  1. It’s funny to see Funchess as a bust (he was) and people thinking TMJ was doing well and was going to bust out this year. Funchess in his first 3 years had 117-1684 and 17 TDs, which isn’t great TMJ is 2 games into year 3 looking like he’s WR4 and has 47-651-1TD In order for TMJ to reach the bust of Funchess in year 3, he would need 70-1033 and 16TDs in the next 15 games. I’m going with the under on that bet.
  2. It’s a bit of a mixed bag. Chubba is averaging 7 ypc, but he only has 11 carries and he has had some longer runs mixed in. He’s played well, but he’s got 1/3 of the carries that Sanders had. Sanders is not doing well on 32 carries (3.6 ypc) and that’s most of the rushes we’ve seen. Also, Young had that one big scramble so his ypc is over 10 and that’s not sustainable.
  3. That’s what’s pissing me off the most in these discussions. The goal posts have shifted so much it’s crazy. I truly hope the problem is the offense and from the play calling, that sure seems like a distinct possibility. Don’t like the idea of having to start over but the vanilla/just preseason/we don’t want to give away with two division games/he knows everything and is soaking it in/haven’t opened up the playbook comments don’t live in the same world. We’ve gotten contradiction all over the place when the real results are simply a bad offensive effort except for when NO went complete prevent.
  4. Not a Cam exactly. Herbert or Lawrence or Burrow or Mahomes or Allen or Hurts would be fine as well. I just meant a QB with enough upside that they could play well enough to win it all. I don’t look at Young and say yep, he looks the part of a potential elite QB.
  5. I would legit cry. After years of knowing we had to rebuild with Cam gone, we’ve done everything we could to not improve our draft slot so we could just pick a QB we loved with no trade up. We of course also traded away gobs of picks. If this is the one year we have a Cam like top pick and it’s in the Bears’ hands, it will be like 50 kicks to the balls.
  6. After the next 4, all of the rest of the games minus Dallas and Jax are winnable IMHO. I’m not saying we will play well enough to win anything because these two games were winnable and we were only close last night because of a terrible prevent D. This legitimately is a cake schedule for a good team, but we don’t appear to be even an average team.
  7. Yeah, this era isn’t starting off well for coach, GM or QB. It’s hard to be a fan when this is what you get from a QB and staff that should have been able to step right in. Young was making OL calls and was processing way more than we could fee him. Reich has already been a head coach and has a supposed great staff. Why are we being told that we should have lowered expectations? I wonder where that Gerry guy is. He might need some help after the first two games. I just want to find another Cam, a QB who can win games and has a ceiling to win it all and it would be nice if we do when we also have a quality coach and GM. Other teams get it, so why can’t we? We only got Cam and he almost got it done anyway.
  8. That was funny when Ellis said that he looked great then. Dude was so wrapped up in hating Rhule that he’s grasping at straws to defend the current regime.
  9. At this point, I hope Young gets it but this post is just the same old excuse post. Just like when we were just a QB away after Wills showed us we had an OK team and Young was the most pro-ready QB of them all. Now it’s preseason didn’t count because we were being vanilla (which appears to be the real offense) and anyone who though we could win with Young as a rookie was stupid. It’s like daily affirmations. They keep repeating new truths so they don’t have to admit they were wrong before and their goal posts move.
  10. I wouldn’t be. If he’s not a guy who can win a SB or win an MVP, I’d rather he just crashed and burned so we could move on to a QB who can. We have already wasted 5, now 6, years post healthy Cam. I don’t want to waste a decade. I wish we hadn’t traded so many god damn picks for nothing so we had some more young talent around Young to evaluate him better. Sucks that we don’t.
  11. I recall being poo’d on just saying our depth is paper thin and unfortunately it’s starting to look like we will be testing that depth this year. Also, don’t forget G. Down two starters right now. Depth didn’t look as good today. Got a rough stretch coming up @Seattle, Minnesota, @Detroit and @Miami before we see the other rookie QBs and Fields. Our schedule after the next 4 is relatively easy aside from Dallas and Jax. Hopefully, we figure things out for the other 9. If we do at least we won’t watch the Bears get Harrison Jr with our pick.
  12. It’s weird to see this take out of you as big as a Cam fan as you were/still are. Cam in 2011 was an anomaly. I liked Young even though the size was a potential issue. I think I mainly just wanted a rookie and was willing to believe in our vast staff QB knowledge that Young would be really good. It’s hard to say what’s to blame the most, Reich, WRs or Young, but you’re lying if you haven’t watched all his deeper throws and noticed serious accuracy issues. He’s not Cam or even close to him on the deep ball. Here’s hoping he settles into a Wilson or Brees like career.
