Im feel pretty blue about our prospects.. That Miami trade screwed us in a few ways. We know that by the Atlanta pick 3 QB's will be gone. To Atlanta is really in control of the draft now and given their restructure of Ryan I could see them trading down as someone tries to move up for a QB. So assuming that happens the top 4 QB's are gone. Next year Phil will have 3 1st round picks and be in a much better position to move us to get a QB that we will unless we lose out. Trading up to get a QB seems like a bad idea because we have a bad team at right now. (our O Line is terrible) so giving up that much capital for the 4th or 5th best guy seems like a bad move. I think we need to trade down, get more capital and just see how the team plays this year...

IMO... Gunslinger = "meh throw it up and hope for the best!" Game Manager = plays within the structure of the offense" Isnt the entire point of football to with within structure?

I think that if we draft a QB you start them day 1.. worst case you let them sit till week 4. They need actual game reps and the rookie contracts makes it far to advantageous to get them on the field early rather than waiting.

Drafting Luke when we still had Beason. If I remember correctly that was a very unpopular move at the time.

Yeah Darnold is in a tough position for getting moved. I could get behind him if we think we are totally out of the QB drafting market. But I dont think there is a huge improvement from him and Teddy Honestly I think year 2 Teddy would be better than year 1 Darnold + a pick.

I get what you are saying but thats not entirely a fair comparison. Im not tied to Teddy, but if we dont get a QB, I would bet that Teddy is going to be much better this coming year than he was last year. And a few more plays from Teddy this past year would have shut the entire QB conversation down.

Im doubtful that we land a QB this draft. Im just hoping that Teddy makes a similar transition that Derek Carr made this past year.

I agree FA is where you should try to set yourself up for the draft. But there is definitely a value scale. For example if you pick #5 overall and your big board has #5 TE, #6 DE then the best value at that position should be the DE. I do agree you cannot go in 100% with either philosophy. A team drafting Value means every year they draft a QB in round 1 A team drafting PBA is drafting Roberto Aguayo in the second.

I would agree with you on some media people. But some media people are just talking heads while others actually study the film. So that field is rather diverse. I dont know if I would agree with you entirely on the NFL organization comment tho. I do get your point

Yeah there are always exceptions but I do think there is a 'rule of thumb' involved here.

I like how everyone here who has watched a few YouTube highlights thinks they know better than people that actually get paid for this kind of thing. Given last years drafting success I have total trust in this teams ability to get the right guy. (despite what we think)
