Another post-mortem of Bryce in Charlotte
CRA replied to BrisbanePanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
lots of really bad players are really smart at this level. It sort of explains coaching. A lot of the best coaches know what to do, they don't have the tools to do it themselves. That's probably Bryce. And everyone deals w/ stress/pressure different too. I feel pretty confident Bryce probably can break down film pretty well. Maybe even work up a gameplan. He just can't actually do it. That's what we drafted -
I think one of the problems we have is thinking Brees provides a blueprint for Bryce. He doesn't. Because the late stage Brees you are looking at as comparable.....was a HOF QB by that stage (HOF brain, experience, etc)....and was a pure pocket player his entire career. Bryce is coming from this modern era of college football. He isn't a pocket player like Brees was as a young player. And Brees was a big downfield gambler early in his career. Opposing defenses weren't able scheme and sit on the pass game in the same manner all game.

well, if you put in stock into Tom Brady's opinions. He said the young QBs shouldn't be playing. He said they are setup to lose. They don't have time to learn how to play QB in the NFL. So what teams do is they dumb down literally everything for the young QBs and throw them into the fire. Which for a Bryce is REALLY going to hurt.....because he doesn't even have average physical tools, let alone doesn't have break glass emergency skills to overcome anything. Brady implied even ones playing well aren't really playing QB at a high level.

Glad we got that turf!!

hard to deny that if you are looking at the sum of 18 starts, that's largely true.

Bryce is super PR trained to talk. That's all that is. He gives the textbook correct thing to say at any point in time. Dave Canales is pretty similar. I mean, Bryce sucks. But Bryce is a good dude by all accounts, unlike Russell tries, etc. Only so much hate you can give him. He didn't draft himself. The anger at this point should a NFL org that doesn't know what NFL talent and doesn't have the ability to make weak talent manageable.
-
That's right. Bama all blurs to me. It's probably because I hate them.
-
No they didn't. He went to Alabama. The King Kong of college football. Started and won a natty. He then went on to be the #1 pick in the NFL. Where he got a 37 million FULLY guaranteed contract Dude never has to work again in his life if he doesn't want to when he is done in the NFL. Wish someone screwed me over like that lol

58 isn't eligible. He went to the Chargers for that final year.

There is no a single report of Cam being at their practice and if he was....there is a 100% chance Dolphins media folks would have snagged evidence. This sure looks like random people retweeting random made up things.

That's not living in the past lol. It literally is just a description of how the Panthers created textbook plan for failure. again, 2 things can be true. Young not having the tools to be a successful NFL starting QB.....doesn't somehow erase the fact the Panthers rewrote the book on how to ruin a QB. as fans, it does no good every single season....to make excuses and dump everyone's wrongs on just one human (who is in fact part of the wrong). I detailed in other threads how this fanbase keeps repeating that narrative which just helps Tepper run his clown.

just to be clear, I have never questioned Sam Darnold's physical tools. But that's essentially the trap. Sam Darnold is an athlete with great physical tools. He isn't a NFL QB between the ears. That's what has been proven. Carr and Cousins are better above the shoulders.

I mean, I do think our D is trash. Yeah, the offense isn't helping them but it's not like they are wearing down due to no offense. They are getting their teeth kicked in from the jump. if I'm the Raiders I think I still overplay the short stuff. Force Dalton deep. But actually defend it. XL/Mingo/Saunders aren't the best route guys yet. I personally think we are seeing a lot of wrong routes. If not, the play design isn't helping on a lot of routes. Lot of bodies end up in the same space when the ball is coming. AT can't separate downfield and even DJ is more known for his mid level route running.
-
Yeah, that’s gotten blurred. For example seeing Theilen deep and open…. Opponents are just flat out giving Bryce stuff on downs. The ball wasn’t going there. And then on other downs they could setup and bait the 3rd and long to be short. They happily give that up too. I still think Dalton could have a good debut. New is just an advantage. But that’s short lived

I don't see why so many are making this hard we drafted a QB that doesn't have the tools to be a good NFL QB THEN we choose to set the table for it to go as bad as it possibly could go. So whatever he could of been (which wasn't going to be good enough)......we made sure it never happened. Two things can be true. Generally in life multiple things are true. All discussion boils down to it has to be one and if it is one...it can't be the other.
-
I don't see how people fall into the same repeated traps. Sam Darnold has told everyone what he is. A billion times. He will occasionally have decent games. Especially early in a season. And especially when throwing to the literal best WR in the game of football. Sam Darnold is not a good NFL QB
-
He is 4th in snaps and getting about half the offensive snaps. Which is pretty good for the rookie. I still think Thielen sort of screws up the opportunity share. I'm not a Mingo guy but I would hate for XL to only eat into his. Want both them repping a lot.
-
voters are the voters. Lot of WRs in the mix. Many with hardware. And it's just a flat out reality then when it's close, 89 essentially going to pay the price for being a jerk to so many. I think Reggie Wayne, Holt and probably even Boldin got better odds. Not saying they were better actual WRs in the field though.
-
pro football reference says the average HOF C has 5 all pro selections. So he is coming in light of the average.
-
Jake Delhomme and Stephen Davis are on the list. Not knocking them, but that list is pretty broad right now. Those 2 will never make it. Big 3 with a shot right now got to be Luke, Allen and 89. I’d probably rank them in that order in terms of odds.
-
IMO we do a variation of this every season. everything aligns with it being Tepper. people just want it to be Canales. Because it should be in a well run org. We know we aren’t.
-
probably more which QB does. The really bad Cade or the just sorta bad Cade.
