  1. What a game. Great effort by Fields.
  2. Seemed questionable to burn the last timeout to ice the kicker. there's still 26 seconds left.
  3. He's raw, but he's got one thing Darnold doesn't have. Potential.
  4. I agree nobody could be successful with the way Darnold is playing. A huge part of this style of offense is hitting receivers on 10-20 yard patterns. Darnold can't read the field, so he can't complete anything other than a check down route. Whether it's a short hitch by DJ or a back coming out of the backfield. He can't seem to find anyone else on any other route. The only other pass he throws is a prayer downfield, regardless of the coverage. He's very inaccurate down the field as well. It's incredibly difficult to tell if the offensive scheme is any good, because Darnold isn't capable of running it. Even though Teddy wasn't elevated to stardom, he put up some of the best numbers of his career in the same system. We had red zone problems, but we didn't have a problem moving the ball. That said, I've lost faith in Matt Rhule and I think we need to clean house.
  5. Yep and if you rewind that further, it would have been better to roll with Cam, Kyle Allen, or Taylor Heineke (or even Will f'n Grier) than signing Teddy to a 60 million dollar contract. Certainly wouldn't have to pay that much to win 5 games. Any of those guys could have done that. This has been one error compounding after another. And I'm almost certain they're about to compound it again with another one to replace Darnold.
  6. i think we're still on the hook for a large portion of that even with a trade. Perhaps all of it. It depends on how the 5th year option is structured. I'm guessing its guaranteed.
  7. Nope. I'm going to disagree with this. Jerry wanting his kids to be involved ran Bill Polian out of the organization after 96. He went on to build a very competent team with the Colts.
  8. To be fair they have game 5 of the World Series in town tonight. Would you really go to the Falcons game instead of that?
  9. If anything, Sam would be a decent backup.
  10. We ran a R2P2 offense today if I've ever seen one.
  11. Probably because context is a thing. Brady is the best to ever play QB. Sam has never proven anything.
  12. Exactly. Darnold ain't it and even our coaching staff recognizes that now. We've had Teddy Bridgewater, Kyle Allen, Taylor Heineke, and Cam Newton on our roster under Rhule. Not that any of those guys were the long term answer, but I'm not sure Darnold is better than any of them. PJ being our only backup is pretty bad as well. Very concerning that we cannot seem to evaluate QBs.
  13. How could you watch this game and conclude that a top tier RB is worth it? I'm watching a 10-10 game between two teams that desperately need better QB play.
  14. Give some credit to Joe Burrow for turning his own career around. Hindsight is 50/50, but it looks like Burrow had a lot more to do with LSU's success than Brady. Dude is a legit QB at the NFL level, while none of our QBs have improved at all.
  15. Rhule said we would focus on the run game and Brady called 17 run plays.
  16. Only because away team fans help fill up the stadium. it doesn't matter from a tickets sold perspective, but the Chargers don't have much of a home advantage.
  17. I'm just not sold on our staff, and I don't see how bringing him in helps anything in the immediate term. This smells like a panic move to save a season (and perhaps coaching staff) that can't be saved.
  18. He was on the last year of a contract in a clear tank season. He thought he was a lame duck coach, and he was right. I agree with everything else though. Fox got the Panthers into the Super Bowl in 2 seasons, but I think the league passed him by. He wasn't nearly as good later on with Denver.
  19. I thought we needed a new OC, QB and O-Line before today. I think we need a whole new staff after today.
  20. We were a bit outmatched but I'm proud of our guys. They stayed in the game despite it all. Glad we didn't get embarrassed. Hopefully they bounce back next week.
  21. Yes, just because we never had a DC that would send pressure other than the front 4. Not only that, but the stunts and things being called are genius. The 2003 team had to get pressure with a vanilla defense. Speaks volumes to their talent really.
  22. At this point I'd write it off as a toxic environment. He's following the path of basically every other high value defensive pick in the organizations recent history. Almost all of them were traded away and were/are stars for their new teams. We just didn't have to give up a 1st to get this guy, which is fantastic.
