What about other teams OLs? Our QBs have been sacked 28 times (21 on BY).. This is virtually the lowest of any starting QB. Mahomes is at 35. Burrow at 33... Jayden Daniels is at 37 and CJ Stroud at 45. Yes others are lower but that's because good fuging luck sacking Allen lol.

How did they mess up so bad with Mayfield and Darnold,
mav1234 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not to mention the draft picks on O... Everyone saying we need to get Bryce more weapons needs to realize we did. The OL is the best "weapon" an offense CAN have, and we added skill players... Sure I'd love to add another WR if it's BPA... But we ultimately need to invest in defense and bring in some qb competition -
Bryce needs a perfect OL to have average to slightly above average passing production, as the last few weeks have shown. That's what we hang our hat on? Meh. He may very well be the best QB on the roster, but that isn't saying much at this point. I hope he bounces back to have a monster game next week. The issue is, that's basically 215 yards and a TD for him.

We've managed 24 points or more three times this year and only once with our current QB. We've scored 70 fewer points than the average NFL team. Our defense IS worse than our offense, but we spent so much more on offense this offseason. -
The defense blew against Dallas, but they're playing beyond their talent level overall. We had injuries to the worst possible players to have injuries on D because we were so thin at their positions. But it's so hard to overcome an inept offense...

I mean... He may not be a problem, but when is he ever the solution? I think that's my concern... And you'd be right about 3 of the last 4 games... What about over the last 20 Bryce started?

DJ Moore set the franchise back YEARS by taking his helmet off.

Tepper Rhule Drafting BY over Stroud -

Why not explain? -
Yup. We have seen some of these TE routes when Tremble is in, I'd be curious why we don't with Sanders. In general I think we need to find ways to get the ball into his (and Coker's) hands as much as possible

Ehh 2 of our OL had 50-60s, which is not great comparatively but Bryce was a 39 and second lowest graded player on offense... I do not understand why we weren't chipping edges etc, and we ran empty what seemed like far too often. I think the idea was to beat the rush with quick routes but man, several times rushers were practically unblocked... Second bold is my concern. He did not read the field at all. He honestly was not reading the field well vs the Eagles either, tho he still was playing much better there.
-
I'd rather he be regularly used as a CB and just have an occasional offensive down. If he's playing 50/50 we need to two other players to cover the other 50s because nobody else is going to be able to do that. Plus rhythm and familiarity on both sides of the ball is a big deal for a team... I'm not say never play him on O or anything like that, but i think he needs to be drafted as less of a slash player and more of a CB with some dynamic sprinkling into the O.

Scott Fowler on game, Young, Panthers. Not wrong
mav1234 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I haven't looked at all the QB prospects but maybe there's a historically undersized QB with bad fundamentals we can reach for -
Impossible to win if the most important position on the field plays that poorly. But at least he wasn't alone in sucking...

Mayfield and Darnold are both much more physically gifted. Their questions were always decision making (frankly imo still are) That was supposedly Young's strength but I feel he's as inconsistent there as his footwork is.
-
Icky had a terrible game but has had a good overall season... So no.
-
Uhhh Bryce was blitzed many times... And they were effective when they usually arent. But the front four also got pressure for them.

Pretty hard to build a defense with a bunch of cast aways. We gave up everything to put our offense in a place to succeed and well that went real well.

Almost no passes beyond 10 yards. Yuck.

That's how I feel, too, but I'm willing to be wrong. I just don't expect that to happen.

He's been the reason we've been in games, he's been the reason we've lost games, he's even been why we've pulled out a narrow win. I'd like to see him actually take over a game and really win it for us. I just don't think he's able to...

What Bryce really needs is to play the Panthers defense
-
I thought I saw his arm get punched as he was going harder. Also says a lot more about you than the hit itself
-
I do think it was a better punch than that, but imo that's irrelevant - the dude needs to fuging slide in that circumstance. He's not getting a first down either way.

I don't blame people for not *giving up* on Young after this game, but realistically, this is much more similar to his career to date than the games vs KC and TB (imo his 2 best) were. That is what concerns me. This wasn't just a ho-hum meh kind of day, which tbh I was expecting (and how i'd describe NO and NYG), but it was a "wheels fall off, Young fugs the team over" kind of day (his opening drive fumble and opening half fumble absolutely ruined our chances of being competitive). He wasn't alone in his sucking, no, but unlike, say, our OL which has played near the top of the league all year - he simply 'returned to form.' If the lows are this low, his highs just aren't worth leaning / building a team around. Because although I really liked what he did vs TB and KC (and to an extent the Eagles, but I think we saw some cracks there too), he is ultimately severely limited in terms of physical talent and has yet to really deliver a total performance of a game. Not saying cut him. I think he'd probably be a pretty good backup, tbh. But let's start looking to rebuild our QB room this season and have a real competition in the offseason.

Basically agree 100%. Cam didn't need to be the most accurate passer to be an incredible player and quarterback, but the way he approached and played the game was ahead of his time to the point where a lot of idiot fanbase didn't really understand exactly what we had. But... Only thing I'll say is Cam also broke himself, in part, as any NFL player with his mindset would when giving it all. We did try to provide him some support by Gettleman and Hurney were fuging idiots with how they approached that - personally I think as much or more with what coaches they brought in, rather than necessarily / only with the talent they tried to put around him. Chud was our only innovative OC in Cam's entire time as a Panther...
