a washed (but not as washed as today) Andy Dalton stepped on the field and flipped the offense on it's head in 2023. The one peak we saw w/o Bryce yielded vastly different results. Bryce Young hasn't fit either of the last 2 offenses. Now, that's not his fault. But it's a reality people got to quit ignoring. All he will ever fit is a Young centric O and no coach wants to build that.
-
2023 was billed as literally the best landing spot for any rookie QB.... Bryce Young just isn't a NFL QB. He can't run an O that isn't super Bryce centric. That's what we have found out. And you see that every single season he has played. He doesn't elevate, he lowers. Frank Reich was an offensive Fox/Rivera. He wasn't the idiot Bryce made everyone look to be. Tepper forced a dude that isn't a NFL QB on the field week 1 that everyone that was coaching knew he couldn't do.

not true. OL is good. Run game is good. We have seen a ton of QBs have middle of the road or better offense w/ that foundation. It's a long list. Whether it's from the jump or injury creates it.

especially given the specific matchup. I mean, running Rico at someone all day isn't going to yield the same outcome each week. But last Sunday, that was the obvious move. We elected to not to lean on the Bills the one way we could.
-
I still hate they hired up Darin Gantt. Gantt would have been GREAT covering the Tepper era from the outside. From a fan perspective. But I totally get why Tepper snatched him up and took him out of play.
-
Tape doesn't say that. If Bryce could make easy throws......Renfrow is the 2nd most productive WR statistically to date and that would be WITH him sitting the last 2 games. I got no problem sitting him as developing dudes matter more than anything and also he just flat out doesn't fit Dave's offense. Renfrow is a slot WR but not in the sense Adam Theilen or Coker play WR out of the slot. It's all about fit and Renfrow doesn't fit the scheme or QB. But he probably is the 2nd best overall WR on the roster right now. 3rd when Coker gets back up to speed.

I mean, I think we need a clean house. Something depsite all the Tepper madness he has never done. He always has bleed over. We need a new team. A real new team. GM, HC, and QB. We keep forcing bad dudes into the new operations as well.

5 of his 7 first half carries were at least 5 yards. Rico is flat out playing great. Rico single handedly got us back in and won that Miami game down 17. It was only a 16 hole at the half. We got ball. by the time Rico got his first (and only) second half carry.....it was then a 37 point hole. He is getting some heat, but PFF should do a score for the coaches and Canales should get a negative billion rating.

if using the season and Bryce's play as the reference marker.....odds are they wouldn't of scored much more. When Rico hasn't gone for 200+, the O with Bryce doesn't do the whole "offense" thing very well. It basically hasn't existed outside of those 2 games Rico would bonkers (Cardinals sort of let them have some offense to get back into that one).

Renfrow basically is exactly who we thought he was. He is a niche slot WR. But he doesn't fit the O or Bryce though. Renfrow needs a pretty good QB and scheme to be of use. Bryce Young flat can't even hit him when he is open. Folks saying Renfrow hasn't been good or washed are letting Bryce defense get in the way. It's also just denying reality we watched on the field of him being wide open over and over and Bryce not being able to hit the broad side of a barn. He probably has the best hands on the team though. He is the best short/classic slot route runner on the team and it's not really close. but we need to be developing Tmac, XL, Coker, Tremayne and Horn. I'd say only 2 guys are technically better than Renfrow right now in a vaccum and that is Tmac and Coker.

Packers got the #3 rush D and #6 D overall…. no reason to think Bryce can move an offense on them when he can’t do it vs bad defenses….and they got an O that can stress us at all our weak spots on D beatdown coming. 40ish to 10ish

Bryce had enough starts and chances…..to know his ceiling is just far too low to be a starting QB/plan. He is a backup QB -

We have seen it though and how Bryce deals with it. It’s most of his starts. Even in wins like Atl and the Jets….bottom tier pass game virtually every week but yeah, Rico is the best RB. We should basically be the Wilks Panthers even when down (which got us back into the Miami game). We got back into that game by not asking Bryce to -

Basically. Rico for 2 weeks did unimaginable. It’s not really a winning gameplan to think he can go for 200+ and lift all boats. we don’t have a mid passing game and we don’t have a mid D. Only so much a run game can do. We are still a bottom 3rd team. schedule about to get real -
Dalton went out there and essentially….pulled a Bryce. Was Dalton really any different than Bryce vs the Jags, Cards, Pats, Falcons, Jets, etc? Only real differenceis the Bills are a really good team overall and when Dalton played like ass….they slammed the door on us. They didn’t let us creep back in down 3 scores early like Bryce has done. Or the Bills O wasn’t in a contest to try to out bad us. we need a complete rehaul. No one employed here should return

even if you exclude the final drive of the first half (because it was going to be pass heavy given the time), most of his passing was on 1st and 2nd down. 8 vs 5. And one of those 5 was a 3rd and short. Just a horrible called game.
-
Most people on this site get that Rico not getting the ball at all on 2 of the first 3 series is a CHOICE. And a bad one. Which outs the gameplan (lack there of being a good one) going into the game of not wanting to take advantage of a bad rush D with your best player. and if you go back and watch some of those Rico goes wild games. We opted to run.....when in theory you shouldn't of if you had a good QB. Which is what we should of opted to do vs a horrific run D with Dalton at QB. Pretty sure if Rico Dowdle was the primary RB.....that entire game changes. Bills couldn't stop him. He just barely touched the ball in the first half. Coaching choic. We probably lose but we probably are competitive late. I mean, its actually WILD to suggest giving Rico the ball heavy of and often early vs that bad run defense doesn't change much.

31st rushing D and 8 carries by Rico is coaching. Rico is easily the best offensive weapon right now and it’s not really close. *literally everyone knows Dalton is washed, horrible and shouldn’t even be a backup QB. Drive 1? ZERO carries. Coaching. Drive 2 - Rico was playing great. Did Canales lean into that or go for “balance”? Coaching. Drive 3 - ZERO carries. Coaching Drive 4 - 1 carry and opted for Jimmy Horn gadget rush (you can’t stick with the Horn repetitive gadget runs each week and that’s not a better idea than getting Rico going) Drive 5 - basically Dalton heavy as the half expired. I don’t need to watch a game to know it’s coaching. The gameplan wasn’t about setting Rico up to go off on a trash rush D. It was bullshit harmony balance of the rush and the pass and making Hubbard feel good.
-
The other week after the Rico games there was a movement by a small crowd to say Evero maybe doesn’t suck and Canales is a great playcaller (because Luke Kuechky did some light PR praise)
-
See my original post where I commented on the 31st rush D and Rico having 8 carries. we knew going in the Bills basically can do one and only one thing. Pressure the QB. Sure seems like a gameplan that went away from our biggest strength and right into what the Bills can do. All you need to see is the box score to know we never had a chance thanks to Dave Canales while facing the best team to date (where coaching is going to be at a premium)

We knew he was completely washed last season. Folks calling Morgan a good GM need to reconsider such silliness. It’s the most important spot in football.
