old deals. Bosa reset the top of a tier that already existed. That Khalil Mack, his brother were already part of and were setting in recent history. The 100+ club. Brian Burns isn't in that tier. Just a reality. He is in the tier below. He should reset the top of that tier.
-
the 100 million dollar guaranteed tier had already been established. Bosa didn't just create it. Burns isn't in it. and Chubb, Von Miller, Reddick, etc. were all signed to their deals while that upper tier was being established too. They didn't fit in it.
