I think it comes down to having the biggest freak of all at his same position, Mr. Peppers. People are spoiled on that mans pure generational talent. Hard to compare anyone to live up to that. I find myself even thinking every time someone mentions a good defensive end we have or a good linebacker, the first thing I start thinking is "they are no Luke or no Julius". Those are some nearly impossible shoes to fill there.

Yeah we definitely need more people to step up this year and even more hep next year due to not having a 1st rounder to draft help. Hopefully some good free agents may want to come here and not break our bank in the off season. Some more diamond in the rough Frankie Luvu guys would be great

I work in real estate and sellers constantly want to high ball while buyers constantly want to low ball but in the end they usually are able to meet somewhere in the middle and shake hands which is what I hope happens here. Both parties happy with what they got and both feel good about where they are
-
Yeah thats true it does raise each year along with the salary cap so it does make it sting less long term
-
If you put it that way it seems to be. Hopefully his production continues to rise each year as it has been doing. On a good note, he doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would get paid and then put it on cruise control. He seems like a high character set an example leadership type of guy

In other words to keep Burns we are definitely going to be paying top dollar for sure I guess then. If we don't, lots of other teams would it appears
-
We need more pass rush regardless of what he signs for. Sure would be nice to find some gem in the draft with a hella ability to get to the QB lined up on the other side of Burns. Pressure constantly coming from both sides and some nasty pressure up the middle would be great.

Geez, I guess that position is truly the highest of importance right under QB!
-
Makes sense. Hope they both arent waiting on one another or it could take forever
-
Ouch
-
Yeah thats high as can be. I dont even think Bosa will get that
-
What do you think Bosa ultimately settles at? Burns should be below him obviously but probably going to be very close
-
Damn that presents a problem. They are at 24, he is at 27-28. 3-4 million apart is a good distance still
-
I saw online that he supposedly wants 27-28 million per year and I think they said Panthers are at 23-24 million. Do you think they settle at 25-26 per year?

Should we have waited for our edge help? (Chandler Jones?)
Ricky Prickles replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looks like some drama. Maybe they should trade him to us for nothing at all -
I don't think he is wishing Burns ill will or hating him. I think he is just saying to call his bluff and that he doesn't not technically have all the power here as many think. I like Buena and want him on the team long term as well but I would prefer not make him the hugest paid in the league at his position as he has not yet proven to be the best at his position. I feel like the guy was trying to get that point across

I can't fault their prediction seeing as how we looked in the preseason and with all new staff and young QB and many new players etc. The Falcons are going to be improved I think and trending upward but not sure if they go 9-8 myself. Who knows but will be interesting to see how the Panthers play and how we hopefully improve as the season moves forward
-
I don't think everyone who is afraid to pay what will probably be highest or right under the highest salary for his position in the league is hating on him. Some definitely but not everyone. Some I think are just worried and cautiously concerned. He is a very good player. No he isn't Julius Peppers and I think us having him spoiled us and at the same time ruined us for all future players. Julius was a once in a generationally gifted athlete and though Burns is very good we can't expect him or all future guys to live up to Peppers. Put me in the category or realizing we do have to pay him but hoping we get top production out of him and I believe he does have a great chance of giving that to us in this new defense that more fits his skillset.
-
Agreed. He turned into a complete moronic cancer that destroys everything he is around soon after that.
-
Yeah it looks like im rooting for Deon and his son next week then
-
I think if he shows well in this system this season I would have no problem paying him his market value. Im hoping he is ridiculously successful and we have to pay him well as that means we have a great piece of the puzzle and can focus on adding from there. Someone on the other side who can get pressure to sure would be awesome
