  1. Canales is coaching for draft position. Nothing else makes sense
  2. It's impossible to say if he would have looked elite... I guess if you're saying he wouldn't be in the discussion of one of the best QBs in the league with us, probably true, lol, but I think he'd probably still show that talent. We don't know how that offense runs with CJ... Dalton made it look pretty decent in his one start. I doubt that CJ has the season he had with the Texans, but he also elevated Nico Collins a ton and took a journeyman in Noah Brown to his highest YPR of his career (4 more than any other year before it).
  3. I mean putting aside the fact that at this point any completion past the line of scrimmage from him feels like an accomplishment... Running an offense that can move the ball down the field. On target throws to different levels downfield. Ideally showing some playmaking ability, but also finding the open man. I don't really care about specific stats with Bryce.
  4. I was fine with slightly overpaying Johnson until he started to clearly quit and somewhat throw teammates under the bus. I don't blame him for the frustration but it doesn't mean it endears me to him.
  5. Those of you that don't think it's worth re-signing him (to something reasonable), why? How long do you expect an NFL rebuild to take?
  6. Darnold has been streaky before, but I hope he's fixed his decision making issues. Dude has a lot of talent, the problem was always between his ears. Talk about a comeback if he keeps this up, damn As to Dalton, makes you realize just how much trouble BY has been having in the NFL. Maybe some day BY will have his own redemption story, but for now, it's Red Rifle time.
  7. Bryce Young had one good football game. Take that away, and you have maybe 2-3 NFL-level throws per game. Not elite or amazing throws; just NFL-level. He had maybe a handful across the entire season of plays that made me go "Damn, that was a great play." QBs with a lot of talent find ways to shine even on bad teams. BY just didn't. Has a QB ever come back from such a disastrously bad start to his career?
  8. I see. If his agent is upfront that he has no intention to stay, then obviously moving him at some point becomes important. I think at this point in the season, a 4th rounder for him is really bad value all things considered, but if it's all we have closer to the trade deadline, makes sense to get something for him. I also wouldn't be surprised if those comments are based on two weeks of Bryce Young. Curious to see how he feels as the season goes on.
  9. Why are we assuming we will absolutely lose him this offseason?
  10. One might even say relying on AI is a trap, huh?
  11. He needed a little pick me up, it's been a rough week+ for him.
  12. I think people use game manager in a few different ways. So I think it's always hard to have these conversations lol. One is contrasted with gunslinger and refers to the style of play. The game manager isn't flashy but limits mistakes and is highly consistent. They are reliable, and that isn't to say they can't make plays to win games, but their general style tends towards taking what they can get rather than risking the big play when it might mean a critical turnover. In this context, it isn't really a comment on the quality of the player. Another way is contrasted to a franchise QB, implying that the player may be good enough to win some things, but can still be upgraded. In this context, implies the player is worse than what an organization would ideally want if it were to consider the QB position settled. Another refers to a player that reads the game and plays according to what's necessary. This is often just said as managing the game rather than as a game manager. Brady is famous for managing games VERY well, but save for a few early seasons it's hard to fit him into other definitions of the term. One final way is kinda a mix of the above and is used to refer to a QB that isn't going to win you a Superbowl. Definitely a comment on ability. Often on play style, too, implying a degree of risk adverse play.
  13. Bryce was historically bad. He had like four drives total to point to over an entire season where he looked like a competent QB, and none where he looked elite (or hardly even as good as Dalton on Sunday). But... Would we get more for him in the off-season? Would we possibly be in a situation where playing him is good for us (aka if Dalton is injured and we're not looking competitive even with him)? Tho maybe if Dalton keeps balling out, BY or his surrogates force an exit.
  14. No thanks. Dude is over hyped and over paid. Maybe for less as a backup but this move would set us back. Which means we'll probably do it
  15. tbh, can't judge anything on offense in the first two weeks, and it's hard to judge the D given what they knew was on the other side of the ball. Definitely excited about XL. Hoping Thielen gets right soon tho, he's been so consistent and solid despite everything around him, and has previously shown great chemistry with Dalton last season.
  16. That and it's much easier to play with a purpose when you trust the offense to move the ball...
  17. What exactly does Bryce do so well you could build an offense around his unicorn abilities? The dude just doesn't have it right now and I doubt he ever will. He was a mistake to draft but he was supposed to be super pro ready blah blah...
  18. Our org can be terrible and a bad landing spot... And Young can also be really, really bad. I've not seen a 1st round QB show so little since... Man I don't even know. Even last year, it was clear he was at least a part of the problem on offense. He started all year and was worse than even backups. Who gets so many chances? Even Pickles (not a 1st rounder) only played so much because of an injury to Moore. Whatever. If blaming the org makes Miami or someone else willing to trade for him, hell yeah, it's all the orgs fault
  19. Bryce has had to be protected at every step of his pro career. He's just not it. It's sad, because he seems likeable. But he just isn't it. Our org blows but so does he.
  20. I mean, Reich would be our coach and we'd be a darkhorse playoff cntender if Stroud was our QB. instead, we'll all be betting on if we can even finish the season with 1 win. A good QB can carry a team. A medicore QB can do enough to win. Young is so bad that he is making the team around him worse. Nobody believes in him. Nobody should. He isn't even gonna make it as a backup.
  21. Calling Bryce a quarterback is a little bit ridiculous.
  22. I don't care who the couch is running the offense, when your QB caps out at 5 yard passes there's no fuging point. Bench Young
  23. I've never been so uninterested in Panthers football... Ugh. Bryce Young makes everyone around him worse.
