  1. I think they are doing this in an attempt to get Watson or someone else. If available we have it, if not and we don’t use it we can always roll it over. It’s a low risk move that will help If we are able to get who we want
  2. The Panthers have cut several players this month, creating some cap space that they’d love to spend on Deshaun Watson. Carolina’s moves in the last week have cleared nearly $20 million in cap space, which would be enough to absorb Watson’s 2021 cap hit, and the Panthers plan to make a run at Watson if the Texans make him available in a trade, David Newton of ESPN reports. (That is an actual report, although ESPN has given it less attention than the “bold prediction” that the Panthers’ offer would be Christian McCaffrey and three first-round draft picks.) The phrasing of the report — the Panthers will make a run at Watson if the Texans make him available — is almost identical to a previous report that the Broncos will make an offer for Watson if the Texans make him available. That suggests that multiple teams are waiting around for the Texans to say Watson is on the trading block, and then they’ll pull the trigger on a big offer when and if the Texans give them the go-ahead. But if you want Watson and think you can make a credible offer for him, why wait? Why not call the Texans now and let them know you’re willing to part with a significant number of draft picks and/or players to get Watson? The worst the Texans can tell you is no. In a best-case scenario, it may begin the process of your team acquiring one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Watson wants to be traded, and the Texans are saying publicly that they won’t trade him. But there’s likely some trade package good enough that the Texans would make the move. Teams like the Broncos and Panthers appear ready to make those offers. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/
  3. We could always roll it over if not used, but I hope we use it and give Teddy a real reason to unfollow our Twitter account
  4. I wouldn’t mind a one or two year extension for him. I also wouldn’t mind letting him walk after this year so either way it’s fine. We seem to be aggressively eating dead cap last year and this year with kk so this does not hurt that bad. Between Boston and this we are sitting at around 6.6 dead cap next season for both.
  5. No way it would happen in any parallel universe possible.
  6. Who can’t wait for next season when Teddys starting for us! (Sarcasm)
  7. Does he ever post on Facebook? I see pics of every team he has played for except the Panthers posted. Profile pic is still him in a Saints uniform
  8. He must be upset once he realized he only going to get 40 million dollars total from the Panthers instead of the 60 million he planned, and that he may have to actually compete for a starting role rather than have it handed to him.
  9. We are sitting at $35,231,683 cap currently. Idk if releasing Paradis is going to happen. We already have to fill three starting roles on the line this offseason, and that’s with the assumption we tag Moton. That may be asking a lot compared to the savings you would get from cutting him. He already has a year in our offense, and that is an incredibly important role.
  10. Cutting Palardy and Weatherly, Combined with this week's release of veteran defensive tackle Kawann Short, the Panthers have carved around $16.4 million worth of space off the cap. This total does NOT include the savings from Boston who will likely be a post June 1st cut saving and additional $3,550,000 this year and $4,990,000 next year with dead cap of $2,666,666 this season as well as next season. Total for all the cuts: $19,950,000 saved.
  11. Can you imagine if Herbert fell to us last year.... Jesus take the wheel.
  12. Same years here for 25 years, but finding a franchise QB excites me. We’ve really only had one, which changed our franchise completely until health ended it. We have one other example in our history so it’s about time we put forth an aggressive effort. That’s one of the reasons we haven’t had back to back winning seasons in our 25 years...look at the QB’s. Other than Cam Newton the best QB play we have had is....Jake Delhomme.
  13. We were talking about the young QB prospects originally. I get that you are negative about any decisions we make or could make in the future, but this rant is just off topic. Yeah nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, we could have a horrible owner, our coach could suck, our gm could be fired in a year, but what does that have to do with finding a franchise QB. In order to get one, you have to take risk, and until we do, we won’t win.
  14. I know what you are attempting with this comparison but it’s just a bad one (and an old one...dudes 50 years old now). We are not winning anything without a franchise QB, and it’s the one position you have to take risk at. If your not drafting top 3 you have to take risk to get your guy in the draft, pray he falls to you, or take other risk by trading picks and paying big money for a QB from another team (which brings its own risk)because they are making much more than someone on a rookie deal, and possibly limiting cap to build your team. You are going to have a risk any way you Look at it if you are looking for a franchise QB.
  15. When have you seen the Panthers “shoot their shot” recently on a franchise QB?
  16. So update: With Weather cut and including dead cap (SMH my bad on that terrible mistake) we will be sitting around 22-24 million
  17. Next low hanging fruit is Stephen Weatherly with a cap hit of $7,906,250. if cut he will carry 2 million flat in dead cap so we will save $5,906,250. This will bring our total cap space to: $44,353,839
  18. After cutting KK Short today we saved $8,603,250 in cap, and will eat $11,017,000 in dead cap this season. Total dead cap so far in 2021 is right at $20,172,807 thanks to a few players on the books including KK. Top 3 in dead cap for next season is below: Kawaan Short: $11,017,000 Luke Kuechly: $7,132,514 Graham Gano: $1,537,500 Total Cap spending currently before any more Cuts or Restructures: $141,552,411 The cap is rumored to be around 180 million which will leave us right at $38,447,589 in cap currently before any other moves are made. Next season we will be in wonderful shape with Cap, and should have a Teddy 2 gloves off the books as well other than his dead cap hit. 19. We all know it’s just fluff. Hell the Texans have come out multiple times and said he’s not being traded. With that being said I would definitely do the deal if it were available
  20. I guess my bigger point was that even with him starting, I don’t see us winning that game based on how horrible the entire Washington football team played that day including 4.1 QBR Haskins
  21. Dude....Haskins had a QBR in that game of 4.1 We were not winning that game with his performance, the terrible special teams play that they had, and Ron Rivera being Ron Rivera. No blatant attempt to tank would change that and it’s pointless to keep complaining about it.
