but to an extent, it's the whole Double Trouble aspect that sounds better than it sometimes actually is. Having 2 featured RBs back in the day wasn't really a formula to be good. It's great insurance. But you can only play one of them. So your ceiling at RB is really just how good is your best RB to a degree. It's like having a great backup QB. It doesn't carry that much weight. Just means if things get bad, you don't drop off as much.

Nothing wrong w/ be excited about the potential. But Nabors and Tmac ain't going to fair the same in a head to head ranking like this. One still waiting to log a real NFL catch and the other has put in the books already. and we have been so bad, I just don't see the point of being offended we are last. We deserve to be defaulted worse when it is close based on our proven track record of late.

take lead dogs at WR. Pittman, Nabors, and Olave. Lead dogs elsewhere got more proof in the pudding. They all got 1k WRs. And WR is going to be maybe the key area people are making a case for Carolina to be higher.

I mean, when you actually start putting player vs player? I don't think it's controversial. Carolina still almost fully banking on hope that dudes pan out for a high % of the agreement here. So proven edges out potential when you start putting them head to head.

Evero?!?! Should he be on the Hot Seat

even without Luke....it it was substantially different type of investment going on. You also ended up w/ Star, KK, Shaq. And every pick doesn't hit. So you have the non-hits like Ealy, McClain added in which come w/ the territory. Since Morgan has been there it has been O heavy. And on top of that.....the entire management of it all has run counter to logic used in the biggest investment of all. We gave up the farm for BY under the logic we could invest elsewhere. That was THE selling point of going the BY route. Yet, after they drafted BY....every first round pick has been on a WR. Back to back. The D sucks because Evero is a JAG coach. With whack talent. But you could hire a great coach....and we likely are still bottom half. We have a talent issue. That's the front offices fault. -

Night and day difference in the front office investements. Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players. The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive. That IMO is why our D sucks so bad. You build defenses up front. Carolina hasn't been investing there. Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players. Expand it all to include second rounders 7 of the 10 picks were defensive. All front 7 players. -

Yep, you can even hire a recruitings/search firm…..and the best you can do is just hire in house and someone no other team interviewed. Morgan and Canales basically catching strays and I’m not trying to knock them here. But the reality is…Tepper has sort of set the stage here. Basically has to bribe folks with overpayment or hope to find gold with someone who can only get the shot because it’s Carolina -

Frank is HC at Stanford this year. One year gig but I believe it’s a 4 mill deal. I don’t think Tepper gives a rip. He does the same thing on the soccer side of things as well. when your worth 21 billion….a couple million bucks just doesn’t matter. And if things get weird, Tepper gonna have way better lawyers. Heck, even if they don’t get weird. -
Everyone said BY was playing like a 7 year vet at joint practices before he then had one the worst rookie seasons of all time. I think ever since year 2 of Matt Rhule…Carolina and everyone here has overstated and over played joint practices. I feel it gets way more talk and emphasis now than back in the day. Because the talk of joint practice has never seemed to track beyond that the last several years. I also think the reporting is different now about Carolina. I think Carolina controls it more than in past eras.

Coach contracts have offset language though…..so it’s not like the billionaire is really paying them like they are still coaching here. Rhule went to Nebraska the next year. Think making more than he was slated for here per year. Even Frank is back to coaching now -

I recognize that last year was essentially BY’s rookie year in all reality. Spoken on that a lot. And the sophomore adjustment is coming for BY and what Dave managed to pull off with him last year. BY and Dave got to add more to this O….because even the post benching BY pass attack was low ceiling, non threatening and middle of the road. We went from horrific to middle of the road. I recognize that. Huge jump. And admittedly, I think given how mind blowing his rise from the dead was…..it causes people to now overstate what BY is. To me he is an old Brees with great wiggle/legs (minus a career of high level QB experience in his memory bank). -

lol. My preference can’t be wrong. It’s literally what I want to see them doing. You can prefer they spend all their real game speed time repping on what we already know this QB can do…..my preference is when the stars align to get a good look stacked to their favor to work on a weakness in this O they work on that Canales has already said these dudes ain’t really playing as much as my preference on that too. BY could use way more work than 2 total quarters in a preseason. Still light work given what he is and isn’t at this stage -
I still believe they don’t want a QB with some high ceiling traits on the roster behind BY to make things weird. Then have to deal with noise if whatever happens because all it takes is BY looking like he has for the overwhelming majority of his starts…..and done would be calling for the backup pretty quick after a stretch of a couple games to start the season.

