  1. Fair. Looks like Sewell is our consensus pick, not even a debate. It’s debatable if he will drop that low or if Dolphins or Bengals snag him before us.
  2. Pitts would be so tempting because he is a generational player, but agree Sewell is our biggest need
  3. Who do you want and why? Sewell - best left tackle Pitts - arguably the best player available regardless of need Surtain - best CB in the draft
  4. New coach + new GM + new QB = cautious optimism. I also only started the clock on Tepper when he hired Rhule. Two years prior was just a learning curve and inherited a mess of an organization from top to bottom.
  5. As long as he’s not permanently damaged psychologically from being put into an impossible situation at a young age, I think Darnold has all the tools and leadership qualities.
  6. Apparently, an offer for Darnold came about a week before free agency. Apparently, there were multiple teams interested. “The Panthers were first in touch about Darnold in mid-February, after an offer of the eighth overall pick, a fifth-rounder and Teddy Bridgewater for Stafford fell short of what the Lions wound up getting from the Rams for their quarterback. And thereafter, because of strong relationships Douglas had with the Carolina brass, trust and communication between the teams kept the light for a Darnold trade on.” “The first thing you need to know about how the Jets arrived at the decision they did is that, in a normal year, they might’ve pulled the trigger a lot sooner than April 5. In fact, about a week before free agency, Douglas had a deal on the table that was good enough to move on. At that point, the first flash point for the Darnold market—the late January trade that sent Matthew Stafford from Detroit to L.A.—had generated interest from eight teams (Carolina was among the eight), and one had emerged with an offer that was at least in the ballpark of what the Jets were looking for. The problem was, at that point, the Jets just weren’t there yet on the crew of quarterbacks who’d be available to them at No. 2. Sure, they’d done a lot of work by then. But in a normal year, at that early March juncture, they’d have already seen the guys throw at the combine and maybe a private workout or all-star game, interviewed them in person in Indy and collected all of their medical information. And those, in 2021, were boxes still unchecked.” “It was a strong offer,” Douglas says. “We told them, Look, there’s still a lot of boxes left to check. And we just don’t feel comfortable, in case something happens with one of the top two guys, we don’t want to get caught in a bad situation, like one of two guys fails a physical and then we don’t have Sam. So we didn’t do anything.” https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/04/08/inside-story-of-why-jets-traded-darnold-new-qb-search
  7. you have no right to be upset about the Darnold trade. It was our only option left after SF traded for #3 pick. Top 4 QBs are going off the board 1, 2, 3, 4..
  8. I think a trade back is possible on draft day if a QB falls to 8 and another team is desperate to get him.
  9. Colin Cowherd (@ColinCowherd) Tweeted: Sam Darnold to ⁦@Panthers⁩ https://t.co/tjWOz1mQae
  10. Louis Riddick (@LRiddickESPN) Tweeted: Watching Matt Rhule actually communicate, teach ...COACH...at the Senior Bowl practices up close on the field was exactly what I needed so that now I can understand what Sam Darnold is going to be exposed to in Carolina. And it is good. Real good.
  11. I saw the news they plan to exercise the option, not that they have already done it. Patience
  12. Also PFF PFF Fantasy Football (@PFF_Fantasy) Tweeted: PFF grade with Adam Gase ('19-'20) Sam Darnold - 58.8 (39th) ('16-'18) Ryan Tannehill - 59.7 (41st) https://t.co/iRaMvKlFO5
  13. You think their starting offer was a second rounder?
  14. 1. Scott Fitterer pushed for this trade and convinced Brady and Rhule. He said multiple times how much he liked him coming out of USC and that he still thinks he has all the skills to be the QB of the future. He owns this decision , for better or worse, and I like that in a GM 2. Brady’s offense played a huge role. He kept talking about how Sam can get the ball down the field in this offense. 3. Although he is taking a risk, it’s very calculated. It gives him an option to take the BPA at #8 even if that player is a QB. If Darnol doesn’t work out, losing the second rounder next year will hurt buy won’t cripple the franchise. Trading up multiple firsts to grab a rookie is a much higher risk for the franchise if they bust. 4.. Bridgewater is done at Carolina. He will either restructure his contract and stay and/or get traded to another team. 5. My favorite insight was hearing how Tepper doesn’t evaluate players but makes sure that Rhule and Fitterer have a solid decision making process for “why” a player is traded for, drafted, signed, cut. Etc. This is exactly Tepper’s strength in why he has been a successful businessman.
