  1. The cap can be maneuvered but we all know what kicking the can down the road leads to. I'm assuming the plan is some positions will simply be stopgap until we can better position ourselves with draft picks over the next few years. Of course that's where the concern enters because we really need to nail most of the picks but so far we've been horrendous and we retained the same scouting dept. Morgan has a great deal on his plate and he has plenty of question marks as a first time GM that worked directly with Fitterer. I'll reserve judgment and try to avoid getting too high or low until we get to camp and preseason.
  2. We have well over one hundred million dollars tied up in the oline to protect the smallest starting QB in the league that we traded a ransom to move up for. What exactly are you expecting? Filling in the roster with what we can get while we work on the offense was always the inevitability like it or not.
  3. Can't absolve him of his role with Fitterer. He was directly involved in some very poor decisions. All I can do is hope he drafts well. But. He is working with the same scouting dept so that's not exactly encouraging. We'll see.
  4. People here pumping up Dan Quinn? Interesting taste.
  5. If Evero approves I'm alright with it. He's 29 though so we're just plugging in what we can until we can reload with another draft next year.
  6. Certainly the revolving door with the coaching staff did him no favors.
  7. I liked Chinn. Sucks to see him go. I'll always remember that highlight game he had. Could argue we didn't use him and squandered him. On the flip side you could argue that he not unlike Burns was in the mold of an although talented player he just didn't have that consistent game changer mentality. Maybe we've gotten hung up on players that flashed just enough to give us hope. Even Kony Ealy looked pretty good in SB50. Doesn't make a career though.
  8. I like it. If we lack pass rushers on the edge at least we have some girth in the middle
  9. Given the current state of the defense. Yes make this happen. But let's please not overpay much.
  10. I have to imagine Evero has been in the loop through all of this. Ultimately this is probably good for him in the fact this will be a scenario where if he fields a decent defense through all this adversity he's pretty much all but guaranteed a head coaching job next year.
  11. Honestly it's getting to the point that Higgins is becoming overrated. To me if you are a team considering a splash move the only WR that you possibly make a run at in a trade is Justin Jefferson. Other than that if Higgins is all you aspire to get you can take a WR in this fairly deep draft.
  12. You BY apologists sound nervous. I don't think most people are mad that we are investing in the offense that has been mediocre to putrid the last several years. They are mad that due to mismanagement we are continually shipping off talent for very little. Bryce Young is going to be setup and given the resources to succeed that much is clear. Almost all Panthers fans hope he does. But if he does not. Another QB will be walking into a significantly better position. Competition is a good thing. Honestly BY needs some of that. There can be no excuses. He needs to step up and command the locker room. This is his team now. This is the season that will tell us all we need to know about the mettle of Bryce Young the QB and about that leadership ability that we heard so much about a year ago.
  13. Sir don't be sexist and forget to give Nicole her credit in this.
  14. Aren't you the guy who came at my neck multiple times for speaking the truth about Bryce Young last year? You're welcome to go back and read the threads about the offer at the time yourself. Two of the 3 most sought after positions then and now remain QB's and pass rushers. The issue isn't just that we turned down the trade for picks that were years away. It's that our former GM went completely stupid and kept one upping himself with all in moves one after the other until he finally got the first overall pick and managed to take the wrong QB. Burns now no matter how one may feel about him is still worth at least one first round pick. No team would give us that because they've seen us give away other players for mediocre return and they know we are absolutely desperate to fix the QB we just drafted. You know. The one you defended tooth and nail.
  15. You're this desperate to help the man who carried water for Scott Fitterer more than anyone else? What a kind knight in shining armor. I was 50/50 on the offer but the picks were years away and I saw the value in Burns looking at the current picture of the team before we made the slew of future mortgaging panic moves that set us on this collision course thanks to Scott Fitterer. Burns trade value has bottomed now since that offer because of the trade for Bryce Young and everything that has followed. Everyone knows we're completely desperate. In hindsight sure you make the trade to the Rams. Few people at the time wanted to hear it though don't act like I was the only one.
  16. Tepper is in hiding he's made Nicole the face of Panthers PR. And you better not make any undignified remarks.
  17. In all seriousness since we have nothing else to talk about can we dunk on the Scott Fitterer apologists for a bit? Mr. Scot show yourself.
  18. If Bryce Young hasn't basically moved his whole life into the weight room by the morning...
  19. I mean there are people here who could have done a better job the last few years. Not trading for Sam Darnold was a pretty obvious one.
  20. It's still very early but at the end of the day no matter which view you take on all this we did hire the right hand man and best friend of the worst Panthers GM in team history by a significant margin.
  21. Oooooof. Well. It's going to be interesting to bump this thread next year. Some folks are either going to look like fools or pretty smart. Based on the Panthers history with moves like these I wouldn't bet money on the latter.
  22. Sucks to see him go but I would not say he's irreplaceable. Certainly not if Brian Burns isn't. Now we're heading into my fear scenario though where we basically have to navigate a stellar draft. Hey it's sure a good thing we didn't retain the same scouting dept behind some of the worst drafts in franchise history the last few years. Oh...
  23. We have the worst win % in all of sports the last few years and it isn't because of the defense. You guys just be sure to keep the same energy. The Panthers haven't gotten a great return in a trade in a long time. I don't expect this to go much different.
  24. I mean maybe not that exact word but people have talked like he's a jag that's not an exaggeration.
