Did I say that? No not at all. I said Clemson didn't have any talent on their offensive line or WR last year and that Duke's offense wasn't that bad. You are welcome to show me where I said Duke's offense had more talent. But last year no their offense was not light years ahead of Duke. They were likely more talented overall but most of that "talent" was on the bench injured. That is what I said.

You are outside of your mind - NO ONE SAID CLEMSON ISN'T TALENTED ABOVE MOST OF THE ACC. READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU RESPOND I said the 2024 offense specifically. And for the record they very rarely get 5-star WR'rs - a decent # of 4's. And go ahead and name me the big time NFL WR'rs they have had....the last one was Tee Higgins in 2020 and they haven't had anything close since, outside of a few games from Justyn Ross. And what WR transfer to Clemson? That is just complete horsecrap. Dabo literally has been criticized for his complete lack of using the portal. You are making stuff up. We are talking about 2024. Stop arguing anything else because I never said it.....at all....or even close. Gees man yall are ridiculous - you read like 4 words of a post on go on a rant at people - you just look foolish.
-
Will you stop trying to argue things I never say? You do it all the time to everyone man - come on dude that is just pathetic and annoying to everyone here. I have yet to argue Clemson's OVERALL talent. I said their OFFENSIVE TALENT IN 2024 specifically. I know Clemson better than most and obviously you if you don't see that....I live here...we discuss it daily during the season with dozens of people who know even more than me. No one said defense and no one said any year other than 2024.
-
Good grief man....you literally just proved my point. Who exactly is in the draft from Clemson's offense? Shipley (who got demoted to backup during the year and was oft injured) will probably get drafted Day 3....only other offensive guy is Putnam who is currently ranked outside of the draft. We are only talking about defense. Clemson hasn't had an NFL caliber WR since Trevor's Sophomore year. 2024 will likely be different. Duke has a 1st round OT.

Especially the Vikings - if they resign JJ they definitely need to save $$ on their QB for the next 4 years to be competitive.

Crazy part is most of the moves that were made on paper I was good with them at the time - the Henderson and Darnold trades I was not happy with, but like last year's free agents? I was excited to have Hurst, Sanders, Thielen, Chark, Bell. 60% of that was an absolute bust. Same the previous years. It is truly not luck that we have been so unsuccessful - statistically it is clearly our fault. I hope this turns quickly.

You don't know much about Clemson if you say they had talent last year. Their top receiver was hurt almost all year, and he isn't an NFL caliber guy anyway. Their OLine was leaking like the Panthers - no joke. And Duke wasn't as bad as you say either - they were ranked part of the year and have multiple NFL prospects including on offence. Trust me the talent difference was not that big on offense....Leonard looked night and day different - much much worse.
-
I just mention Clemson because I am a Clemson guy so I watch all their games. But trust me my assessment isn't biased towards the circumstances. He looked very bad and it wasn't due to the pressure - nothing like the top guys every year. And as I said the rest of his stats also support the opinion....he looked bad in quite a few games before his injury.
-
He is going to be 22 years old when the season starts, 23 when he hits the NFL at best - and he regressed last year significantly. Plenty of guys had decent numbers on poor teams in college. Raw after 3 seasons of college ball is an enormous red flag. But of course that is just an opinion. Personally I think people need to keep their eyes on Cade Klubnik. His first season starting had decent numbers and he had little to no receivers and significant Oline issues. This year he should have targets and Oline improved significantly with a 2nd season under the new system. I'd put money on him being in the conversation next draft if he leaves early.
-
I only saw a few games of Leonard this year, but he looked massively overhyped to me. The Clemson game he looked awful....nowhere near 1st round potential like they are saying. His stats back up his overhype status as well...especially against top teams.

Way too early to predict anything reasonable honestly - FA'cy and the draft will be huge factors in that prediction. But I would expect that we see a heavy investment in the lines and WR room while dealing with these horrible contracts. I absolutely expect no more than 6-7 wins this year no matter what moves we make. Our schedule next year is pretty tough as well...KC, Chargers, Eagles, Cowboys, Bengals. 2024 will be painful but productive I believe. 2025 is where I think we start setting real expectations.