  15. Details incoming “The New York Jets are trading QB Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers for a 2021 sixth-round pick and 2022 second- and fourth-round picks, sources tell Adam Schefter.”
  16. If Bellichick did this, everyone would be talking about how he thinks outside of the box.
  17. This one did it for me, he has some issues Much of Jane Doe 15’s allegations are similar to those by other women, each of whom Watson hired to provide massages. In May of 2020, she said Watson contacted her via Instagram seeking a massage that would focus on his “‘groin area’, his ‘glutes’ and his ‘lower abdominals.’ ” Doe 15 was surprised that a famous NFL quarterback sought her out. She alleged that she informed him that she was a licensed personal trainer, not a massage therapist. She could help with post-workout muscle therapy, but “massages were not her specialty.” Watson was undeterred and scheduled her to come to his house on May 28, according to the lawsuit. She arrived and Watson led her to the theater room, where she set up before Watson returned wearing just a towel. Doe 15 alleged in her lawsuit that when Watson “eventually flipped over onto his back, the towel fell off [and] … Watson was completely naked and exposed his penis to the Plaintiff. Watson also moved his penis onto Plaintiff’s hand. Watson had pre-ejaculate leaking out of his penis, which got onto Plaintiff’s hand. Plaintiff felt like she wanted to vomit.” Doe 15 said she was confused and upset and chose to end the massage session. She stated she left soon after. Watson’s actions are a potential violation of 22.012 of the Texas penal code — indecent assault — which is punishable for up to one year in prison or a fine of $4,000. “If what happened is as it’s described in the lawsuit, then it is absolutely indecent assault,” Mordock said. Watson could face more serious felony sexual assault charges based on the allegations by Jane Doe No. 3 and No. 9 concerning forced oral sex, however those civil lawsuits do not indicate a level of contemporaneous reporting that Jane Doe 15 does. “When Plaintiff got home that day,” the lawsuit reads, “Plaintiff immediately called her mom and her best friend to tell them what happened and said she was traumatized … Plaintiff also received a text message from Watson that same day asking her if she was OK. Plaintiff did not respond. For weeks afterwards, Watson repeatedly contacted Plaintiff asking if he could book her again. Plaintiff either ignored the requests or said she was too busy.” The fact that Doe 15 alleges to have told two people — her mother and her best friend — that very day about what allegedly happened could provide significant credibility to her claim. Her story is on the record. Both individuals could be called to testify in either a criminal or civil claim. “That is a contemporaneous report,” Mordock said. “It is the key to these cases. It signals that the alleged victim in the matter knew that it was severe enough that she had to tell someone right away. They knew something was wrong right away. “Then you have him following up asking if she is OK?” Mordock continued. “That is not a particularly good fact for Watson. And then she refuses to engage with him.” https://sports.yahoo.com/the-lawsuit-that-is-most-problematic-for-deshaun-watson-014827728.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAALqt1RRSGjigkcYImqAVjgrxVotZp77Uw5Gzuga9kNPlk6wWkT8WlbxLDjD90Wp6H2M35aZfX8PdewPsm0yH3MaHLSiOSBIJx6zHZyZMpxLkobz-FpBcT47WobIWPqEeuITyDNeumYManL41B088bMmFjMFXgBBqFZrtqJjdq6m5
  18. I prefer trading up to 5, giving up fewer picks and ensuring we get one of the top 4 QBs, hopefully Lance
