  1. With our vaccinated rate being one of the best in the league I read articles like this today with the WFT having less than HALF and I wonder…what’s the difference? Is it how the players react to the message from coaches? Buy in from ownership? Players bonding together against it? Seems crazy to me that players would put so much at risk by not getting a shot that proves it will save lives. Check out the article below…I found it very interesting compared to our results: Washington coach Ron Rivera has attempted this offseason to educate his players about vaccinations, but the message hasn’t gotten through to many of them. And Rivera isn’t happy about it. Rivera, who battled cancer last year and has taken extra precautions to avoid getting infected with COVID-19, said it bothers him that almost half of his players still haven’t gotten the vaccine. “I’m truly frustrated. I’m beyond frustrated. Part of the reason I walk in with a mask on is I’m immune-deficient,” Rivera said, via Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post. “I just hope that our guys can understand that.” Rivera is right to be frustrated. The COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective and are the only way out of the pandemic that has ruled our lives for nearly a year and a half. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/07/27/ron-rivera-beyond-frustrated-that-so-many-washington-players-remain-unvaccinated/
  2. Some key FA are still available….
  3. Very fluid meaning LT and LG is up In the air. We know RT, RG, C is locked In. If Moton moves to the left then it would be even more interesting with the combinations of people fighting for the RT role, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we add another tackle by the start of the season or by trade.
  4. We all hope he develops into what we all know what he can be, however he is a total unknown up to this point. Last year was underwhelming but it was a rookie year….
  5. I’m satisfied with the way our team is being built currently. We knew before last season started that we were 2-3 years away from being a team who could compete and so far we are a little ahead of schedule based off our draft hits and after we seen what our coaches are capable of. We are set up extremely well with cap space all the way around, have little dead cap after this season, and will be entering prime position to be able to lock up our young talent coming up on second contracts (Burns, Moore, etc). I’d love to have Watson but with that baggage and giving away players and the next two drafts plus all our cap space, it does not seem like it’s worth it.
  6. You are totally missing the point. I am and will always be a Cam fan. No question he is the best thing this franchise has ever had at QB. Im comparing the difference in excuses between some of the same posters who defended Cam last year and his performance due to a lack of weapons, but claim Darnold is trash even though he had literally everything working against him (All time terrible coach, horrendous play calling, one of the worst lines in the league 30th ranked, and no weapons). I know what Cam has accomplished in his career and am not comparing who has had the overall better NFL pedigree. I’m talking about the coaching staff taking a chance on a low risk high reward 24 year old kid who was in a bad situation.
  7. It’s a 22 million cap hit over 2 years for a starting QB…..It’s not going to kill us if it does not work out. Our coaching staff has already shown the ability outperform expectations and I’m willing to let them try on Darnold. Our staff has also shown that they aren’t afraid to move on if it does not work out so again it’s a low risk high reward scenario.
  8. I was referring to the headline stat about red zone and a clean pocket being Darnold. He has zero talent around him on top of terrible play calling, and a terrible line.
  9. It’s funny how some people point to stats like this….let’s forget the fact that he was destroyed every other play, but do you not think that the talent around him factors in to his red zone and “clean pocket” stats? If he has little talent at WR that does not gets separation along with terrible play calls what do you think the results will be? Some defended Cam to the death last year because of a lack of talent around him (cough cough) but will point at stats like this as to why our QB is trash. Darnold has the ability to turn things around here. He’s 24 and we have seen QBs have a complete turnaround with life after Gase. If he does not work out, it’s not like we are tied down for 5 years and will be crippled with guaranteed money. It’s a low risk high reward move we have made and I’m not sure what is so had to understand about that
  10. After DaQuan Jones….I knew he wasn’t coming back. I’d rather take Jones 10/10 times over Short at this point
  11. Good to hear so many of the teams young leader speaking up for Darnold and to hear that he has that “Dog Mentality”
  12. The Panthers’ quest to find a franchise quarterback led them to acquire Sam Darnoldin the spring. The No. 3 pick of the 2018 draft, Darnold didn’t have much success with the Jets. But he’s drawn some positive reviews from teammates for his performance during the offseason program with Carolina. During a Wednesday appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, defensive end Brian Burns said he was happy when he heard the Panthers had picked up the young QB. “When I met him, he’s a cool dude, down to earth, nice guy,” Burns said. “Watching him through OTAs, I can tell he has that dog mentality. It takes a little bit — he’s got to get comfortable with the team. He just got there. I can already tell he’s going to be a great addition to the group and a great leader for the offense.” The Panthers picked up Darnold’s fifth-year option, so his $18.858 million salary is on the books for the 2022 season. But if Darnold doesn’t display enough potential to be the team’s long-term solution at QB, Carolina is likely to be back in the market next offseason. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/07/14/brian-burns-sam-darnold-is-going-to-be-a-great-leader-for-the-offense/
  13. Good post….but why is it I post an article about Cam Newton saying his shoulder bothered him since 2016 when he was injured with the Panthers and it gets moved out of this forum, but this post stays?
