Notebook: Dave Canales "open" to playing starters Saturday
strato replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I pledged Canales a benefit of the doubt this year and will start his test year two if he makes it lol. If it doesn’t work, we may see a different approach next year. I am like, what do we have to lose? I predicted 6 wins... is 5 or 4 going to make that much of a difference? In draft position yeah but otherwise I care all that much if it is 11 losses or 15 losses. I would be happy as a fan if they ramp up their game as the season progresses and are showing us something good by season’s end. I always say, if they can be good enough to spoil someone’s playoff hopes that is some good progress. -
What is the benefit to benching starters for the preseason?

That is true about Denver. I was cringing all was it two weeks or one, but I was cringing because our side was acting way over confident to me. I saw it coming. Talk afterwards... but when you win, no words needed. -
I agree on the likeability. I agree on Watson for plenty of reasons... that money was ridiculous too. BUT.... Let me ask you rhetorically, no answer needed: who is your most disappointing player that you complain about or dog or whatever? Do you hate the guy personally? Or do you maybe hate, instead, that he falls short of your expectations? His play on the field. Do we get to call you a hater for criticizing? If you wanted him replaced, it would be because you hate him personally? Y’all know better than that.

I hear you on the winning. I understand that there are ways to scheme this and we probably both understand that if there is no field stretching going on, it will be very difficult to make anything work. I also see ‘not the worst’, breaking new ground etc. Those aren’t positives to me. Still, it is an easy question to answer, isn’t it? =The conclusion may be loaded, or not. Seems simple. Is this like those hearings where someone asks a direct question but cannot ever get a simple answer? It is a pretty direct question. My answer is: I don’t see a single physical trait that is above average by NFL standards. Which IMO when speculating about NFL success, you want to have something above average to hang your hat on. I guess it is still the processor, but he has to operate around historically advanced physical specimens. To not acknowledge the .. physics(?) of it seems to be at least a little intentionally unobservant. That’s all.

Totally is. Don’t care what college it is. There are minuscule numbers of guys who don’t struggle to step it up a level, at least some. Look at them physically in college and then after a season or two in the NFL, little bit of a difference. That’s what you’ll face in the NFL, it’s not just that DT or the CB or LB or RB or WR, it’s all 11 of them over there on Sundays.

TV is your problem there. Turn the fuger off, it is trash anyway. The texts and calls are horrible I agree.

I asked multiple times in here for someone to name one physical tool that is above NFL average and may as well have asked someone to show me the secret to the universe. There was nothing coming back. 2024 hopefully resolves this poo on way or the other.

Fox chased those 2 pt conversions in SB 38. Had he not I think they needed the winning FG to tie. I seem to recall Pats made a 2 pt conversion but they wouldn’t have tried it if we had just stuck to the 6pts plus 1 pt standard. He did a great job getting us there, and that loss hurt bad. -
He ain’t making that up. It absolutely was bad if you disagreeed with Bryce as the pick prior to and OMG after was worse. Ridicule, lots of lowbrow behavior, don’t really give a poo if you disagree with that. It truly was the source of much resentment in the people that were the objects of ridicule for having a negative opinion about The Processor.

If that really happened it isn’t a Bad sign. They still can’t really hit people though, can they? Like QB still playing touch football?

How long will the Carolina Panthers rebuild take?
strato replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Reading all of this I concluded he got the teardown right. Damn good at that. It’s that pesky doing something something to get better that he cannot grok to save his life. I am feeling like he has learned more of what not to do, but he hasn’t proven it yet. -

7 years, right? -
It was intentional thanks for noticing. You are the first to call it out.
-
You are a fan, right? Do you think your opinion is something to be disregarded when analyzing the Panthers?
-
Brother, I have no fallback. Was anyone but Bryce and he has done very little to change that into 'oh poo i am a dumbass’ but he could. My whole thing was/is, even if he somehow succeeds you are making it way harder than it needed to be. Why? He could succeed but that would still be true. And what degree of success makes people into idiots for doubting? Success will be a low bar for some, a high bar for others, mine is high.
-
The doubters for sure want the team to succeed. It is a matter of belief in him being the guy to make that happen that is in people’s minds. My official pole would put that number at 80% not convinced, there are varying degrees of doubt. And 20% has some degree of faith, with a good 10% all up his jock no matter what. edit: Not convinced, ranges from some uncertainty all the way to hell no, never-no way.
-
With a custom made scheme he can probably do better. I think we knew that last year. Never saw it. And what does ’better’ mean? It would have to be Clark Kent to Man of Steel type better to make enough difference. When the red jersey comes off, we’ll see.

So, I found more which is after the trade deadline vested vets have to pass through waivers. What I didn’t find is do you lose your position if you claim a player?
