  1. and I always thought making Sam the plan was predictably dumb. Had no problem adding him to the roster though. But he isn’t going to be good. He isn’t a starting QB. His flaws showed before NY and now after. He is what he is. that said, he is better than Jimmy Clausen. Not even close.
  2. Only positive about PJ is when survival mode kicks in behind a bad OL….he is a better pure runner and more evasive than Sam. As far as passers, while Sam might be slightly better they are in the same ballpark. Because Sam is a backup QB in the NFL. I’m fine with going to PJ or sticking with Sam because it doesn’t matter who starts. Results will overall be the same. But Rhule won’t admit the obvious on Sam. He will go in scapegoat mode first. But going the Sam route was always obvious….
  3. Bad offense impacts a D negatively.
  4. Offense scored 21 points and that was with the D putting the ball 18 yards away for them. that’s not enough offense when you are playing a team like a healthy Vikings team. If it wasn’t for the D and ST…. the O basically worked themselves into position to only get a FG in the first half. That isn’t enough.
  5. Rhule and the GM are the ones who haven’t properly invested in the OL and QB spot. a new OC isn’t going to matter.
  6. Philly loss was worse than this one. But this game was only close because the D gift wrapped points for the O. Too much on the Ds shoulders. We need to invest in the OL and QB. The Rhule/Fitt era has been about investing in everthing else. Which isn’t how you build a team in the modern day NFL.
  7. Sam will be Sam. we can improve the OL and the results will improve. Just like there was a bump from him coming to Car from NY and an improved environment. But just like Teddy…he is what he is. He isn’t a great QB. That’s in his DNA. And you can put a great OL in front of him and his Sam Darnold moments will still exist….because he has always been that guy. Here, NY and USC. He is Jake minus the great intangibles Jake had early on. And the intangibles were huge for Jake.
  8. DJ is on pace to have his best season…by far. 1400 yards, 13 TDs. And that is just projecting over 16 games and not 17. Which would be the 3rd best by a Panther statistically following only 89’s 2005 and Moose’s 2004 (if only using 16 games and not 17 as the bar). I mean he is on pace to at least challenge for the best individual season in franchise history. That’s blowing up in my mind.
  9. No real issue there. Without CMC, I think they look to be a slightly better team. that’s under the assumption they have their top 3 offensive player makers
  10. Joe Brady can’t successfully and consistently scheme around 4 horrible offensive line paired with an average QB. No OC can. and all of that with his entire time as OC with the highest paid and best player in CMC on the shelf almost every week. we don’t have a Joe Brady problem.
  11. Yeah, we will run the ball better and be better offensively with CMC. Which impacts the D. That should help the D stay off the field more and be fresher. And and if the O runs through CMC I would think the odds of turnovers decrease vs a CMC less O. So it decreases the odds of the D getting in bad spots off turnovers. bad offense generally works against a D. Good offense generally helps them. Just a variation of that thought process.
  12. I just think Robby got overrated early last year and then we overpaid him this offseason. So the expectations for him are now too high. and that’s not calling him a bad player either.
  13. No CMC and they have Cook 31-20 Vikings CMC 27- 24 Panthers
  14. Matt Rhule next week when Joe asks a follow up
  15. Good for Joe. Never thought I would say that Joe be like…
  16. Odds would at least favor a QB with a long history of ball security and turnovers….being asked to go deep more behind a horrible OL would have increased odds for negative plays though. We need OL talent. OL is so bad a great OC’s plays would blowup on him. People will always be disappointed with offensive playcalling…with a horrible OL. You can’t successfully pull it off for 4 quarters vs good comp. The lines make or break an offense or defense.
  17. funniest part about the greatest and most memorable play in Panther history… per Jake, it never actually worked out well in practice when they ran it. So essentially, a play they weren’t even good at was called and just happened to work out masterfully. That’s football sometimes. The line between genius and dumb often is so very thin
  18. there would be even more of it. which would make the odds of winning go down.
  19. I think the Panthers have the best win% and most playoffs appearances under Shula than any other OC. I hate that brand of football but at some point the team success IMO has to factor. not saying his the best or was good....but Shula can't rank at the bottom in Carolina.
  20. We have an offensive line that is horrific in pass pro and a QB that has long been plagued with ball security issues.... you really want Brady to be pushing a bunch of deep pass plays and double moves? That sounds like the perfect recipe for the O to just turn it over and prevent us from having a shot.
  21. I think if Cornbread Brown just laid down on the ground every snap…he would grade higher than Miller.
  22. I’m sorry, quoting myself to highlight how stupid this was. What I should of said was, maybe we can start inserting some DBs into the OL. A chaos effect. Confuse defenses about what the fug is happening. Why the fug is Jackson and our newly acquired DB playing LT and LG? I don’t know but maybe you can tell me why Robby Anderson just caught that 80 yarder on you while you think about it!
  23. maybe we can invent some new package that features 11 defensive backs all on the field and give it a cool name
