No but if we pass on one who turns another franchise around you bet your ass I’ll be bitter.
-
Why you gotta ruin my day….
-
If you don’t like what you see you don’t draft one. I just said there is one they are high on, they should just draft him.
-
Just giving examples of teams that got their QBs and built around them. Of course there aren’t identical prospects as before. My point is if there is one we are high on we should just draft him.
-
Blindly throwing darts? You analyze each prospect and see if one fits what we are looking for. Herbert was a bit of a question mark as he underperformed in Oregon’s system. Allen was a surprise as well, but they found one they liked and went ahead and drafted him.
-
Burrow will be the first NCAA Championship winner to win the Super Bowl in a long time. I mean with that logic should we target UGA’s QB? (No thanks) Allen was incredibly raw and people are saying the same thing about Willis, but Herbert is turning around LAC pretty quickly. He came into a OL as bad as ours. They drafted Slater AFTER they already had their QB. Herbert wasn’t a champ (which doesn’t seem to have any correlation) or a Heisman winner. LAC is in a prime position to make a playoff run, hell they almost made it this year.

People are acting like if we don’t take a OL at 6 our line will be the exact same. BC and Brown should be better, FA is a possible solution for interior OL, you just have to pay for the good ones. BC, FA, ELF, Brown, and Moton is instantly better than what we have. Now throw in some 4-7th rounders and have some competition. The OL can be addressed without using our first rounder on it. QB can be also, but we have failed at it twice now.

David Carr may have just been a bust like many other QBs. You have to draft one to have a chance. Herbert with LAC, Burrow with the Bengals, Murray with the Cards, Allen with Buffalo. Once you have your QB it becomes a lot easier to plug in pieces around him. The Colts and WFT are wasting years of talented players because they can’t find a QB to put in their talented rosters. These good players on teams they are building are also going to want to be paid soon. There is a reason why QBs are “overvalued” in the draft, because they can flip a franchise quicker than any other position.

That’s what teams that are already good do. Cowher had them playing great before Big Ben was drafted with Stewart and Maddox (briefly). The Chiefs were able to do it with Mahomes and the Ravens with Jackson. The problem is when you are already at the bottom like we are the quickest way to turn it around is finding your QB then building around him.

I kind of want Pickett to do great in the Senior Bowl/Combine so someone like the Giants draft him ahead of us. Howell/Willis makes the most sense for our team, but Rhule could definitely screw it up and take Pickett at 6…
-
Agree 100%. Both are big arms QBs who carried shaky rosters throughout the season. Both had terrible lines and kept their teams competitive. I think Howell might have a higher floor (more polished passer, better competition), but Willis has the highest ceiling (stronger arm, better overall athlete).

If I remember correctly Burrow was really wanting Chase. As someone already posted they already had a decent LT, so they drafted Chase and made their franchise QB happy. It wasn’t that big of a reach or surprise really.

It’s the direction of the team. After year 2 Taylor already had a bright young QB went from 2 to 4 wins (still shitty, but an improvement with his QB going on IR), and was in position to snag an elite weapon (Chase) or elite blocker (Sewell) to grow with Burrow. Rhule has an expensive, terrible QB in Darnold, only 1/5 good OL, and overpriced weapon in Robbie and an injury prone, expensive RB with only one pick in the first 3 rounds. His team went from 5-11 to 5-12 after starting 3-0. People were picking the Bengals to make some noise this year, while we are being picked at having a chance at the number one pick next year.
-
2019 he was 2-14 which was terrible and allowed him to get Burris. 2020 he was 4-12 (Burrow got hurt) and year 3 he was 10-7 and in the Super Bowl. That’s a 3 year turnaround, which is all I am saying. I’m not ever saying Taylor is a great coach, but it took 3 years to get to the big game because he drafted a great QB. Quick turnarounds are possible, but you have to get a QB which is usually fine by drafting one.

Green Bay lost the one game Rodgers didn’t play and the offense looked like poo. Not taking away from Burrow or Kupp, but the regular season MVP race should have Rodgers name in it. The playoffs on the other hand, Burrow and Kupp are crushing it and Rodgers didn’t look so good.
-
You can’t have 100% roster turnover. New coaches start new eras typically. We have had Jansen forever lol. Shaq, CMC, and Moore were all here before Rhule was. Their coach went through growing pains his first year, got the top pick (Burrow) and then drafted his teammate (Chase) the following year to create one of the top QB/WR combos. He also drafted Higgins with Burrow.
-
Not a Rodgers fan, but you can’t hold it against him that he can consistently put up MVP numbers…
-
2 QBs played well behind shitty lines in college this past year. Howell and Willis. Howell will probably be ready to start sooner with a higher floor, and Willis has the highest ceiling of any QB in the draft. Dream scenario would be trade down and draft one of these two…
-
I wouldn’t hate it. It would give me something to be excited about as a fan. Plus I want to say “Watch you talkin’ about Willis?” during his interviews.
-
Yeah I don’t get why this is so hard for people to grasp. Draft a QB and use the rookie deal cap space to build around him. Once his contract is due he should be good enough to somewhat carry a team. If your drafted QB busts, you start over and try it again.
-
When did they hire their new coach and what was their record when they got him? I mean we have been “rebuilding” for the past 6 years otherwise… It’s more like a 3 year process for their Super Bowl, tore it down in 2019 and were terrible, drafted Burrow and turned it around very quickly.
-
Right out if range from drafting one of the top QBs next year. Might as well extend Darnold another year…

What is Rhule going to give up for Jimmy G?
