  1. He was Pete Carroll's passing game coordinator. He was Pete Carroll's WR coach. He was Pete Carroll's QB coach. That's his coaching tree. That's where he saw success. You can't say that is meaningless......when he clearly took THAT knowledge and applied it to his OC gig in Tampa. And we are seeing that here. I'm not giving him credit for anyone's work. I'm just acknowledging how Dave Canales was made....and you literally can see how he has applied what he learned from Pete....in Tampa and now Carolina. Because he is playing Pete Carroll Seattle ball (which was always west coast Foxball).
  2. Frank made sense only in that.......the org was coming off the Rhule poo show. And the Frank era was basically going to the opposite end of the spectrum and trying to be NFL respectable again. I get that. But then Tepper paired the old dog coach up w/ some anomaly QB that would require Shanahan and unique weapons.
  3. Canales does have a system, way to play the game. It's methodical running to set up the big aggressive pass play downfield. Wilson, Geno, Baker. That's all he knows. Every stop of his career, that's what he was involved with. That's football to him. He isn't a creative type. He was always going to come in and be what he knows. He told us that. and once poo hits the fans, I don't listen to coaches make excuses on the microphone. Canales is being exactly what we hired. When we hired him, it was clear Foxball was returning.
  4. There just is no vision or plan that gets carried out. You can see that every step of the way. We get in our own way. Love or hate Rhule. There was a top down vision day one. That got scrapped because Teddy hurt feelings. A respectable plan thrown out the window and we went down the win now table scrap vet panic hunt. Teddy was supposed to get two years. Install the NO O variant. Provide stability and you draft a QB to bring up slowly. At least the initial plan made sense. They failed to execute it. Frank sort of made sense too. Hire all these boring old coaches. Get respectable. But then they spent all their resources on anomaly QB they didn't want or fit what the staff would be doing. Canales. I still contend there was a general consensus he didn't fit and they would move past Bryce and relatively fast. Two games in.....Bryce's career was ended here. The entire football world basically acknowledged it. But then....they failed to execute the plan. They didn't trade Bryce. They made things weird and let him back on the field and the media and fans ran with this "comeback" story that fugged them. Here we are. outside of Rhule, I'm not sure anyone was really horrible in a vacuum. It's horrible they way we put stuff together and fail to have any real vision.
  5. There is quote from Canales somewhere when we hired him. He was blunt he isn't some creative mind. He was going to come in here and do X......and that was going to be closer to Foxball than anything we have seen. And that largely has held true. It's why he REALLY needs that Jake Delhomme type. Baker was that. The downfield gunslinger. Big plays exist in his O. You need a gambling QB to go make them downfield. Bryce pulled the trigger once this week. But he is just bad at it. It was that Tmac deep ball that ended up being a PI. Tmac had his dude beat. That was the homerun ball this O sets up. But Bryce underthrew it. Tmac had to slam on the breaks and come to a full stop and wait for it. Those just aren't Bryce's throws. Sure we got the PI. Some might celebrate that aspect. But that throw highlights Bryce doesn't make those throws well. Your WR shouldn't have to come to a complete stop and wait....when he has the guy clearly beat for the over the top play. That's what the entire thing sets up. Bryce rarely takes the shot. When he does, it's generally not a great ball.
  6. yeah, true house cleaning is what should happen. But it's going to be REALLY hard to do that given qualified people don't want to come here. We saw that. Tepper even hired folks to help him. That's why we ended up w/ Dan and Canales. I don't think Tepper really meddles in the day to day really. I just think he hires bad people. Or more so, he creates environments where things don't mesh well. I think soccer has been easier for Tepper's approach and to find success. It's less complicated to a degree. Less parts to get on the same page.
  7. It's not that Tepper is meddling....it's that post Rhule he has been just expecting random pieces to just work out. The people don't fit together at key/pivotal spots. Rhule era was incompetence at the helm. Frank era was a bunch of random people. Then the player talent didn't match what the coaches would be doing. The Canales era is basically a repeat of the Frank era. Player talent doesn't align w/ what the coaches are doing. We are trying to run a 3-4 D without the fundamental players for a 3-4 D. The coach and staff are thrust upon the HC. On O, we hired a HC that runs an old school O and the key piece is a traditional downfield gunslinger to make that old approach work. Bryce isn't a QB that can make it work. He doesn't have the arm. What he does throw downfield is whack. Easiest fix right now is removing Bryce, Evero and probably Dan Morgan
  8. To me that gameplan was basically the AZ gameplan and others we saw post benching. Issue is Bryce can get in the way. From the jump it was clear it was a standard minimize Bryce day…..but he he still has to pass the ball.
