I like how before the season started this was deemed a terrific spot. Better than Young's. ....and then after the season it was deemed a horrific spot for Bryce. I mean, never bought into that hype of the added talent BUT, to an extent, Bryce did have something to do with why it went so bad.....and CJ had a lot to do with why it went so well in Houston. I do think Andy Dalton showed a bit of a red flag. Gameplans were skewed for Bryce. He is part of the why. All it took was an old washed up vet and the passing attack was different.

Running the ball is fine. You need to run. building an OL that runs blocks and sucks at pass blocking isn’t fine. Being an offense that can only threaten with the run isn’t fine. If you have a good QB and a threatening pass attack….you can run with anyone at RB. Rookies. Cheap backs.

we just traded 2 first round picks and DJ Moore for a starting QB nearly the size of my middle schooler.

100% true. We could just add more bad. Which has healthy odds given Tepper only hires people he shouldn't to date. I don't argue that. I just wish this "new era" felt like it was truly outsourced to someone else. I know Tepper claimed to hire a consultant.....but it really feels like that was to take some heat of him and little else. Just outsource it all at this point. Instead we got Tepper, his wife, and Jim Caldwell making up 3/4 of the "decision makers". So, I don't trust anything being done given that.

maybe we did keep the best parts. Maybe we kept some messy parts in that process. All a guess. Clean slate removes the guess work. I like Dan. I still feel there could be a lot of similarities to the logic applied when we kept Fitterer after firing Rhule. Well, all the bad was Rhule. Not Fitterer. Now, it's all the bad was Fitterer.....Morgan surely couldn't of been behind any of the 1000 bad moves while he was the assistant GM. A lot of the right stuff is being said. But that's always the case. team has to earn my optimism at this point. you can only be duped so many times in a row.

I mean, I think the common sense approach is a clean start....if you are coming off a reported Game of Thrones atmosphere in house. We are keeping some big chunks in the front office and coaching intact despite the mess that was going on in Carolina. but I mean, his job is to look for poo and get you to listen. I don't argue that.
-
I'm still not willing to buy in on a reporters word of having it all figured out. And I don't doubt that Frank was singing the company line at the end of it. I think in the end, everyone was universally backing the pick once the decision was made. Other reporting details the there was a clear in house split on it. And I don't think any voices that weren't big voices would have been reported on in references to a split. Same time the Panthers were debating, a lot of Frank world people were talking about how CJ was the Frank Reich prototype and ideal QB.
-
I'm listening if a team is offering a 3rd. A 2nd is an instant yes.
-
I think Reich took the job and nothing but Ls from Tepper and gave up. Think he realized quick he had no actual control and power and phoned it all in. He didn’t get the QB he wanted. Got to wonder about other players and coaches too. And he had weekly Tepper talks he clearly didn’t enjoy that were probably discussions influenced by Tepper moles all over his staff.

What pick would you take straight up for Horn today?
-
Chase looks like a guy who plays football because he can….and not because he really cares to. League is full of them. Think the 49ers are debating benching him for lack of effort….and he fell into a potential ring and doesn’t even try. but it’s easy to see why a team would fool themselves over dudes who all have the tools to be great. It happens all the time. The it will be different for us mindset.
-
I'm not arguing Chase Young is anything. I'm arguing in the eyes of the football world......Horn isn't viewed that much differently in terms of value to obtain. I don't see a team willing to give up more than a 3rd ish for Horn. That was Young's value. He is just a similar risk for a different variety.
-
I'd take a 3rd for Horn. I don't see how you could get more for him at this point. I know the huddle wouldn't be cool with that though. But if you aren't going to pay him, that's decent value give what he has proven to be at this level over 3 years.
-
I would not take the deal as presented here. I would deal Horn though. But yeah, if a team wants to take a high risk gamble for a decent draft pick? I'd take that all day for Horn. But realistically that pick ain't going to be what the huddle thinks he is worth.
-
I mean, Chase Young? Chase Young was DROY and a Pro Bowler. He has crazy physical gifts and a hopeful opening to the NFL to fool people with. I don't see how we can put a corner that never plays in a different tier. They just fooling you slightly different.
-
Oh, I'm probably taking that deal if you are giving a 3rd. Give me a 3rd and Jerry. Because Horn is walking if I am the GM. And we ain't doing diddly as a franchise from now until the time he walks.
-
probably, Jerry, Chase, Horn at least have NFL tools to fool yourself over. Bryce is a unicorn attempting to defy the positional rules.
-
we probably couldn't' get a backup long snapper for TMJ
-
I mean, it's hard to even wrap your head around the tech jumps that will come in the next 20 years. But if they could essentially end up putting that tech in some rather normal looking glasses?
-
lol, it's funny the perspective outside of Carolina vs here at home though. That proposal actually has us sending a 4th round pick with Horn now that I look more closely at it.
-
I mean, you probably could make the same argument about Jaycee Horn at this point though. I mean, Jeff Otah had been a running joke for YEARS around here. Otah suited up for 60% of his games through 3 years Horn suited up for 43% of his games through 3 years not saying I would do this trade but I would most definitely think about trading Horn given I wouldn't pay him with his history.
-
Just saw this imagined trade pop up via my homepage. Jerry Jeudy for Jayce Horn Broncos and Panthers swap former first-rounders in projected trade (msn.com)

only in a world where DJ Moore hitting a window where he was the only WR in the entire NFL to log 3 straight 1100+ seasons is viewed as a #2 WR (with trash QB play). DJ Moore was #1. Is a #1. A #1 isn't defined as a top 5 WR only.
-
yep, the worst part about it....we actually went out and made a lot of moves in FA for the offense. Which was the most mindboggling part of it all. I mean, maybe Hurst made the most sense in reality from an on paper standpoint and he was used the least. Sanders, Theilen and Chark made no sense for a Bryce O. we over invested in a small ball QB dink and dunk QB.....then went out and signed a bunch players who didn't fit what he would be doing and had a scheme that didn't cater toward it. I mean, we got dudes at BOA making millions that literally fail at basics.
-
TMJ is a hole on the roster. Cutting him doesn't create one. At least an UDFA or cheap WR gives up a chance at a lotto hit. We already have scratched the TMJ ticket off and it was a dud. we frankly need an entire new cast. Theilen basically a TE out there.
