  1. No one thinks he is putting up 40 with this roster. If he can go then ahead and promote him now. We are looking for an offense that has a pulse. How about at least 3 whole offensive TDs for starters. Hopefully we see an up-tempo offense in rhythm that gives us some hope and possibly a win. Also we only have one OG coming back this year our other starter won't be.
  2. I don't think they were "in love" with him. I think he was their preference, but they weren't willing to part with what we did for him. DJ Moore on a decent contract was a big selling point for the Bears. At one point they mentioned the number 2 pick was for sale, but again who knows what is true or not. Also I don't doubt teams had Young off their boards. Any team wanting to have their QB under center most of the time or use their QB as a runner shouldn't consider Young. I just don't think the Texans were one of those teams. Shefter and Glazer are pretty solid sources IMO. I don't see one that says the Texans never had Young on their board?
  3. https://nypost.com/2023/04/13/2023-nfl-draft-adam-schefter-calls-bryce-youngs-texans-visit-a-waste/ “I think Bryce Young is going to be the No. 1 pick. [The Texans] are not going to have a chance to take the guy that, I think, they would have liked to have taken.” Schefter also thinks they wanted him.
  4. This is definitely part of it. We have at least 14 points scored by the defense Franklin at Minnesota and Hill this past Sunday as well. Plus we have been turning it over regularly aside from last game. Is also doesn't help that our best CB, both Safeties, and MLB have been injured most of the season.
  5. I'm going to tell my grandchildren about those two TDs one day.
  6. With Bryce being a smaller (smallest) QB we might want to slide Icky over to LG and draft a more nimble LT. OGs are possibly more important to shorter QBs than OTs are. Icky would be a great LG IMO. The sad thing is this is actually what that PantherKing guy was saying before the season started... You know who I am talking about.
  7. Oh poo! Straight from the creator himself! What did you do?
  8. I thought I read where Brown helped create the offense. Maybe he is going to lean more towards the plays he likes/created.
  9. On the outside I would guess it has dropped, but people smarter than us are able to separate the player from the situation. I'd say he is still a first rounder but who knows exactly where he falls.
  10. You want his? First 2 seasons as a starter his average was 6.2 and 5.9 17 TDs 16 INTs then 11 TDs 15 Ints. He did have longs of 52 and 68 though. He finished his career with 7.6 and a 98 long! Sounds like he was able to air it out some but must have thrown even more dinks and dunks to average it back down early in his career.
  11. 6 games too late, but hopefully he can give our offense a pulse.
  12. Hopefully Corbett, Woods, and Bell. I know it's a longshot, but we could really use Horn as well.
  13. If Brown is as talented as advertised he should make this look instantly better. I mean the bar is pretty damn low…
  14. I’m amazed at Stroud’s transition to the NFL, disappointed we didn’t draft him, but still see potential in Young. Should we have traded what we did for Young? Probably not, but we can hopefully walk away from this with a good QB for many years to come.
  15. @Varking wanted Stroud, but he has been pretty optimistic about Young. I mean what do you want him to do shun the player we should have drafted?
  16. Best news I’ve read all day. We might win this Houston game. Let’s hope some players get healthy too.
  17. Texans tried to trade up to draft him. We outbid them.
  18. I think the point is sometimes offenses not calling for deep passes doesn't always mean the QB can't throw it deep. Mahomes would be the case and point. Young is getting hammered behind our OL and people are wondering why he doesn't throw it deep. My guess would be pressure/time to set up the big throw? Mahomes has had some issues with his OL plus weapons not names Kelce this year as well. I think our OL playing in the wrong scheme is the biggest issue with our offense. The no huddle quick offense marched down the field twice and scored against a solid team at home. Then we slow it down and watch our undersized QB get hit/pressured constantly. It's very frustrating to watch as I am see most of us already know....
  19. I agree. They keep trying to do a quick fix and unfortunately there isn't one. Trading away picks and turning down great offers for players when our roster is no one near ready has shown to be very short sighted. The latest is throwing a rookie QB out there and seeing if he can save this offense that's stripped away of most of it's talent.
  20. QBs that can make plays strictly with their legs can make due with subpar talent around them, but that is very temporary. Cam short career, Vick couldn't stay healthy, Lamar has had an injury bug lately so they are trying to surround him with better talent which is the right thing to do. Brady and Rogers typically had elite OLs and when they didn't they struggled (relatively speaking). Rodgers started getting banged up with his OL got injured and of course this year without an elite group of blockers. Rodgers also had Adams for a while and Brady had Gronk (later part of his career), Brady's Tampa team was pretty loaded and Rodgers was trying to do the same with that Jets team. They realize they need the talent around them to really make a run. Mahomes could be another one outside of Kelce he hasn't been working with much since Hill left. Maybe we just need an elite TE for Young? Gronk for Brady, Andrews for Lamar, Olsen for Cam, Kelce for Mahomes, Kittle for Purdy seem to go a long way. I agree with your last paragraph 100%.
  21. So which QBs don't need elite weapons? Tua, Burrow, Purdy, and Hurts have the best cast around them plus some great coaching. Stroud is making it work with below average weapons, but a lot of the great ones have elite talent around them. Outside of AT (who is a 2 or 3 on most teams) we have below average weapons and an OL that is playing terrible. I want to see Young with a solid OL and actual average weapons with solid coaching. A rookie with a bad OL, below average weapons, and a below average HC isn't going to look very good a majority of the time IMO.
  22. I do know his first year starting at Alabama he was pretty bad at deep throws, but halfway through the season he got much better. I'm not sure if it just takes him longer to get the timing down since he doesn't have a cannon arm or what the issue is. Whatever it is, he and our staff need to figure it out.
