  1. I'm not sure Rodgers could see it any other way. I'd be looking for and exit strategy as well. Not sure why Green Bay should be surprised by any of this.
  2. Hmm, my understanding is that Rodgers has the same agent Palmer used.
  3. I'm no Aaron Rodgers fan, he comes across like an A-hole. So I'm sympathetic with Green Bay for wanting to move on from him in another year or two when Love is gtg. On the other hand Packers haven't given Aaron the help he needs to reach the promised land. Selecting his replacement in the 1st round tells Rodgers it is only a matter of time before management pushes him out. Since Rodgers only has so many years left to play, either provide him with the supporting cast he needs in Green Bay or trade him so he can help another team to the championship. I wouldn't expect Aaron to continue to play the role of a stopgap until Love is ready to take over at the time and choosing of the Packers. Especially when Rodgers could be playing for another team that views him as someone who will win them a championship.
  4. This. Rogers isn't wrong for refusing to play. Green Bay it's your move.
  5. Yep, back in my day, we had a word for teams like the Panthers... A Bunch of Young Whippersnappers. Ok, five words.
  6. I'm an old Raiders fan (before the Panthers were a twinkle in their daddy's eye) and what made Ken Stabler a great QB was his ability to shake off interceptions like they never happened, turn around and burn a defense for a boatload of points. The Raiders were seldom out of a game with that sort of attitude from their QB. As you say, negative plays are a given, but you have to take chances in this game if you want to win.
  7. Yeah, Sam is going to be busy refining his skill set this season. The trick will be teaching him to recognize the difference between a good opportunity and a bad decision.
  8. Darnold has his issues that need addressing, but one of them isn't being afraid to throw the ball downfield like "play it safe, even if it means losing the game" Teddy. The Panthers haven't had an adequate backup QB for years now. Perhaps someone rises to the occasion during the preseason competition. Bottom line: Darnold may turn out to be a diamond in the ruff this year or the search will undoubtedly continue.
  9. For sure, Sam has to know that playbook inside and out. He will also have to learn to recognize the defenses better. If it goes to plan, eventually the game will slow down and Sam can use his natural talents to pick defenses apart. For now, Darnold is still in the early stages of a long journey to the promised land.
  10. I was initially disappointed with the Panthers organization for making public comments that made it clear they weren't happy with Teddy's performance. I still consider it a misstep on their part that likely made it harder to move Bridgewater. After that, Rhule became much more refined/cagy with the information he shared with the public. Does Fitterer have anything to do with that?
  11. I don't think anyone is confused about Darnold being a rookie. However, he is rather young, like a rookie, and he still makes a lot of rookie errors in judgement. He spent his first years in the league w/an organization notorious for lacking good leadership and coaching. The impression I get from Rhule is, he is going to hit the reset button on Darnold's coaching. I believe that is a good call, lower expectations and focus on the basics. It isn't hard to view that as basically treating Sam as a rookie.
  12. Yeah, and it seemed that Fitterer and Rhule targeted Darnold awhile ago. It took the Jets awhile before they were ready to have the discussion.
  13. After what I just witnessed these last few days, I don't get the impression that Fitterer and Rhule didn't have a well considered list of possible replacements. They likely just went down that list until they secured a QB. Was Darnold at the bottom of that list? I don't know, but I doubt it.
  14. Too early to tell. If the Darnold trade didn't work out, who knows, maybe the first pick would've been a rookie QB? Or maybe they'd have gone after another team's backup? Rhule has only been a head coach for one season, so it is hard for me to say if he is set in his ways. I suspect he isn't, but there is no way to know for sure. Rivera/Hurney, they're pretty much a known quantity at this point in their careers and I'm good with them working for another organization.
  15. By all means. That has been going on here for years, done quite a bit of it myself.
  16. Just view the Huddle as free mental therapy for disenchanted Panther fans.
  17. No mental gymnastics required. Clearly Rhule and his staff saw enough good in Sam Darnold to trade for him.
  18. Yeah, it kinda supports that old saying: Everyone has an opinion, just like they have an...
  19. I wouldn't worry too much about it. This is a football message board that doesn't add up to a hill of beans, beyond a way to kill some time sharing opinions.
  20. Maybe you should just stick with saying what you mean, rather than trying make excuses for what you posted. TLDR: Words have meaning.
  21. There were a few posters here that stated they'd no longer be fans if Jones was the Panther pick. Other than that, there wasn't much discussion of it in the media.
