I wish I was a fly on the wall for the last Tepper/Frank meeting. I think Frank wanted to be fired. Canales has openly said being creative isn't really his thing. So my guess is the real pressure is on the small PG QB to become homerun/chunk passer. I mean, in theory, Brees was able to do that. But that's just the size comparison. The non-washed Brees was a gambler in the pass game downfield. He was never afraid to gamble. I just don't think you can teach risky or conservative play. Maybe for a game here or there. But QB DNA is a real thing. Bryce too smart I guess lol

I'm not sure I would write off either yet. I just see them as conflicting. I just think he needs some variation of a QB with gunslinger DNA. I think Bryce could thrive somewhere that built a creative, up tempo, small ball O around him. NFL to me is all bout fit. Good players fall because of bad fits. Good coaches fail because of bad fits. Now, there are adapters and those that can morph. But I think they are rare at the highest level. Highest level you got to play to your strengths. That's sort of why I don't give Ron a hard time on Cam (minority probably). They both played to their strengths. Cam the pocket passer was never a Cam I wish we would have developed.

60% of the time, I'm right every time. *my wife clearly would argue the 60% is overstated. In terms of the huddle, I'm still searching to trump my Dwayne Jarrett take and have something even more embarrassing than how bad that one went. Might of been the worst take in the history of the board given how long I stood by my guy. He just needs a chance.

Hope I'm wrong. I hope I have the worst take imaginable in a couple months from now and you bump my posts say looking at these clown thoughts. One hundred things are said. Anyone can cherry pick the ones that think are more true or less. Canales long signaled Bryce might not sniff a single rep. Before any game was up for discussion. Heading into NE, he wasn't competing for job he had done that with competing guys. Then folks argued he doesn't believe in risking folks to injury. Then it was well, he is actually ok with risking folks to injury if every single player was healthy. You don't have to be like me, I basically just make my own assumption based of nothing he says. It should be a mess for Canales early based off our hurdles. Guys likely aren't ready vs other teams without all the unique scenarios we have. He has a harder task than most of the league going into those live reps. Then, I start to listen to how he addresses being pressed about his team. I think Canales in theory brings a LOT of what I like to the table. It's my whole bad marriage principle. Which IMO is really the foundation of most of my opinions of all the Tepper swings. By design, it's hard to get it to work IMO. I think this offseason, Canales has a lot of that he is dealing with. Which I thought Frank and Rhule had as well, although all different variations. You could see the fail coming by design.

I mean this is where I think the over defender thing comes into play… A young QB simply have a bad answer to a question. But somehow it can’t even be that? they asked him what he did this offseason….his answer summed up accurately highlighted getting away from football, being alone and watching Netflix. it was a bad answer because HE paints a poor and inaccurate picture. Because later he would talk about football things he actually did do. But he is young. and the counter to that is some demand to find him saying the word “all” lol
-
Canales signaled before any injuries Bryce might not see the field… what injuries uniquely made it so Bryce couldn’t play at NE? I mean variables do change. I think Canales was feeling the heat about how handling of things and I think the Bills confirming there starters are out gave him a window….and here we are. I’m treating and viewing things no different than with Frank and Rhule. And I was largely right about reading those tea leaves despite the demand I take whatever the org narrative was when all 3 were being pressed on things. So at least I’m consistent lol

3 years in….Jeff Otah was more dependable and by a fair margin at that no one should be thinking cornerstone and money. But it’s Carolina so it makes sense
-
then you add in first time HC, first time OC, and young QB already on his second O in 2 years.....paired with the problem you mentioned. it sets up for a really rough start. and icing on all that is Bryce isn't a natural fit in terms of style of play in terms of what the coaches have traditionally been around. People paint that was some wild conspiracy.....to point out it's not easy to put all that on display early and deal with a 24/7 news/social media era while doing it. I don't blame Canales for his decisions. I get them. I just wish he would done it different and just dealt with it. But I do think there is a legitimate argument that it could of all just been too unfair to the young QB at this point.

It's all partial truths and bullpoo. All season. Canales basically said, yeah, the obvious was the obvious. So I tend to think when the coaches finally say things that match up with common sense things that most can just see......that's probably the closest to the truth you get. Especially when you sort of get at the end of different windows. I think when folks say things matter too. There were windows where Frank and Rhule were likely to be less truthful or more truthful. I just think there are some clear similarities in the first 3 real preseasons of Rhule, Frank and now Canales. People didn't like what was said by folks like me during any of those windows in real time. I actually like Canales' potential. I think he is screwed personally because we are the kings of bad marriages. I'll keep repeating that until that is proven wrong. Stage looks set again for it.
-
I mean, I can also go pull up my post from this time last year.....where we went back and forth on how everything the coaches say in front of the microphone when asked is not all truthful. Because we already did this dance. Rhule bullshitted. Frank did. Canales does too. It's what they do. There job isn't to say the truth to the media. You are dismissing what Canales finally said about the preseason as he heads into the last game. Injury wasn't even a real issue the first game. Most of your they are too hurt narrative doesn't apply to week 1. He just didn't want to play them. And he tried to set the table for Bryce never playing before any of it started because he knew it was going to be hard to put them out there and deal with it looking like a work in progress (which it should given what he got).

as of today? No, I wouldn't want anything to do with Sanders. could that change? Sure. But he would have to continue to grow and change. Right now, I don't think Sanders is a good leader. Think he is a me-centric spoiled kid. I think he is risk adverse to make his stat sheet look as good as it can.....and whatever his OL is, I think his present day style of play makes his OLs look worse. So if they are garbage, he will make it super garbage. I'd much rather Bryce shut me up this year. While Bryce isn't my textbook QB....he is an easier human to root for.
-
the source was Bryce Young. But it wasn't Fortnite, it was Netflix. basically, it was young QB coming off a bad season....with a horrible answer to question. He did some good things this offseason (that came out after his comment) yet Bryce himself painted a horrible picture for people to kick around.
-
I mean, he has a brand new O he has to install. He has an OL that hasn't played together. He has a C that has never played C. He has a QB that doesn't really fit his natural core philosophy of how to play O. So yeah, I mean, it makes sense. I don't think that's a sign of him being bad. I just think Bryce needs volume. Go let him take his lumps in reps that don't matter. He didn't do that enough last year. I think it's a strategy that leans on saving him from having to deal with the talk.
-
just for the record, the defend everything guys.....were calling this fairly obvious fact a conspiracy theory. Canales was hiding his starting O because it wasn't good enough to put on the field yet. Seems like the noise, plus the Bills confirming ahead of him they wouldn't be playing there starters...that he is going to trot them out finally. I still don't expect to really see them take real reps. Risk is too high for Canales. If those backups handle our starting O, that's a nightmare for Canales going in.

How long will the Carolina Panthers rebuild take?
CRA replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce Young going into year 2 does not equal Goff going into year 6. Bryce Young right now isn't....42-27, with 3 playoff appearances, and 2 Pro Bowls to his name. 2 separate convos. Dan Campbell wasn't kicking off his rebuild with the Lions roster in a similar place as Canales finds himself. That's the only convo I was having. Could Bryce Young be better than Goff? Sure. That's certainly possible. But that doesn't equate to us being the 2021 Lions right now. -

I mean, sounds like two separate convos to me. You are having one of what Bryce could become. I'm just talking about where Campbell was starting from vs Canales. They are kicking off with 2 very different QB scenarios. So, I don't see how the Lions comparable works and that's just starting at the obvious QB spot.
