I'd love to see XL get some reps. Sounds like he is almost 100%. I wonder if we hold Dalton out to keep him healthy in preseason game 2. After seeing Plummer they might realize how important Dalton is to this roster.

No doubt Plummer was hard to watch. He also limited our offensive reps because we couldn't get any first downs.

That's why I don't think he is hiding it. I mean we sucked just as bad in Week 18 (maybe worse) than we did in Week 1. I don't think having starters get more snaps in preseason was going to change that. People like to point to last year, but we were just bad last year preseason aside. I think he is genuinely trying to see what he has for depth/roster spots. He wants to see if these guys who have little to like live game reps are capable of doing so at a high level.

On a side note the Commanders just signed Bryant. The WR that people on here were crying at us for showing a little interest.

But then he said that he is comfortable making them now right? I've seen him make contested throws even last year. They weren't the bomb passes like people are wanting to see, but that showed off his anticipation and touch which he has in the mid to short passes. I hope we don't have to watch Plummer again for 3 plus quarters. I'm glad to see Clowney showing up against Moton. He need him to show out this year.

It’s irrelevant. They are playing Bryce this year unless he gets hurt. I’m saying QB3 is a random position to rank as it rarely gets used. Also the Ravens and Bengals have dealt with QB injuries yet they still have some random QB3.

So random. Some teams don’t even carry 3 QBs right? I mean look who is around us…. Eagles, Ravens, Bengals, Chiefs.

It's just all about value IMO. If you have a spot at QB3 and a QB you had ranked has dropped to a lower round vs other positions, I'm all for it. If we had a 4th round round on Milton and he is sitting there in the 6th for us, I'd be more than ok with drafting him. Same goes for most positions though.

I think you are talking about starters specifically. He is saying a lot of these late round guys are good special team players for us. QB3 is probably not seeing the field at all outside of preseason. Sorry to interrupt, but both of you two have great points I think you are both talking about different situations though. I will say this. With the 17 game and now possibly 18 game season, backup QBs are becoming more important because there is a high chance they will be playing a game or two. That probably makes the QB3 more important than in recent history.

I'd be a little cautious though. They were playing against guys that might not make our team and our depth sucks. Zappe should have picked them apart given his experience. Milton hit a nice open WR with about 4 seconds in the pocket, he almost threw a pick 6 too. I wouldn't be championing for their QBs so soon. I would imagine Zappe is the odd man out and I'm not sure if he brings much to us as QB3. A higher upside QB would make more sense. The Pats QBs are just the Huddle's crush of the week.