you are just arguing my preference shouldn’t my preference of what they work on and it sounds like they will only get 3 more series this entire preseason….and might never get that look again. NFL teams take that shot. We need practice on it more than any team in the NFL. Should have taken advantage of that. That will remain my preference. And I you can prefer BY spend preseason doing what he does well. Until BY and the Panthers prove they can add new stuff to their offense it will continue to be one the lowest ceiling Os in the NFL IMO -

The Tepper era has loved the scapegoat model to date. Always a guy lined up and ready if things go south to take the heat. Fanbase was way too happy at the end of the year and allowed Tepper to roll Evero into this year. -

No one calling the go route efficient or something BY should be doing all game. We are a low ceiling offense for a variety of reasons. Not being able to back teams up and make them pay for cheating coverage is one of them. it’s not about TMac. This inability of our offense has been steadily discussed. It’s a convo about trying to get better where you need to improve….specifically when given the opportunity in ideal spots to work. Even the broadcast crew called the opportunity in real time. We just didn’t take it. We did what we always do -

Not conflating. You literally just stated my point. opportunity existed to work on a weak aspect of ours. In an ideal scenario. Browns backups gave us the look and chance to work on it. We didn’t take that. defenses have cheated coverage for 2 seasons against us with Bryce. Because when a D presents a vulnerable coverage they still don’t worry about. Carolina under BY either can’t or doesn’t take the throw consistently. I want them to work on weakness. You want Bryce throwing underneath and to the sidelines and fixated on what he does well. All this is, is a disagreement on what this team should be working on -
LG Carter didn’t even grade out as the worst starter on the OL and was right there with Moton. For whatever that is worth. Some where acting like he was me out there playing after the game

If your starting QB can’t even throw a one on one vertical route with no S help…..you are going to need to find a new QB. It doesn’t have to be your O. But if you can’t do that, life will always be harder than it needs to be for your offense. That’s a basic throw at this level of play that basically all 32 starters should be able to pull out on occasion. One that doesn’t require Brett Favre arms and paired with Tyreek Hill WRs. It’s forever shrinking a field and allowing a D to cheat coverage with no worries. -

True elite slot WRs. I have always said since the day we drafted BY the best thing you can do for Bryce is give him a great slot WR and a rec RB. if we aren’t moving on from BY which I thought was a near certainty…..I would have advocated for Ladd over XL. -

Preseason is practice vs players that don’t know you. If you are just supposed to be working on your strengths we should have been running Hubbard at fools all night. I’m just talking about a basic one on one vertical route. You don’t need Brett Favre and Tyreek Hill. Jake Delhomme could pull it off to Moose. That opportunity last night was a single high S centerfield. He wasn’t sitting over the top of that route. I’m not talking about tossing up contested jump balls for a jump ball catcher to win. Im talking my about stressing a D vertically and having teams respect it could be thrown -
Let’s bring back Joey Slye week 1 and get in a deep kickoff!! didn’t Slye attempt one like that? I think it went horrible but the belief was there

The type that should in theory should be an XL route over TMac route IS the go route. Sorry if that wasn’t expressed clear enough. Thought that last paragraph was pretty clear on that I don’t know if TMac is a go route guy in the NFL. Not sure he can separate vertically. Which is also a question we have. And then on top of that, can BY make the throws But we don’t know who should be that guy beyond in theory. Bryce has never been great at that aspect. it doesn’t really exist in our O. Which limits us. Allows for more aggressive D play against us IMO You want strengths focused on, I want weakness focused on. O needs expanding. You don’t need a cannon arm to throw a good deep vertical. It’s more ball placement and willingness. Especially when there is no one over the top -
3-1 in our warm up games in 2015 by the way. But it’s all “recency bias”. Dating back to 2003 (which is as far back as ESPN goes)…..Panthers have never had a winning season paired with a bad preseason (losing preseason) Every winning season paired with a .500 or better preseason since 03 and I think the only winning preseason paired with losing season was 04 when 89 broke his leg week 1. maybe there is a game I missed somewhere. But that’s not recency bias. It’s just the way it has been in Carolina since 2003. Could it just be a coincidence? Sure. As I don’t really care about wins in a preseason. But it is a consistent trend in Carolina that results in a random fact
