Man you really aren’t grasping it. The Browns OL is a solid unit. They helped Baker get that terrible franchise to the playoffs in 2020. LAST YEAR they were banged up and didn’t play well with the backup tackles. As already stated Baker (who was injured week 2) was sacked more than Sam last year with higher pressure rates and less average pocket time. The data shows Baker was pressured more often with less pocket time last year. The Browns had several starters out throughout the year so yes before the season started they were ranked in the top 10 based on talent and history. However that doesn’t matter because that unit was changing throughout the season with injuries and @poundawayis giving you the data that shows Baker’s OL wasn’t that great though out the actual season at pass protection. Both Darnold and Baker had bad pass protecting OLs last season and Baker STILL played better than Sam with one shoulder and a bad planting foot. Saying a QB that took the Browns to the playoffs, beat the Steelers while posting a QBR in the top 10 in 2020 is BARELY better than Sam is the only fake news I see here. Baker can be solid and has shown he is a capable starting QB. Sam should never start for a NFL team again.

Yeah they had some injuries and were much better at run blocking than pass blocking (Chubb also broke a lot of tackles). Like you stated that doesn’t help the QB when they allow constant pressure, especially when that QB is already banged up….

Mac and Zach were also 1st rounds picks in which were considered “pro ready” and their teams needed them to start sooner vs later. Zach didn’t look ready and got dominated his first few starts. Forcing a rookie to start right away seems rushed and foolish when we don’t have to.

Do you think that’s why Bozeman was with the 2s today and Elf with the 1s? To help Baker get acclimated to his new center (Bozeman). If Bozeman is with the 1s tomorrow with Baker it will be interesting.