  13. Whether or not OP was a troll, I agreed with him and it seems as though we were right. Two games where we fell behind and he’s managed 2 catches for 23 yards. He’s on pace for 17-196 and he seems to be our WR4 now. He was drafted just before the #1 and #19 ranked Centers we desperately needed at the time. Bozeman is ranked #17 and has been fine, but passing up arguably the best C in the league when our OL was shut was horrible. Ugh, there were a bunch of us wanting OL like crazy that draft. KC road 2 OL we should have taken to a SB win. OK, enough whining by me, just wondering if people still feel like he’s got loads of potential. I’m still down on him and hope Chark stays healthy so we can evaluate him and hope Mingo gets all the WR3 reps so we can see what he’s got.
  14. Three things that I noticed last night. First was something I already felt. Marshall isn’t good enough to be our answer at WR. The team seems to agree a bit as Mingo was out there a lot. I would like to see the snaps. Second is way more concerning. Granderson, who has a career high 5.5 sacks, looked like a monster against Iky. Third, Burns seemed to be easily handled by Ramzyck (I think it was him mainly) with a simple chip or just by himself. I will say that I missed parts of the game, but I didn’t feel good about 2 or 3. 1 was as expected to me.
  15. Which is not a good thing IMHO. I know our WRs are bad, but almost every deeper throw just seems way off.
  16. Are you already saying that our all star coaching staff was the wrong choice?
  17. Reminds me of our 1-7 finish to 2018 when opponents realize Cam’s arm was shot that year and he couldn’t throw it deep.
  18. Yeah, pinning the special on a drive where the D was in full prevent mode is grasping a bit. No idea if Young will work out like we hope but that drive was helped a lot by the Saints.
  19. It’s amazing what we could have done. With pick 36 (and a little trade up) we could have had LaPorta or Musgrave as a future athletic pass catching TE with some blocking ability. Then we have two more firsts which we probably could have used in the Young trade. Bears would have rather had the Rams picks and maybe we don’t have to deal DJ. We already traded CMC but damn, we could have easily kept him if we were thinking trade Burns was too priority. Those three draft picks (Rams or saving our own) should bet us a TE, solid WR and solid OL to help out Young and you still have $30M a year to sign a couple FAs to help out on D. It was a no brainer and I liked Burns from before we drafted him. It’s a matter of him not being at the Bosa level where you don’t take that haul. We clearly have too many gaping holes on offense to not make that trade if we wanted to go all in on a QB this past draft.
  20. Rattle off the list of QBs that started day one? You think that’s hard? 2023 - All three 1sts started day 1 2022 - Pickett came in game 4, started every game since 2021 - Lawrence, Wilson and Mac started week 1. Trey Lance is dog poo and Fields started week 3. 2020 - Burrow started week 1, Herbert started week 2 (no idea why) and Tua started late because of his hip injury when people weren’t even sure if he’d play that year. Love was selected when GB had a HOF QB there. 2019 - Murray started day 1, Jones started week 3. Haskins was trash. Sorry, but I hope you weren’t actually being serious when you thought I was wrong that top rookie QBs, especially top 10 picks start week 1. Outside of injury (Tua), being behind a HOF QB (Love) or just being a shitty QB (Lance and Haskins) that doesn’t even make it through the rookie deal, almost every QB drafted in the first started week 1 or at worst week 3. Honestly, I probably shouldn’t even have Pickett or Love in my list because they were taken by playoff teams at 20+ draft slots. Every 1st overall pick in the last 5 drafts (4 of them) started week 1 and haven’t stopped starting except for injury. If Young sat for Dalton for most of this year, I’d say we fuged up the pick royally. He may never reach elite status but if he didn’t start until we’ll into the season it would be a really bad sign as the top pick.
  21. Well, he may be the best all around threat ever. That size and speed combo hasn’t been seen since Jim Brown but Brown couldn’t throw it like Taysom. God broke the mold when he created that specimen.
  22. Well, at least we can get started figuring out our solid 1st round pick this year…oh fug. 0-2 in the division while the rest of the division is 6-0 might be the worst position we’ve been early in the year in a while. Cam no shoulder was 6-2 his last year sort of healthy year, Allen was 5-1 after Cam was lost after 2 games, Teddy started 3-2, Sam started 3-0 and last year we were in the division race until the last week.
  23. That’s BS. Plenty of teams have started rookie QBs with no issues at all. The #1 overall pick has to start.
  24. We mortgaged our future with Young, didn’t trade Burns to get him some weapons (Sam LaPorta wen two picks before the Rams 2nd we could have had) and we basically traded CMC for Mingo and DJ Johnson. SF clearly already won that trade and CMC hasn’t even played a full season with them. Heck, I think the Rams won that trade by not making it and the Bears may have a new QB or Marvin Harrison Jr to go with DJ Moore. Young still has time to develop but could we have screwed the pooch more so far with those trades/non-trade.
  25. Donte is not lockdown. RB was wide open. Back breaking blown coverage by Donte.
