Would you trade 9 for Fields - straight up?
ForJimmy replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the safest approach is to wait and see. If it's Levis and Young going 1 and 2 then we can look at trading up to 3 with AZ which should be less of a haul and so on depending if Stroud drops. For example say we won't give up more than next year's first plus our 9 and maybe some mids to move up for him. -

Yeah the good new is we have a staff that might actually be capable of developing a project QB like AR. AR getting drafted by our previous coach would be a disaster, but we our new crew it has some potential... -

Stroud is the safest pick that could be anywhere from a Goff to a Burrow IMO. If you are gambling on just potential like a Josh Allen pick you take AR. I think Stroud should be priority one and if we can't trade up to acquire him without giving up too much AR at 9 should be the backup plan. Getting a big TE in the 2nd and/or FA to help either of them develop should be a high priority as well. -

They have pretty much said the first pick is for sale? https://theathletic.com/4077433/2023/01/10/bears-justin-fields-ryan-poles-nfl-draft/?amp=1 -
How do you rank these QB’s that are 26 or younger

He included Ridder and Huntley that weren’t even options. Such an “edgy” poster… -
I wasn't too impressed with Steichen's play calling

This is all true and he definitely deserves credit, but they also have a loaded roster. It really helps having a QB on a rookie deal. -
Good Article on potential OC target Brian Johnson

Bieniemy calls the plays that Reid tells him to through his headset. He also said Bieniemy "calls plays." Maybe he calls some and Reid steps in when needed? It's definitely a very strange dynamic... -
Has anyone looked at our Cap situation for 2023?

I try not to look at it. If I ignore it, I hope it will disappear... -

So Hurts has developed into a great QB. We need his QB coach! Reich is going to be calling the plays. -
We absolutely need to sign a FA TE or draft one pretty early. I wonder what are the financial consequences of cutting Thomas?
-
I mean they were a below 500 team. So I would say they were below average. It was a down year for Brady which is probably why he retired.
-
It’s more of him cursing out the refs because he wanted a call or didn’t like a call. Regardless he stops play, runs to them, and gets in their faces. Back then most players weren’t allowed to do that…
-
People are quick to forget MJ was one of the ones who started whining to refs about calls. I remember listening to former players like Magic and Larry saying MJ had his on set of rules from the NBA on what’s a foul.
-
Which bandwagon? Strong was your original? You knew he had an injured knee when you were hyping him up.
-
Then call it all game long and not just on 3rd and long in the final two minutes. CBs get handsy on most plays with WRs and there can be brief grabbing but it really didn’t affect his route. Both contacts were minimal.
-
His knee caused him to not be drafted at all? Not even a 7th rounder? Is his knee still currently injured?
-
It’s literally something that happens on every play. Greg Olsen is pretty neutral/fair and he was pretty disappointed in the call. The jersey wasn’t pulled and it wasn’t 5 yards past the LOS for contact. They could also call holding on most plays but if players are quick to release the hold they usually let it go. It was a “nitpicking” call so to speak. At the end of the day Reid and Mahomes simply had their way with the Eagles in the second half, so they can’t really blame one play for the outcome.
-
You liked Carson Strong the best last year. Kept talking about his size and completion percentage. Compared him to Herbert.
-
Bad way to end a great game…
-
It can be both. Reid and Mahomes are a deadly combo. Mahomes wasn’t winning a bunch at Texas Tech and Reid never won a Super Bowl before Mahomes.

This is a great game!
