We really didn’t get a long enough look at him to tell. With that said, I wouldn’t let his presence prevent us from drafting an elite one at 6. It’s such a crucial position.

I’m not sure any of them get us a high 1st. A late first is CMC (maybe) and Burns. I would say Moore, but his lack of TDs hurts.

And what elite talent did Burrow have to make him a number one pick? Arm/athletic ability was average and his hands were small. He was simply the best in the NCAA at playing QB. They looked at his numbers and record breaking season and were blown away. Pickett is just that on a smaller level. He didn’t quite hit Burrow’s numbers and of course win the championship. Burrow had a more talented team, but played against more talented defenses. Regardless I feel like this conversation is going to go in circles. You aren’t high on Pickett and I don’t really have any issues with him. As usual you gave brought up good counter points though and I’ve enjoyed the debate!

With less talent around him. Yeah it shows you how dysfunctional his team is. Maybe they will do him a favor and trade him to a talent team like the Lions did with Stafford.

I’m saying you can’t discredit all of Derek Carr’s stats/data because he hasn’t won in the playoffs with a bad team. A QB who people justified as the top in his class couldn’t either so it’s not really a knock on him.

It explains how good he had actually been for a lackluster team. If we get that kind of play out if our QB then it’s absolutely worth a 1st. Like I’ve been saying is 6 overdrafting him? Yes. QBs have and will continue to get overdrafted in this league and rightfully so. It’s the most important position by a long shot.

Stafford had the resume and talent to be number one yet STILL couldn’t win without talent around him. That’s my point. You need talent around your QB to win in the playoffs. Stafford got talent and look what happened.

Stafford was the number one pick. You have to build a team around QBs. The Raiders haven’t been the best ran team kind of like the Lions…

He had a pretty solid season last year. Right there behind Rodgers for MVP, but year he has to have a drop off eventually…

I get that 6 is high for him, but where is he rated 16th? Being a QB is going to get him over-drafted. I’m just saying he is a solid prospect and it won’t be that bad if we over-draft him. Many analysts have him as the top rated QB on this class and we are either going to overpay/trade away assets for another vet QB or draft one. Option B is safer and easier to overcome if he does struggle.

Yeah he outplayed where he was drafted…. You know that’s possible right? Russ and Dak were 3rd, Brady was 6th, Brees was a 2nd. Come on man you are better than that.

Yeah WTF would the Manning’s know about QBs. How about he had a conference breaking year statistically passing Watson (the guy we want to trade our roster for) this past season while delivering a subpar Pitt team the ACC Championship? Maybe, just maybe that’s where the hype is coming from?

That was where they are ranked. Backups get drafted in the 3rd/later, starters (especially QBs) go in the first.

I’m a bit of an optimist, but I think Wilks is going to have Henderson and Horn playing well by the end of the year. Horn was already showing he is the real deal before he got hurt, and Henderson needs a coach to light his fire and I think Wilks is the man for the job. I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts Robinson at FS. I kind of want Franklin/Burris at SS and Chinn to slide up to LB with Shaq. I also think year 3 is going to be good for Brown/YGM. They regressed a little last year and hopefully they took that personally this offseason. YGM has a chance to start this year with Reddick gone. The defense can be pretty solid even without adding too many new pieces and losing Gilmore, Jackson, Reddick. On offense McAdoo saw something in Thomas and wanted to extend him. Hopefully we run some 2 TE sets to help our OL and utilize Tremble/Thomas in McAdoo’s offense. Finally I hope our new OL coach can further develop BC and get some great play out if him rather it’s LT or he slides to LG if we draft Cross at 6.