A few trades already floated by insiders over the weekend/few weeks - not offers just thoughts: Baltimore - 2024 1st (30), 2025 3rd, Oweh Detroit - 2024 1st (29), 2025 2nd and 4th I am not mad at either of these

Look yall - some need to calm down. This is exactly what a good GM should do given the current situation. Burns is pushing for $30-33M a year, the Panthers want to pay less. If they let him go they want to maximize the return for a valuable commodity. This is exactly the right play because: If he finds a team that wants to sign him we get 2 first round picks. Or we negotiate a little lower return. If no one wants to give him the $$ he finally understands his real value and we sign him long term for a reasonable contract instead of overpaying. If we release him we get no more than a 3rd round compensatory for him If we give him the $30+ a year we hinder our ability to be truly competitive for another 3 years until we can fix the bad contracts we have lingering. And for the record - Burns is NOT a dawg like Morgan has said. Being good is not the definition. He may have been in the past but clearly 2 years of getting tossed around by the previous GM has taken its toll. None of this is the wrong move.....yet.

Evans wants to play with an "elite QB"
Stingray3030 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
You said Rodgers "hasn't" been elite "for" 3 seasons. This statement means the last 3 seasons Rodgers hasn't been elite since "hasn't" and "for" imply "the past." You may have meant to include the 2024 season, but your use of these words does not imply the future. The last 3 seasons would be 2021, 2022, and 2023 - one of which the man was the MVP....AGAIN.....so clearly not past being elite during stated time frame. SO to fix your statement to what I think you meant you would say "Rodgers hasn't been elite for the last 2 seasons, nor will he be for the 2024 season which is in the future and more than 6 months away so it can't be the past as some may try to imply - which clearly I would never do." Just lookin out for you bro -
Evans wants to play with an "elite QB"
Stingray3030 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Clearly I was joking, but you may need some math help. 3 seasons ago was 2021.....he won the MVP....only 2 seasons have happened since was back to back MVP. -
Not disagreeing with anything said - but Stephen Sullivan...I have really liked him in that receiving TE role. Huge and athletic. The combo of Sullivan + Tremble is good enough to spend money and draft picks elsewhere.

Dude literally won the MVP in back-to-back seasons 2 years ago...then 1 season and an injury -
Every....single.....time

I guess he gave up on "playing with an elite QB"

I gotta say in a time where so many (most) famous people fall short of being accountable for their mistakes in their words and actions - Cam delivered an incredibly mature, accountable apology. Hats off to him for doing the right thing when so many choose not to.

My realistic plan to fix the offense……what’s yours?
Stingray3030 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly I see our OLine needs more as depth than starters - for that reason I would probably prefer a WR or Ja'Tavion Sanders as our 2nd round pick. But I also am fine if we prioritize the 2nd rounder as OLine. I also see OLine depth as much, much easier to find in rounds 3-7 than WR or TE, so another reason to go WR or TE early. That is this year's draft....next year we go after elite players if possible. In FA we need to go after at least 1-2 of the WR you mentioned....personally I prefer Gabe Davis or Ridley to Marquise or Mooney. We need downfield threats and those 2 are much more of it than Marquise and Mooney. Marquise is decent, but just don't think he fits with Mingo and Thielen like Gabe would. I really like KJ Osborn also especially at his price compared to these guys. But no matter which of these guys we go to in FA we should still use the 2nd pick for a WR or Sanders IMO, because all of the reasonable FA WR's we can get are solid #2's....not #1's. We need a future #1, so if we think Coleman, Franklin, etc... are it we need to do it. So mostly I am good with your plan -
Honestly man - I am seriously trying to help you - take a deep breath and stop responding. Every response makes you look worse. You have no clue what you are talking about. Your first paragraph agrees with us COMPLETELY and you are angrily responding with nonsense.
-
Facts are difference than feelings - no one said they don't like having elite players - literally no one. The fact is we cannot afford more than 1-2 elite guys right now because our contracts suck. All of us want the team on the field to be good and win games - but our current situation doesn't give us a chance for that if we dup 60% of our cap space into 1 guys when we need 10 upgrades.

Nothing weird about actually understanding how the NFL works instead of thinking it is like Madden

AJ Brown was traded for a 1st and early 4th a few years back.....I would suspect it would take at least that for JJ, so a 1st and 3rd at least is probably right
