Tanking does not guarantee a good QB
ForJimmy replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think they just want a top pick. Number 1 picks often go to bad situations. I’m pretty certain we will have a top pick tanking or not. I also don’t see Wilks “tanking” this season. -

Absolutely. You need a good coach and supporting cast to develop your QB. Stafford just showed what a difference that can make. The constant playoff threats GB, KC, Balt, Buff typically have a 1st round QB paired with a good coach and team. Once Herbert gets a good coach LAC will be in the mix as well. -

The last SB was between two number 1 picks. Cam was the best thing to happen to our franchise as a number 1 pick. Get the number 1 pick right and develop him and you have some stability. Never draft a QB and at best you are the Colts. -

Sorry it was some low hanging fruit from the guy who also doesn't like "running" QBs. -

YA Tittle from 1948???? You think Flynn was good? He was a 7th round pick that couldn’t land a starting job anywhere he went… -

There has been different coaches/schemes over that time. LSU had Flynn and Russell, should they have avoided Burrow? Any good QBs out if Tennessee before Manning? Auburn before Cam? Texas Tech before Mahomes? Oregon before Herbert had Mariotta and Harrington? Like I said, illogical…. -

If any rookie was in Fields situation, I would expect similar results. Writing off all OSU QBs because of that seems illogical to me. -

Yep in that case we should just draft Levis at 2 if he is our guy. Honestly that might not even be a reach for him depending on the rest of the season. -
He also hit two guys in the hands for the win. Not to mention he had the same random WR that dropped that first down fumble away the previous game. He was a top passer in college when he had an OL and weapons. Just listen to the commentators talk about how they aren’t developing him properly.

I can’t believe that Bear’s roster is a NFL roster…

At some point we really need to draft a QB. Most starters are first round picks. So we likely need to get our guy there. It doesn’t have to be the top pick, but we need to find a solution via the draft.- 115 replies

He threw a TD, but almost died doing it.

He couldn’t even do a 3 step drop without getting hit. Damn…

Banking on a 3rd round QB with an injury history isn’t the best strategy IMO. Especially one that struggled in the preseason.

Comparing Fields to Stroud is like comparing Hurts to Mac Jones. They are totally different QBs that just went to the same school.

Orange helmets with the orange C looks bad.

Here he is freshman year (at a small school), but I like how he can maneuver the pocket while staying calm and keeping his eyes down field. He has all the throwing motions down and can actually switch to his left hand when needed. He threw a lefty pass at WSU, but his WR dropped the pass (happens a lot for him). -

You don't think it's Stroud? Also who do you like? Just curious... -

Yeah especially that “running” QB from Auburn. -

Corral hasd trouble staying healthy in college and immediately gets hurt in the NFL. I wouldn't go all in on a 3rd round QB from the previous staff, who hasn't shown he can stay healthy. I think we should keep in and let him compete with whoever we draft. At worst he can be a cheap backup. -I'm thinking 1 is Stroud, top 5 is Levis, outside of the top 10 we can look at Ward, McCall, or Penix. I wouldn't be against trading down if we can't get Stroud.
