  1. if you drafted Ladd, he wouldn't need to be a understudy.....he would just need to take ATs spot/role. See this season with the Chargers as the proof. As a rookie, Ladd is outperforming anything AT has done in a half decade on the field. It's why I would love AT to stay if he was an outside #2. My AT issue is he plays the slot role and is too old to move outside. That was the Ladd issue of the draft. Both are suited for 1 role/job on the field. That means you put one on the bench or make the other less effective by playing them outside their ideal role. XL presented the option to put 2 WRs in places they would both shine to their max.
  2. and if you take out just 2 games from his stats (the concussion game and the garbage time game where he didn't really play in either) which skew his numbers drastically.... Maye is out performing post benching Bryce in New England across the board as a rookie in basically every metric in a bad situation. More efficient and more production. Bryce has improved. But he isn't good yet. We have let how bad it was impact how we view it now.
  3. well, then we just disagree on that. I do not think Carolina has the worst supporting cast around the QB in the NFL. Several comparable spots in the league on the offensive side of the ball. Bryce still is missing way too many throws. Too many bad throws. Only Anthony Richardson is worse in that department. Since he has improved, some of that stuff isn't getting acknowledged like it should.
  4. So who is in that convo though on the offensive side of the ball? New England? There rookie is still out producing Bryce at the QB spot. I mean, yeah, anyone would likely be better on a juggernaut team. Anyone would probably be worse on a bad team. I still think Bryce is coming in below what we should be getting on O. Especially given we lose each week. It basically is a setup for inflated pass numbers. His comp% and overall yardage produced just is just lacking. and I don't think it is all Bryce. I don't think him and Dave ever fit. I don't think Dave wanted him. Which is why he got benched so quick.
  5. Andy is an old man vs them. Andy got 40 in his sights.....those dudes are in their 20s still.
  6. said it before the first ball was kicked off...Evero was setup to be the fall guy this year from the jump. Whatever happened this year, Canales team was going to be setup at a minimum...to at least be able to point at Evero for blame/change. Evero wasn't allowed to leave. They gutted the D roster. Everyone knew it was going to go backwards by front office design. It's a scapegoat business. Generally there is always someone going into a season where if it goes bad will be the blame guy. It's why I like clean slates without holdovers. The holdovers are always the blame guys. That can be coaching or front office. It's why Fitterer should of gone w/ Rhule. Why we shouldn't of hired Morgan. Always a carry over to lay blame at their feet.
  7. what's our situation? Great OL. Solid rush game. Meh WRs. That's not actually a nightmare scenario in the NFL and it often seems to be painted as such. We should be producing more O from the QB spot IMO. You got to look at the combo of Bryce and Dave IMO. I still think it's a conflicting pairing.
  8. well, what are a handful of teams where offensively you think the QB is in a comparable overall spot or worse? We are just talking offensive production in the end. Bryce isn't in the worst spot offensively in the NFL. This isn't last year. I can flip that too......a lot of QBs inserted into Carolina would be out performing Bryce if we are honest. He has a great OL and run game. Which is the biggest gift you can give a QB.
  9. gotcha. yeah, the cherry picked 206 has him 27th and still sandwiched behind Jones and in front of Gardner. but it's a pretty cherry picked view that overly skews to favor Bryce given all those other guys aren't getting their bad games wiped nor are they getting their non-start stats wiped like Bryce is. So Bryce is slotting ahead of Drake Maye for example. But if you wipe the 1 game Maye didn't start and played a couple snaps garbage time in.....well, Maye is ahead of cherry picked Bryce. Cherry picked Bryce is ahead of Drew Lock because he stepped on field in random games....but Lock averages 233 in his starts. I think if you were to be able to cherry pick out average yards per game as a starter.....even cherry picked Bryce is probably 35-40ish.
  10. Don't check again for an update or you find he is like 35 or something. Behind Gardner and Jones.....as well as Spencer Rattler, O'Connell, Maye, etc.