  14. It is comical how much the rules have changed to protect a QB during Cams short career. It seems like decades ago that they were head hunting Cam compared to today’s rules.
  15. Agreed. We all knew it wasn’t right after it happened. I don’t know that I believe he’s 100 percent now either . I wish it never happened because he would still be our franchise QB
  16. What could have been…… Patriots quarterback Cam Newton says an injury to his throwing shoulder that he suffered in 2016 took years to heal and changed the way he played. Newton posted a video on YouTube todaythat he filmed in September of 2020 in which he says he was just beginning to feel like his old self again for the first time in years. “Last time I’ve been healthy?” Newton said. “Honest, 2016.” Newton injured his throwing shoulder in December of 2016 trying to make a tackle after he threw an interception. “I threw an interception,” Newton said. “I tried to go make the tackle, and I tried to push him out, and I extended my arm, and I messed up my AC joint. And ever since then, there’s just been a part of me that’s just been a wounded dog. Like a wounded lion almost. Just, ‘I’m not right.’ I feel good at times, but when I’m running I still feel it. So instead of running them over, I’m going to turn this shoulder and just go down.” It’s unclear why Newton posted the video to YouTube today when he made the comments 10 months ago, but he titled his YouTube video, “What REALLY Happened To My Shoulder,” which suggests he thinks people don’t realize the full story of his shoulder injury. He did indicate, however, that the shoulder fully healed in time for the 2020 season. And that he’s posting the video today suggests he thinks he’s good to go for 2021. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/07/09/cam-newton-says-2016-shoulder-injury-affected-him-for-years/
  17. At 5.1 million dollars. I’m a huge Cam fan and always will be but he will be on another team next year and may have a hard time finding a starting role if he does not show out this year.
  18. The declassified documents that the CIA released about UFO’s. It needs to be talked about.
  19. While here, Brown will work closely with Kate Callaway, the team's director of performance nutrition. Rhule called Callaway "one of the stars of this place," and she's already been in contact with her counterparts with Alabama to come up with a plan for Brown. "I know Kate will do what it takes to help him," Rhule said. "She's really special." Rhule said the team would also lean on the sports science department to put all the players who arrived this weekend through a series of body mass and movement and strength tests to help determine an ideal weight. After they make that calculation, the hope is they can tap into Brown's natural power to help stabilize a line that has needed an overhaul after last season. What they don't know yet is how all the parts fit together. Brown played left guard at Alabama last year, starting all 13 games and earning All-SEC honors. "I believe I have the athletic ability to be able to (compete for a starting job)," Brown said. "I believe I can play anywhere, it's just about opportunity."
  20. From the article at Panthers.com: While rookie minicamp is mostly an introduction, what Brown showed the Panthers in the pre-draft process is that he's a large and strong man, whose mass makes him a different kind of player than many of their existing options. Keeping that mass at a manageable level has always been one of the questions with Brown, who vowed on draft weekend it wouldn't be a problem. The 6-3 1/4 Brown weighed in at the Senior Bowl in January at 364 pounds. He said his initial weigh-in here Thursday was at 347. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said he wants to keep a realistic goal about Brown's target weight, knowing that his frame is not conducive to being too lean. "I don't think he's ever going to be a 310-pound guy," Rhule said. "That's just not who he is. He's a big, powerful man. . . . "I would love it if he was in the, ... most guys wish he'd be in the 330s, but he might be a 340-pound guy."
