top 5 on OUR defense he is....Horn, Chinn, Burns, Brown, Shaq, Luvu is our best pretty clearly....I guess you could put him 6th? Maybe Bell?
-
I haven't said anything to you man - you replied to the wrong post
-
Sadly with Horn and Shaq out that is an unfair statement - go take 2 of the top 5 defensive players off any team and you get the same result
-
There are MASSIVE factors that have hurts our offense - you are downplaying that man - we have a gaping hole on the blind side - we have at best a 3rd WR and no 1st or 2nd - AND we don't even try to throw downfield so the defense sits in 1 safety and blitzes. You could put Brady in our situation and I guarantee his numbers would be poor. Again Bryce is in the 2nd game of his career with one of the worst offensive situations possible yet his numbers look similar to Fields or Watson....he has been decent is all I am saying. I gave specific details how. Your prerogative if you can't see it
-
People also ignoring we have been without Horn the entire game - huge loss of our #1 CB which can make a difference with Chinn's usage
-
His play hasn't been bad - made a few mistakes sure - like most QB's. But overall he has been accurate, made the right reads, and been fairly mobile. He has played better than any QB we have had in years. But the play calling has been awful and obvious....his receivers are not getting open....the O-line especially Christianson and Ikey have been bad...Sanders has been meh and barely a receiving help. What should he have done with that different?
-
You aren't honestly putting our passing issues on Bryce's height or his play right? Ridiculous

I do not think the deals that were made is the main reason we need a season or 2 more to be a contender. This team was already a dozen or more players away from that since 2017 - with Luke retiring early, Cam flaming out, and the end of the Rivera era. Rhule certainly made it worse but Rivera had back to back losing seasons before he left. We needed a complete rebuild with little to no assets for Fitt to use. Fitt has only been here 2 seasons also - both the 2021 and 2022 drafts were very good Horn over Surtain isn't a mistake yet, just injury issues. Horn has been outstanding when on the field. Corral isn't turning into a starter yet, but his cost was great. I agree the Darnold deal was an overpay, but worth the risk when you had NO QB worth starting and no FA market. Personally I think Fitt has done great, I am happy to keep rolling with him.

This also ignores the 4 draft picks we acquired in the McCaffrey trade....not only did we use those picks to offset some of your trades above, but it will free up a great deal of cap space in the future - he will count $14M against their cap each of the next 2 years. Not necessarily disagreeing with your comments - but this is fair to add - it isn't quite as bad as the above implies.
-
Considering both had fewer than 10 drop backs this is hardly data worth comparing....no statistical significance. But Bryce looked better clearly
-
I'm not sleepin on him at all...I didn't mention him because to me he is a lock at our 2nd WR spot and will be very good....the other 3 are the question marks.
-
Oh - well.....I'm sure Bryce will just throw the receivers open.....we are good...
-
Not a big deal - this isn't the CMC offense anymore. He is here to run and block....catching 30 passes is a bonus
-
The man has been a clear WR1 when he is on the field - only question is health. If TMJ and Mingo are even just decent and Chark is healthy this offense is gonna be productive. People are sleepin on us waaaaaay too much.
-
Have to agree that watching film there is no question who the better guy is right now - Scoot clearly has the "IT" factor to be a superstar....the NBA is all about Superstars. Miller is the better fit, but that is a distant 2nd in priority....2 guard teams can absolutely dominate.
-
I hope you all are right - but I don't think there are enough throws going around for him. So let's try this. What do you predict for 2023 for these guys: Thielen - 67 REC, 820yds Chark - 45 REC, 660yds Hurst - 55 REC, 550yds TMJ - 35 REC, 500yds Mingo - 30 REC, 390yds RB's - 50 REC, 400yds Other TE's and WR - 50REC - 500yds Reason I say this is that I don't think people realize how hard it will be for TMJ to break out unless there are significant injuries given the stable around him.

Yep

Sorry to be long winded - but I know the "X", "Z", and "slot" is the position on a given play and not the player....just clarifying when I say a slot guy I mean a slot style guy....not just a guy who runs from the slot position.
-
OK let me clarify The "X" receiver is typically your #1 guy - tops in snap counts, spends a large amount of time on the outside but also a great deal, often more snaps in the slot. The "Z" receiver is most often the burner on the team - often but not always the 2nd receiver and can also line up outside or in the slot - sometimes the 2nd most snaps sometimes 3rd The "slot" receiver is most often only in on a 3-receiver set. This player is usually a swiss army knife of routes and spends the majority of time inside. They are only used when the 1st or 2nd receiver isn't occupying the position unless your team is based around a top slot guy like Hill, Edelman. Point being it isn't about how many snaps you run from the position, it is about the ability to run the routes. TMJ plays like an "X" - he isn't crazy fast and is primarily used on the sideline - he doesn't get amazing separation either. He doesn't play the middle of the field much either - not yet anyway. Guess who that sounds like.....MINGO. Thielen has been an "X" receiver most of his career - but he runs every route and gets some of the best separation in the league - so they use him in the slot alot. Most "X" receivers that are best in the league do that. But they aren't really "slot" receivers. Trust slots like Deebo, Samuel, Hill is what I mean. TMJ is gonna have to fight against Theilen and Mingo for that
-
I don't think many see Tremble as the starting TE - he has been a FB/TE hybrid and that is where I think he will be for his career. Redzone target maybe and short yardage check down, but not 1st option receiving. Honestly that is the only reason Ian Thomas is on the roster before we signed Hurst - to be the top receiving TE (scary thought). Only reason Thomas is still on the roster now is because cutting him saved us nothing and would hurt the cap, and no one wants to trade for him. Hurst is on a 3-yr deal - he will get the vast majority of TE receiving plays barring injury. TMJ - as much as I want to believe, he has a tough road this season - Mingo is gonna be a 4-yr contract, Theilen is 3-yr, Chark is 1-yr.....and right now he is gonna be behind all 3 of those if Mingo is even reasonably good. Chark and Theilen are the clear starters right now, and Shi or Mingo probably the slot - TMJ is just not good enough in the slot to start there. I think he is in for rotations a good bit and redzone with his height, but won't get 40 targets. Barring injury who is he gonna take snaps from? I love the predictions - I hope you are right - but there is very little reason to believe it given the reality of the guys in front of them. I agree the Rhule era probably held them down - and the QB play - but unless this team spreads the ball around to 6-7 guys consistently I don't see them getting the targets. - Too many other guys who will be on the field with something to prove.
-
I will never understand opinions like this....so his impact didn't produce stats - or wins apparently as we had a losing season 2/4 years. Also the league didn't think he was even top 3 in his Conference cause he only made 1 Pro Bowl during that. So if he doesn't have stats....and he doesn't make the Pro Bowl....and we don't win the majority of our games in half the seasons....and his defense during that span was top 15 three times.....how is our QB top 5? Insane But you know who was top 5? Luke....Pro Bowl every season during that, All-pro first team 3 times, his side of the ball top 15 three times.....THAT is a GOAT.

Met Rashad at Training Camp 2 years ago. Gave us a shoutout for my son - so incredibly nice of him. Followed the podcast ever since!
