Yeah Herbert is supposedly out as of a few hours ago, and they're playing with a backup QB. Also Blackshear can snake some Chuba snaps even if Sanders is still in the dog house -
I mean you can grab a clip of him throwing 15 yards or whatever, time it and then convert it online from yards/second to mph. Not exact science but enough to know it's way more in the 50 mph range than the 60 mph CJ and AR threw at the combine. I think that's a big reason why he didn't want to throw side by side. When he threw alone at his pro day it's easier for people scouting him to see it as "good enough"

So basically the Colts/Broncos TNF game from last year? That was so bad it was entertaining, but that was also before anyone could have dreamed that Reich would get fired there just to get hired here and coach just as badly
-
I think they do. Only number I remember reading is we were in shotgun 75% of the time through his first 4 games. We were also only running the ball like a dozen times a game for all but game 1 it seems like

Good point, Twitter/GMFB is saying Herbert isn't getting activated tonight -

Speaking of I have to either play Chuba or D'onta... -
And is it just for 1st down formations? Those will tend to be more hand offs than play action if you're under center. Except for the last pick 6 in the Colts game where we went play action on 1st down after the long Hurst pass for some reason
-
Play action/under center snaps are oddly hard stats to find online but this was his last attempt at one. He also only ran like 4 plays under center in college or something crazy like that. That makes the run game/play action game really tough to execute. Yeah the Eagles are in shotgun a lot as I'm sure someone will point out but Hurts is a running threat out of the gun so it's different.

That's why that under center play action interception came about. He physically can't roll out from under center and see anything. It's also why he takes 7-10 step drops out of already being in shotgun, so he's throwing 10-15 yards behind the line of scrimmage just to be able to scan the field

Why would anyone put themselves through the effort to break down this tape, or watch said break down? I'm guessing JT will skip this week

For Bryce bad footwork and mechanics were "off platform throws" and being a "play maker". They were really just him scrambling around so he could see down the field and literally jumping in the air to get throws off. Worked against guys that wouldn't make practice squad in the league but when NFL DE's are at least as fast as Bryce his college game doesn't translate.

The fact Dalton asked for his own plays in Seattle was super weird, and he was pretty successful in a very loud environment. Today we were at home and getting false starts with like zero crowd noise. Just very odd
-
And he ran O-line meetings at training camp! That's turned out well lol. Who knows what he's calling audibles out of that might have actually worked so far. I'd like to see a month of Dalton at this point just to see if the whole staff and roster aren't complete trash when running with an established QB

Bryce defenders, please give me a reason why you're still hopeful

Like who and with what track records? He's not getting taller, his arm isn't getting stronger, at best he might get better at reading defenses and throwing less interceptions. We've gone through roughly 4 years of hell just to get back to having Teddy B or Kyle Allen and no 1st round pick next year
