  1. oh I think the game was, for all practical intents and purposes, over for ~half an hour before Goodell did whatever he finally did. The players were not continuing.
  2. yeah I think so. My assumption was the officials were telling the coaches the game had been canceled, but with the amount of time it took to hit the rest of us, I don't think so. I think it was the opposite - the coaches telling the officials the players would not be resuming play tonight. edit: referring here to the discussions outside the Bills lockeroom
  3. I mean the coaches actually did have to intervene to prevent the officials from warming the players up and returning to the field. Then we had to wait how long for anything close to an official announcement? Really fuged up response IMO.
  4. I think we are all in a bit of shock and reacted strongly in various ways. But the fans in the stadium, even more than us, are likely in an extreme state of confusion and shock given what they saw live.
  5. fuging disgusting clown piece of poo. cancel the game and figure it out later. love the stupid shitty throw-away at the end. what a garbage person.
  6. only because the players/coaches refused to play. or that's how the NFL has now made this look. which is absolutely pathetic.
  7. right, not sure what's hard about this. As long as there are no safety complications for fans or players associated with announcing the cancellation quickly (no idea what those would even be, but just saying), no reason at all to wait this fuging long. disgusting
  8. Some of them may have been expecting positive news about the player, or may have just been waiting for lots to empty etc... don't judge the fans in this circumstance.
  9. his typical bullshit hot-take with a throw-away line at the end. disgusting
  10. Not going to check it again but basically a "how could the NFL possibly postpone a game with such important ramifications, even if this is an awful situation". I may be paraphrasing it worse than it was but it was pretty shitty
  11. If it's his call this is on his shoulders for not making a decision sooner. What the fug
  12. The game has got to be already cancelled and the NFL isn't making the announcement public yet for some reason. There's no way they still think this game can go on.
  13. I doubt the Bengals players want to continue either. The NFL has to understand. They may just not want to make an announcement without letting the coaches know first
  14. Coaches for both teams and referees are meeting now. They're surely cancelling the game (or postponing it indefinitely whatever).
  15. I meant hiring Wilks at all on the staff seems like it has a "Tepper decision" feel to me. Interim is different, definitely their choice.
  16. The only argument I'd make to the contrary of this is Wilks' hiring (and subsequent elevation to interim HC).
  17. That's fair. I think we've heard from other sources he really doesn't meddle, but those are obviously sources close to the org so who knows if you can trust them. edit: I think the only thing we know for sure is: 1) Tepper was repeatedly said to have wanted Fields and pushed for his drafting in pursuit of a superstar franchise QB, and 2) We ended up with Wilks on the coaching staff, who had no real connections at all to Rhule, who was made interim HC, which really looks like a move by the owner.
  18. *checks where TMJ went to college* well.
  19. MOST DCs seem cut from the same cloth. I think they see the offense as losing them the game more often than not. Not controlling the ball long enough, or having a turnover, or whatever, that makes their defense have trouble. They want the game low-scoring, so their defense has a chance to control the tempo of the game. That's an outdated way of playing IMO. Can it work? To an extent, yes, and especially with the right QB. But most of us want to go out and win games, bury teams entirely, and take risks on offense to put ourselves in position to win, not just to avoid losing.
  20. I think Tremble has also had a very long way to go at being a complete TE. And with Rhule as his coach for his whole career until now, what can you say? Bozeman is our highest priority, I agree. The growth of the OL is undeniable. It is so nice not to be going into an offseason with multiple OL positions as complete unknowns. RE: Sam, yes. He's a top tier backup it seems. Given how desperate teams are, it is possible he will get a starter guarantee elsewhere and with it good money, but I do hope he comes back to be our bridge, and we actually do the bridge QB thing right.
  21. It is absolutely not Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones meddling to have discussions with your GM about potential trade of star/perceived star players. I mean, we absolutely know that Tepper, who wanted Fields, let his GM and HC overrule him. But he also probably forced Rhule to put Wilks on his staff. We know that Jones has been the one to make draft selections in the past, which Tepper does not do. We also know he has forced coaches on staff, which Tepper may have done - but, most of us actually saw that as a necessity. I actually think that by letting him have control early of his staff he demonstrated he ISN'T Jones. What's weird to me is this forum has people that say all of these things in the same breath: Tepper is an idiot for hiring Rhule and letting him pick his staff, but meddles at the degree of Jerry Jones in player and coach choices.
  22. I don't know what was going on with him and Bozeman that game. I don't fault him for the Ickey sack-fumble. I do for the INT. Can't turn over the ball in games like that. He doesn't have control over the OL, but he does where / when / how he throws the ball, and he made the right read and the wrong throw.
