His rookie year, playing for the worst team in the league that just drafted him number 1 overall he put up better numbers than Sam ever has. 3700 yards 27 TDs 14 INTs. He is not a super star, but way better than Sam.

Yeah Baker’s rookie season with 3700 yards 27 TDs 14 INTs was better than anything Darnold has done. That was playing for the worst team in the league. 2/4 years he was good and he played hurt last year (still put up better numbers than Darnold) while losing Beckham mid season and Landry and Chubb missed time. He was also sacked more than Sam so there goes the elite OL theory. He is a pretty high upgrade over Darnold because he is actually a capable starter. It’s really not that debatable. Darnold is complete garbage…

It’s funny because he had the same cast that Teddy did with us and made our offense look so bad our OC got fired. He is constantly in the bottom of the league for QB rating and stats. Baker went to the worst team in the league and had them in the playoffs in several years. Everyone knows why you won’t pull up 2020’s stats when both QBs were healthy. Darnold was IRed this year when he was hurt and Baker tried to play through his. So you can cherry pick stats (where Baker still was better ), put up random video clips, but he is much better than Sam. The sad thing is, I’m not even saying Baker is great, he is middle of the pack average with a little potential. Sam is just that bad that Baker would be a upgrade.

Lol you are comparing Baker with his injured shoulder and he STILL tops Darnold. Ok now do the previous year when he was healthy…

That's the waiting game we are playing. He may chose to go be a backup somewhere like Mitch did at Buffalo vs sign with us. If we can get him for a later round pick AND they eat most his salary (like Denver did to us with Teddy) then that might be the best route to take. I believe the Teddy/Denver trade happened right before the draft so maybe this is the window to strike...

When healthy he took the Browns to their first playoff game in a long time. Just because he liked them over him in the draft doesn't mean he still does after he sees how they developed. You have to look at our options. 1. Roll with Sam again with an improved OL (drafting a LT at 6) 2. Roll with a rookie in a class that needs developing (is rookie Pickett an upgrade?). Plus you would lose the 6th pick option of drafting a LT. 3. Pray some team trades down with you in a draft that doesn't have a bonified top 10 talent gap. You lose the 6th pick LT again here. 4. Roll with Baker for cheap and draft your LT at 6. Baker > Darnold and it's not close really. Plus our OL should be solid for a while if we draft a LT at 6. This significantly upgrades our two weakest positions. If Rhule is looking to win now this is the best option IMO. It also allows us to easily move on from Baker and draft a QB next year to play behind a solid OL. It's a good short term/long term play really...

If we can get him for something like next year’s 3rd/4th and this year’s 6th and they eat at least half his salary I’d be ok. Grab Neal/Icky/Cross at 6 and a project like Glass late in the draft. Our QB depth can be Baker, Sam, Glass (or Glass can go to practice squad), and our OL will be as solid (on paper) as it’s been in a while. If it blows up Baker is a FA next year and we have a nice crop of QBs in the draft to look at with most of our picks still available. Meanwhile Glass can be developing into a backup with some potential for the next year.

His best magic trick is making our offensive possession disappear.

It will be interesting to see his 2020 numbers in the same metric. His OL did much better than year and he had a couple weapons to work with...

True. That's why I don't think we will pass on an elite talent like Neal or Icky even if they think Brady looked solid. LT is a premium position, possibly the most important outside of QB and we have needed one for a while now.

The best thing they can do is let Campen make the call. He knows OL. I think having a 3rd round rookie jump around different spots of the OL was a little reckless in his development. Had they let him have reps and stay at LT the whole season we would probably have a lot more of these questions answered. I feel way more comfortable with Campen on this staff.

Yeah I’m not going by what you saw because apparently it was different that what everyone else saw. His pressures allowed, PFF etc was solid. I don’t think that stops us from drafting a Neal or Icky, but he looked capable.

The problem is they moved Brady all over the place. He only started his last 2 games at LT (his natural position) and looked pretty solid. The question is why didn’t we play him there sooner as Erving/Scott weren’t good at all there.

I stand corrected the Bowl Game is what I was thinking of. His numbers also came down against LSU when he was out. 2 TDs and 2 INTs. You are right though, looking back at the numbers he was still pretty solid.

The thing is you get a guy like that and give him a QB guru and the possibilities are endless. I mean Burrow adjusted his throwing motion and increased his velocity this offseason. Imagine what that looks like for someone with that gifted of an arm already.

Come on now. How many seasons are we going to throw away to give this man another chance. Might as well try Josh Rosen or another QB that busted after a couple years. 4 years with 2 different teams and more OCs and still complete crap when a play breaks down.

Even all the beloved scouts these guys swear by will tell you Willis is an athletic freak. He is just being a hater. The main question with Willis is can he be developed properly into a NFL QB. The physical tools aren’t a question at all. Strongest arm and very fast for the position.

The ONE thing Rhule is good at is beating Kliff Kingsbury…
