I got a couple of guys in mind for the draft, but Chuba was the best back in a bad RB stable. Being the tallest midget isn't exactly awe inspiring. Hubbard has improved, but again, he's not a bell cow RB. He's a solid #2. Sanders should just become the 3rd down back.
-
Good thing he had a impressive 40 time.
-
Scouting reports generally stated Young had a 'good enough' arm. Nowhere did I see an elite arm mentioned for him. He was praised for his attributes between his ears endlessly. Arm talent, not so much.
-
We have to get a new RB then. Chuba, while much improved, is NOT a bell cow back.
-
I really, really like this 'outside the box' mock.
-
Take? Sure, but are they the best value? Coleman possibly. At this rate I'd rather trade down some and get some bonus picks. Leggette should be there several picks later. One thing I did agree with Fitterer on is his philosophy on immediate impact players only being in that first 15-20 picks. So #33 or lets say #37 in a trade down, you are getting the caliber of guy.
-
If we are going to force a WR at #33, we very well could be looking at WR7 or WR8. Screw Fitterer and David Tepper. So disappointing to know where we could be this draft and the crumbs we actually have. I know, you 'make lemonade out of lemons' and hopefully Dan Morgan can. As a guy who usually enjoys the draft process, last draft and this one has absolutely sucked for me.

Don't get caught up in the NFL size, he's not been a consistent producer in his college career. That's the very reason I wasn't very high on Mingo. While Mingo had the better career than Legette, he still didn't put up the numbers that I would expect for a #1 guy in college in a pass happy offense.

Lol, get out of my head dude. Ok, ok, what am I thinking now?

How we deal with Burns will be nearly as impactful to the future of this this team as Young panning out or not. I'm dead serious. Tag and trade is my stance currently, but man would those two first rounders from the Rams have been nice about right now.
-
Yup, this is where I'm at for now. The best players left at #33 are QBs when I do my mock drafts nearly every time. I know we aren't taking one, as we should, so might as well take advantage of it. Move back and get some more draft capital. No further back than the early 40's, so not beyond 10 picks. In most years #33 isn't bad, but it's no man's land this year as far as I'm concerned. If we stay, I have a feeling we will reach.
-
Fitterer was a year early and I think deep down he knew it. Was this internal pressure to get the future QB or was it someone inside the building? I think it was a combination of both, but mainly from his boss. Could you imagine being in the position to take an early QB this year? I can, because I wanted to. Yes, I have beaten that horse into homemade glue because it has been VERY hard to let go.
-
In the NFL QBs have to be able to make all the throws. Bryce is limited where he can throw the ball. That limitation is due to arm strength. I looked at his passing chart just about every game and his outside the numbers attempts beyond 10 yards, certainly 15, were virtually nonexistent. The few he tried were HIGHLY unsuccessful. Bryce knows his floaters to the outside are prime for picking and why he stays away from them.

I agree, wait until day 3, but you don't shy away form upgrades because of other guys contracts.

Rumor of Burns traded to Baltimore (probably baseless rumor)

Why carolina can not* afford to lose Burns
45catfan replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly what I've been saying. If this were Aaron Donald in his mid-twenties, you pay the man, but Burns is one-dimensional. He's nonexistent in the run game, a liability even. Even his pass rush success is streaky as heck. He'll have a multi-sack game once or twice in a typical season, but has several games where he has little to no impact. That's not a guy you break the bank re-signing. -
Any idea of what Young is doing in the offseason to improve?
45catfan replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
You should have shown this data to Fitterer last year before he signed Sanders. Also Shipley is being projected to go 3rd round, that's where I got the 3rd round from. -
I like Franklin or Polk at #33. We may double dip at WR, but with only six picks, I doubt it.
-
So we are just missing a TEs coach on the offensive side of the ball now? I'm taking it the entire defensive side is being retained?

I don't think we take a RB in round 3. If he's there in round 4, maybe. We've got bigger fish to fry with our first two picks. I am actually wanting a between the tackles guy like Estime and Allen. A WR and defensive help is what our 2nd and 3rd round picks will ultimately be. Once again we are screwed because of poor FA signings and crappy draft deals & picks. -

Yes we can. What we can't afford to do is pay him the contract that he wants. -
Tony Pauline: Campen was Tepper's "eyes and ears"
45catfan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm pretty sure it went pretty close to this. I doubt it was from the rip, but once Frank knew Bryce was not cut from NFL cloth, he checked out. It was only a matter of a few games if i were to guess. Dude was a QB and worked nearly exclusively with QBs; it wouldn't take him long to figure out if Bryce was NFL caliber or not once the games started. -
Doubling down on Young. I don't like it. We NEED Young insurance.

Will Canales fix his height, frame, weight and mechanics? FYI, his bad mechanics are a direct function of his hieght....'Mr. bouncy toes." -
Chris Collinsworth come to mind. His voice annoys the crap out of me and he's fugging goofy. I would rather watch a game on mute before having to listen to him.
