  1. quick turnarounds absolutely do happen in the NFL. This team has to draft better. Significantly better. I would suggest we need a draft year on par to Morgan-Jenkins-Smith. Maybe even a couple of those consecutively.
  2. Tepper can always just put on a Falcons 7 jersey and slide on by for whatever he wants.
  3. If he doesn't stay in Tampa, going back home to Texas seems to be the speculative choice. Maybe Houston?
  4. Joebucsfan is calling it a done deal.. https://www.joebucsfan.com/2024/01/dave-canales-is-the-new-panthers-head-coach/ Also, they speculate that it means Evans will be departing as well, not necessarily here https://www.joebucsfan.com/2024/01/chances-that-baker-mayfield-mike-evans-return-just-dropped/
  5. Numbers don't tell the whole story. They also had position changes and new faces on OL, a QB we jettisoned mid-season, no running game to speak of, a head coach on the hot seat, and yet they won the division for 3rd straight time, and got a playoff victory. Most folks had them picked to finish last in the NFC South.
  6. It's not as if we have any sayso on the choice. Hope he's better than the last few. Can't be much worse, so there's something positive. Maybe we bring Wilson back to NC.
  7. Yeah. All very true. There are reasons beyond the win-loss record why they hired a strict authoritarian coach to follow. There are reasons why he hasn't gotten another head coach job, other than a brief interim stint. He has probably had lots of personal growth though.
  8. There is nothing to let go. Of course people can and do change. I wonder what the reason could be that no one has given him another shot at the head job in 14 years. So curious why another team hasn't let it go? Just a run of bad timing probably.
  9. Morris was pretty bad in Tampa in a number of ways. Bad enough they went out and hired Schiano to replace him. I know he might have been too young, or whatever, inexperienced, but he was bad. No thanks. We already suck.
  10. There's been some talk lately that the college game has changed to the point that pro-ready linemen are not being produced as often anymore. There might be some truth to it, especially at the tackle position.
  11. Now you're just being foolish. We didn't even know what bbq was until Tepper brought it here.
  12. Picking up interior OL through free agency would be possible. There are a good many names on the list. LT is pretty scarce, and there are some players listed as RT that have played both, with mixed results. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/offensive-line/all/
  13. How bout them Cowboys! https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/dak-prescotts-contract-guarantees-hell-be-with-cowboys-for-multiple-more-years
  14. Absolutely. It might be more of an organizational thing though, since they've had 3 coaches in the last 50 odd years. We can't even find 1 worth having around for more than a dozen games now.
  15. To your point, how long now have the Ravens had that identity? 2+ decades? It sure would be nice to be able to develop and maintain a culture and an enduring identity for more than a season or 2 at a time.
  16. Sure seems like midnight is right around the corner for the Texans.
  17. I don't want to see any past greats be dragged down by the death spiral of poo this franchise is currently under. I'm just fine with past players that want to come back and contribute in some way in a front office capacity, but let's find out what Captain Munnerlyn and etc are doing right now instead.
  18. That era has been over for decades now. I do still have that Superbowl issue tucked away somewhere with Moose on the cover and the headline that "Carolina is for real." That era has also been over for decades.
  19. That is reasonable, but I don't think we go qb at 33. I have no idea what the pick would be, but qb would be a surprise. Rattler would probably be available later in the draft. With some of the qb needy teams ahead of us, I'm not so sure about Penix or Nix being there later. Atlanta should be a taking a qb in the 1st.
  20. I agree, but I also don't think bringing in a Mariotta, or similar level player, is really going to do much long term. Maybe the best case scenario is it creates a sturdy and plausible reason to bench Young after the bye or whatever, and that would mark the end of his era here. I'm not overly optimistic on a turnaround plan, but that's mostly because I think Young is an example of a good college player that just doesn't translate to the NFL.
  21. It's all just talk and opinion though at this point. None of it matters now, and it can't be undone. Would Young perform better if CMC and DJ were still on the team? Probably. Maybe. They were shipped out to get him though. All that really matters at this point is if the next regime can get things turned around, and Young on the right track. Next season will be the test of that, and if the results are largely the same, or worst, the team will move on from him.
  22. Yeah I'm torn on this 1. Seeing the Bucs lose is always a positive. I think the Lions have a better shot of beating them though. I wanted a misfit Superbowl and the Browns have already been sent home.
  23. I question why Julio Jones is still playing. He's so done. Unless of course he could play against us every week of the season. He'd be rejuvenated then.
  24. Except they haven't stopped anyone for a month now. Tampa has a shot with those 2 wrs.