  9. No, the WRs didn’t let him down. XL not getting his feet down on a ball he should have doesn’t fulfill the narrative his WR let him down. Every WR group, for every QB is out there playing imperfect games . Bryce Young doesn’t fit Dave’s offense. Just like he didn’t fit Franks. Technically, that is the orgs faults. I have spoken about that fact through great protest every season since we drafted him. So I’m not putting everything on Bryce. I can talk about square pegs and round holes all day. End of the day, the simple fix, is Bryce. Bryce is the biggest factor in why everyone sucks. He does the opposite of what you want your QB to do. He lowers everything, for everybody. He doesn’t make people better.
  10. Long list of QBs who were awesome at Bama….think likely has something to do with playing with a better roster than your opponents every week
  11. Yeah but then you are changing too many variables and re-creating more than I was doing. Now you are envisioning different separation, positioning, routes, etc. but 100%, they just inserted Renfrow into ATs job. Which isn’t how you use Renfrow. His routes really aren’t in the Canales O. Well, maybe the one where he got Bryce’s INT wiped was an example but they weren’t looking there.
  12. It was at some point his rookie season…really, when Frank had to give him that “break” 3 games in and for Dalton to play vs Seattle. While it was obvious he lacked the tools….i still contend that was peak between the ears of Bryce on top lacking the physical tools
  13. AT isn’t morphing through a defender on an under-throw. I’m sure you can find examples where he didn’t. His hands aren’t so good he defeats an instant helmet on the ball before time to secure it. I’m sure you can examples of where he didn’t do that either. there is some Bryce apologizing going on because you are now painting a picture WRs let him down today.
  14. No sir, didn’t question his hands in a single post. Ever. And I knock AT a lot. You won find a post on the huddle where I knock his hands. What you just did was find a stat about Adam’s play. Which is something totally different. the stat I was referencing was Bryce throwing to AT and the end result of that. Which is going to factor in more than AT’s play. Bryce becomes factored. His bad throws, balls, etc
  15. Yeah, but they weren’t. That’s why I say the legend is growing. Hunter’s weren’t drops. AT wasn’t pulling a nighcrawler and morphing throwing a defender on the underthrow…..and getting smashed with a helmet on the ball before the ball could even be secured. Like I said 1 out of 4 balls to AT weren’t a catch. And hands touched those balls. Some he didn’t touch. Some were poo throws. Into coverage. And broken up. this is low key being a Bryce apologist with this narrative and I can have no part in that
  16. the legend of AT grows! Fun fact - 1 out of every 4 balls thrown to Adam Thielen by Bryce weren’t caught by him. I would assume Bryce having the worst on target % in all the NFL is a key reason and putting folks in bad spots He would have got the XL ball because it was just simple feet though. The Renfrow stuff is just making AT into a myth.
  17. I thought they were making fun of Travis Hunter for basically just existing on that defensive rep vs the TMac slant. Hunter was basically standing and watching
  18. They need Coker back. Easiest solution IMO is to put Coker on the outside and view XL like a Laviska Shenault type WR. Which means he is an athlete and not a very good WR…that you can scheme up some plays for and maybe rotate him into the slot for them. And you would get his run blocking inside over Renfrow on occasion as well. Bryce Young just flat isn’t going to be a good fit for XL. He makes throw and catch challenging. Even when things are running “well” it’s a lot of tough catches and often touch catches to the sidelines where it’s extra hard.
  19. My takes. 2 wrongs and 1 right. Wrong - I thought TMac would take some time to deal with NFL coverage and it would take a couple weeks to get going Wrong - I thought XL was going to make a step forward and silence some that I had deemed a tad too hard Right - basically everything else I thought overall going into this season.
  20. I think the reality is he played long enough to simply have one random good game. That was week 18. A complete anomaly. Most of his “comeback” was very average NFL QB play. NFL average was deemed really good. But those were good for Bryce. But he wasn’t generating much offense in reality. But if a good day is NFL average play….normal day is sorta bad. And a bad day is horrible. Plus, teams now have an offseason to study a bad QB who is also an unnatural fit for the scheme he is in.
  21. I would rather lose with PJ Walker or Tommy Jone Delhomme. there is no excitement to Bryce Young’s passing. Never will be. Best aspect to his game is his small scramble ability…..which is only nice until a defender gets close because he has to go down given he is built like a middle school kid. So even that is capped. I just want to be entertained and believe a punchers chance is always there
  22. DBs have been cheating coverage and not playing true to their assignments every year Bryce has played. Especially the S. I think all 3 openers feature a S not respecting Bryce’s arm and dismissing their assignments to make plays.
  23. Carolina did the right thing last year moving on from Bryce last season after 2 games. The right move was to then trade him. He never sees the field again. They fugged that up and set this debacle up. to me, Bryce has always been year 3 Rhule. It’s not going to work yet we committed to a known pointless season
  24. Basically 50% of those passing yards were in the last half of the 4th quarter. it’s all Groundhogs Day.
