  1. That’s definitely possible. I just hold to traditional job and feel like no matter how distasteful you may find the task, it falls to you as the coach to at least go through the motions. I think he texted him. I hate that.
  2. I would feel warm inside if they actually addressed the QB position. At the same time let’s be realistic, they are starting Bryce. Spending too much draft capital on a backup can get in line behind more pressing needs.
  3. Uhh, yeah that is pretty steep. Here is where I am going to say Dan will be an asset. He will know if we can get by with a little less for a lot less. My ideal would be get a good bona fide pro level starter and shoot for the all pro or pro bowl guy in the draft.
  4. I don’t know how big any lies may be. There is clearly apparent viewpoint bias for sure. But even when people stretch and bend the truth, there is still a truth component somewhere in there. I believe him when he says Ron ducked it for instance. (That would not have been a pleasant experience). In the end you can’t cheat on your wife, and everybody knows it, and claim to be 100% honest. Edit: would I believe that maybe he said something to Ron that sort of gave him the green light to stay out of it? Could be and he is leaving that out.
  5. Hope it works that way. An ancillary benefit of having so many holes.
  6. I made the point it was one side of the story. But what he said about Gettleman, the chronology, seemed pretty accurate. What I remember is Smitty’s contract was prohibitively expensive due to its structure and he would not renegotiate. Sort of forced their hand because it was a very high figure for the era. That could tie in with him wanting out. I remember I pointed that out but people didn’t want to hear that at the time. I don’t blame them, Smitty was probably my favorite Panther I ever watched play, again… at the time. He might still be if I went back and watched. My thing with it is mostly Gettleman dropping the bomb at the combine. It foreshadowed his Norman melt down, Mr Tact.
  7. How can they be sure he’ll succeed if they don’t give him every chance? In case I need to say it, that is sarcasm.
  8. I like the idea that if we have an opportunity to trade back due to a QB or maybe a really good WR falling that we do it and get some better value a little lower and at the same time have ammo to move up in the second. I don’t like where we are sitting there. I’d at least like to move ahead of Atlanta and TB in round 2. If we could swing it.
  9. Tells me, after watching Morgan, that we will see a very active FA period trying to get us to taking BPA. At the very least day 1. edit: Dan doesn’t seem to be too worried about the cap. I believe a direct quote from McAfee is “you can always make money” when asked about the available cap. Cap keeps going up every year. A salary now that is very high will probably be average in three to four years so I won’t sweat that stuff too much.
  10. I think it was pretty much just that. And I have heard that before too. Smitty was telling how he came to be off the team and there initially was a bunch of Gettleman stuff. Then as he got into it it started coming back to him aa he remembered Ron’s role. I didn’t watch that Smitty and Cam video but for some reason I clicked on this one telling about his exit. I hear what you are saying and considered Ron wanted to avoid a nasty situation. Likely having had plenty of Smitty already. But he is the leader of that team and no pushover physically. Send for Smitty and his playbook. You don’t do that, points off the stand up guy score. It has little really to do with Smitty for me, more Ron. And I became less of a Ron fan as his time here neared its end. So I don’t take the trouble to defend him on this one. I wanted to watch because that situation was a large part of me souring on Gettleman. I think I was watching ESPN when they asked him about a Smitty at the combine and I really did not like his attitude and answer. You talk to the player in private not over the air to the world.
  11. I haven’t seen anything in Wallace that says more than depth. I would say that is who he is, and encourage him to be the best depth he can be. He is slow to the ball. Around the piles not at the bottom of them. I watched him closely for a few games and he was the guy that stands over the pile. Only shot he has is late blooming. I would not really want to gamble a lot on that happening. I have been wrong before could be wrong here.
  12. He was saying Ron hid when he was cut/traded whatever that was. I get being resentful, and feeling like that was gutless. He, and Ron, neither are from the ‘breaking up with someone in a text or email is okay’ generation. That avoidance is seen as a lack of character. Talking about it on camera how many years later? Why? And it is all one sided he said she said stuff. As he is speaking I am thinking well I bet that ain’t the whole story. Between this type of stuff and him cheating on the wife stuff some of his shine is wearing off.
  13. 18.4 mph back pedaling seems awful fast. We need to get him to show Bryce how to speed that crap up.
  14. I think we have one. Nick Samac. Young player, 24. 6’4” 315# He is on the 53 pretty sure. Found him on the Roster tab on the team site. I think he may have been active before. Looked at wiki. signed in September off the Ravens practice squad. Apperantly on the roster all season. 2nd year guy.
  15. Yeah we are depleted now as it stands and an injury away from complete catastrophe if we don’t make multiple moves for the OL. I hate forestalling the upgrading of some weak areas like the pass rush, really hate it, but man we need to get this OL straight.
  16. Guess he needed more carries to get going. I don’t watch college ball much. Hardly any. I used to pore over all these players in these mocks around where we were slotted to pick and spend a lot of time on it. Then a trade would happen and we’d be picking somewhere else. My thought is this guy better hope a team that has a great passing game takes him because defenses will stack and crowd in and make his day hell if his QB can’t take some heat off. So he doesn’t need to be here.
  17. What game with 10 carries are we talking about here?
  18. He is what he is ever gonna be at this point. Mediocrity needs to be rejected. I know you have to accept it as depth but when their contract gets too fat, you have to bring in cheaper mediocrity that at least has some headroom to grow into better.
  19. Mesidor makes a little sense given that Dan will be real familiar with him, apparently he still follows Miami pretty closely. That looks good if Icky’s injury never happened. I don’t know what it looks like now. We just need too much.
  20. I may regret it but right now I don’t mind this. Time for some new blood and fresh legs.
  21. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7074178/2026/02/26/nflpa-report-cards-2026-grades/?source=user_shared_article Its a pay wall but the whole list is out. I’m not sure how to take the coach/GM evaluations for teams that cleaned house after the season. There are some good grades for apparently fired people, or newly hired people. Someone tell me which.
  22. Yeah that’s what they are calling an edge. It is confusing. In the 34 it is OLB. In the 43 it can be DE. I think that’s how they are using the term.
  23. I remember that post. Way back when we took him, I could not figure out how he could see where to throw it. I had this notion that he was spatially super aware and was really just throwing to a spot, and could do a pretty good job of that even if he couldn’t see it. Clock in your head, timed with the receiver, be exactly there at the right time and he will get the ball there. I really never could figure out how it was going to work.
