  1. if my quick math is right (might not be). Last 20 years. 24 different QBs have played in the Super Bowl. 13 first round products. 11 that weren't.
  2. that's weird mock. I bet 3 cents a Clemson defensive lineman goes in the top 10 too.
  3. No worries. Rhule probably will give us 10 games of Sam. 5 of PJ. 2 of Corral.
  4. the 2023 QB picture is going to look a lot different next April than it does today. Just look at who was projected to win the Heisman at the start of last season. college football is often a wild ride.
  5. Montana/Brady 3rd/6th the 2 GOATs.
  6. If you add Fitz, he is the best QB on the roster in terms of week 1. And the entire team will know that. Now you could start Corral over Fitz. Because that would be a development angle. But you couldn't start Sam. So that's a problem for the staff IMO.
  7. so.....reports are there was a split in house on Baker/drafting a QB. We know where the OC stood on the split. I think we have been able to safely rule McAdoo out of the faction lobbying for Baker
  8. eh, that's just the current NIL era bleeding over. All these QBs are pitching products coming in now. Jake Delhomme would be tweeting about Bojangles if was our QB in today's window.
  9. I actually think this class was more normal than percieved. I think last year, in terms of prospects, was an extremely good year. And the fact it was such a good year right next to this one....makes this one look worse than it really was. and adding to it, some of those really great prospects went to total shitshows. Which kinda distorted what a good rookie QB can do for you. Cam in part had so much success as a rookie...is he didn't go to a situation like Jacksonville or Chicago. He went to a team with 2 pro bowlers in the backfield, pro bowlers all over the OL, a HOF WR, 2 great TEs. His surroundings allowed him to be impactful as a rookie. I think the last class oddly hurt the QBs of this class. Not tremendously, but I think it made them less attractive. There are reasons Trevor and Fields didn't wow. But if great prospects don't change the fortune alone I think it skews the overall feel of things. Well, if Trevor didn't do much for the Jags how can Howell.
  10. Joe Person did a lot of reporting about how they largely had Sam checking down most of camp and asked Rhule about it. Then Rhule held Sam out of most of the preseason. Sam basically checked down for the entire one half of football he was on the field for. The offense didn't do anything. But the half ended with a touchdown pass and that was enough for people to ignore all the Sam red flags of that preseason.
  11. Fitzmagic would be QB1 to start the season if you brought him in though. Someone would have to go.
  12. and now that we added a young QB that I hope to see at some point this season...I simply don't like Robby as one of our starting two. Just as simple as that. He has never been consistent and IMO is limited on how diverse he can be since he weighs 78 pounds. Plus, I just want to see more of TMJ. I think his skill set pairs up better with QBs that aren't great given he can be more physical.
  13. my bad. you are right. I had the contract messed up in my head. in 2023, his cap hit currently is 21 million. So they will 100% have to do something with Robby and his contract prior to 2023. Cutting post June also creates 10 million in cap space to use. We drafted TMJ. Put him out there. I'm a firm believer in repping the guys you drafted. Especially when in this building type of window. Either TMJ can fill the void or he can't. If he can't you just roleplay it by committee. and I think they could use some of that money to go get a real WR to insert into the slot. That would help our QBs. That was one of the reasons their was such a change in our from 2020 to 2021. The slot. It was chain moving position in 2020. We lacked that type option in 2021. But I don't think Sam can utlize it like Teddy. But it would still help. Help Corral too.
  14. to get the 10 mill in cap savings, he has to be a post June 1 move though. Which is why I thought the draft talk made little sense. I think they clearly have been talking about dealing Robby. And it's probably for a move where they can get that cap space.
  15. DJ Moore had the 40th biggest cap hit by a NFL WR last year DJ Moore was 11th in recieving yards. He had poor OL play and poor QB play too. He had it the year prior. Year prior to that too. We overpaid Robby Anderson. So I just don't see why wouldn't trade him if we he too is a lame duck. We can create 10 million and cap space and potentially give reps to someone who could be in our plans for big picture. Anderson has the 13th largest cap hit for a WR for the upcoming season. I don't think Robby is the ideal WR for a young QB either. He isn't diverse or physical enough. You want WRs that can help a young QB out. I'd rather invest in a legit slot WR and throw Higgins or TMJ on the outside.
  16. Anderson had the 15th largest cap hit by a NFL WR last year Anderson was ranked 83rd in recieving yards Robby is a lameduck too. This is his last year. Why wouldn't you trade him for a pick and create 10 million in cap space?
  17. Burns is tough. He is a great pass rusher. But he is also way too one dimensional to be worth being paid like a great DE. We probably will just have to do it though. Really need some good run stopping players around him.
  18. We drafted a hopeful answer at LT. That's big picture though. Jordan Gross wasn't Jordan Gross right when we drafted him. Darnold is a huge issue. We also have a tougher schedule this year than last. At least outside of the division.
  19. patient and rebuilding also doesn't = making a run at 12 year vet (now 13 year vet) in Matt Stafford. Tried that too. That's a move a team trying to win a Super Bowl now makes.
  20. lol. When the schedule comes out, I'll be happy to let you know I see the first 5 working out. We aren't going to have a winning record this season with our schedule. Injury would have to change and alter who some of those teams are IMO for us to pull that off. Right now our starting QB is Sam Darnold. And improved OL or not.....we aren't beating the Rams, Bucs, Ravens, etc. They have legit QBs. It's a QB league. Not a give the ball to CMC 30 times league and ask Sam to check down vs legit QBs.
  21. Yes, you are just making s blind statement. You guaranteed we wouldn’t start 1-4 despite not knowing who we would play. given our opponents, the schedule could easily present itself with very hard start where a 1-4 start could happen. Just depends what the schedule makers do. Lot of tough opponents this year
  22. Need who they are playing. Bengals, Bucs, Ravens, Rams, 49ers Vs Falcons, Lions, Saints, Falcons, Giants I would have 2 different predictions for how we would fair vs those 5 game stretches. I wouldn’t have them winning 2 vs the first group. Not sure they could steal even 1. Second grouping is a different story.
  23. hypothetical, assuming division games are stacked at the end like they have been and we start off with something like Bengals Bucs Rams Ravens 49ers what would our record be? Or swap a couple out and insert the Steelers, Broncos or Browns. How many you got us winning out of a 5 game start to schedule that looks like that?
  24. I think the Mayfield thing was probably Tepper just learning that his impatience has caused him to make a several bad deals. Getting a rep for it. So he actually didn't get ripped off for once. But it still IMO is a sign of desperation that they were going for Baker. Never sounded like either sided really wanted to be together to begin with but Carolina was still largely trying to make it happen because we keep doing the same thing on repeat. Browns probably were trying to rip off a desperate team. Why wouldn't you based on what you have seen from this front office. Tepper finally didn't take the horrible deal. if the new narrative is that Tepper makes sure all things are well thought out....that's a tough sell based on Teppers actions as owner. From Sam to RH and everything inbetween IMO.
  25. I still think Rhule will rig this thing up so Sam is pretty much defaulted the job. Rhule is thinking about his job and future. Best way to find a W IMO will drive his decisions. Not being overly concerned about developing a QB (which isn't about wins). I think Matt eventually see the field because the crowd at BOA will force his hand as they react to Sam inveitably being Sam. But I suspect Rhule's goal is to implement his plan from last season. Play D. Run the ball. Ask Sam to handoff and check down. That's it. See what he can squeak out doing that. And I doubt we see a ton of Sam prior to week 1 much like last time.