  11. his comp% and efficiency is still pretty low....especially given he isn't shouldering a lot of offensive production. Bryce flirting with that 60% line.....65+% is basically meh/average in today's NFL. I mean, there is clear improvement. But the bar was basically thrown to the floor. He still has work to reach average
  12. the board is largely for older types that want to bicker with the same people instead of bickering with new different accounts on social media. is it the wild west? I mean, compared to the social media sites like reddit, twitter, etc???
  13. that's why I'm cool w/ parting w/ AT. AT essentially took Ladd off the table. Both would be their best version of themselves in the same spot on the field. So strike him off the list and look at the other spots. Which brings you to XL. A different spot.
  14. 100%. You got a trainwreck? Well, you hire a Fox, Ron, etc type. You want over the hump? You replace those types. Often you can't just jump to the over the hump types because they often aren't good with the pooshow. Wilks is an example of that mold as well. there are some unicorns. I think Dan Campbell might be an example but rare.
  15. What I was most wrong about was Corbett at C on the year. I thought he would bring the play of our new OGs down since we were sort of forcing a C position into play.
  16. found the bigger thread. O takes a step forward D a step backwards End result is a team that is picking in the top 10. Who knows how the ball bounces. I'd say about 5ish wins. my 3-5 verbiage obvious better in the other thread though
  17. I know somewhere there is a more active prediction thread. I just couldn't find it with a quick search.
  18. Depends on how the ball bounces and luck of a season. Somewhere between 3-5 wins.
  19. Ron is who you bring in when you need calm seas after a mess. I mean, look at the load he carried in Washington. People forget Ron was basically the face of the entire franchise at first. Not sure Ron could calm the waters in NY though. Think you have to get Rodgers out of there before any coach has a chance
  20. Tampa was middle of the pack last year in YAC. I think that's just a product of the chunk ball approach. You going to get some. Seattle was never a YAC team either. Frankly, if you are trying to make Bryce work....you need a Joe Brady-ish variant. Maybe a not green type that can work the ball in the redzone and isn't overseen by a complete numbskull like Rhule. Bills are #2 in the NFL in YAC per catch. Last time the Panthers sniffed great YAC was in 2020 when they made top 10 in YAC per catch. Joe Brady. We bragged about drafting some point guard to dish it out that isn't a big arm QB......and forgot about all the rest of the puzzle that might allow that to work.
  21. some of it's our weapons, some of it's our scheme/playcalling. Trying to win with Bryce Young and not fixating on YAC remains a silly experiment. That's why we are the saddest pass attack in the NFL under him. It's a horrible plan. And Canales is a chunk play OC. Another plan that makes no sense (but in fairness, the actual plan appeared for the chunk pass play OC to move on from him, hence the super quick benching). But it just leaves us in this oddball marriage going into next year.
  22. real YAC monsters aren't the vertical route runners. Real YAC players take nothing and turn into something. But yeah, it's also got to be part of the scheme and making that part of the O. if you look at the NFL YAC leaders. Top 15. 7 of them of RBs. Basically 50% of the leaders in YAC are RBs. Which is what I have stressed since the day we drafted Bryce. What we need is someone like Buffalo has. Shakir is #3 in the NFL. That's a slot/YAC guy. if Bryce Young is your QB, you need people that can do something with a checkdown pass. I don't like the marriages under Tepper. Never have. Nothing ever fits a real vision IMO. Started with Rhule. Random parts put together. That's David Tepper. That's been his way. You want Bryce? Fine. Get him the YAC players and scheme. We have never done that. Want a Canales? Cool. Get him a chunkball gambler for his O. Get him a QB that fits that.
  23. are you attempting to argue that AT is a YAC WR in the NFL.....because he caught some balls against the 30th ranked pass O? That's not what YAC and run after the catch is. AT is a savvy route running with great hands. He is going to catch balls if you highlight him. But it's basically throwing to a TE. TEs catch balls. AT probably had at most 10 yards YAC this weekend. The design of the O isn't even about that. It's why Bryce's throws are so often with the WR running toward a boundary. It also makes them safer throws. Designed for a miss to be out of play.
