I'll take the proven MVP caliber QB. Yes, even over the rookie contract.
-
I'm just not sold on Lawrence being this super prospect. Yeah, he checks all the boxes but the vast majority of the time he's ever taken a field his team was head and shoulders better than the competition.
-
It's year two unless Rhule was trying to get Tepper to fire Marty last year and it was Tepper's call to keep him. I just hope Tepper can learn and adapt because unfortunately you can't fire owners. Any Cowboys or WFT fan know this well.
-
Yep. That's a huge x factor here. If you're sold on Wilson you're dumb to trade a huge haul for Watson. Just make the pick and keep all those other assets to keep building.
-
But put yourself in their shoes. You want a defensive starter. I want Burns. If I can't get him, I want Brown or Chinn. That's the end of the list.

Taking off my homer glasses, the Jets have some HUGE advantages. 1. They have the #2 overall pick. They can guarantee the Texans the #2 QB prospect in this draft (a.k.a. Zach Wilson) 2. They have Sam Darnold to potentially dangle if the Texans have any interest. He has a lot more upside than Teddy. 3. They have a second 1st round pick in this year's draft to offer where we would be limited to offering future 1sts beyond #8. 4. The Jets are reportedly his preferred destination and he has a no trade clause so he has to okay any trade before it can be finalized. Overall, I still think he's the Jets to lose but we're a live dog.

I think anyone speaking in certainties on this situation is setting themselves up to look like a jackass in general, but honestly if I'm a betting man I'm betting he doesn't play another game for the Texans. I actually have a $20 bet with a buddy for exactly that. Back up y'all. Big baller coming through.
-
Yeah, I can't at all vouch for the Twitter user. No clue. I still think our best shot is if the Texans would really prefer to ship him out of the AFC and Watson isn't trying to force his way to NY. Without that, I have to think the Jets are in the driver's seat here. They just have better potential trade bait.

Yeah, our history at FS is straight up trash. Deon Grant is probably the only FS we've ever had who would actually have been welcomed as a starter for more than a handful of teams in the league. We have historically been ran by dinosaurs who still think the safety position is of low value and ignoring how increasingly pass happy the NFL is becoming. I don't think this will continue with Fitts. He saw first hand what Earl Thomas did for that Seahawks D. It may take some time to find the right guy, but I think he'll be looking and not just constantly trying to find a JAG off the trash heap.

Charleston WR has virtual meeting with Panthers
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
The kid is a huge target that is very similar to Antonio Gandy-Golden who was drafted this year from Liberty. Both are huge targets with big play making ability. This sounds good until you look it up and see that Gandy-Golden caught one pass for three yards as a rookie after being drafted in the 4th. -
I would enjoy it, I just don't know how much traction it would get. It would probably only appeal to the hardcore football geeks.

Updated Cap for the 2021 Panthers

Yeah, I honestly don't think it's part of the plan. At least not currently. Now if a decent option becomes available for less than that plan can always change. -
Updated Cap for the 2021 Panthers
LinvilleGorge replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
We can save $4.9M releasing Paradis straight up. $8.5M if it's post-June 1st. That he wasn't announced today with the rest of the names tells me that we're at least going to hang onto him until we see what happens in FA and possibly the draft. We may be looking for a surprise cap casualty to become available. If we have a rookie QB we expect to play early, then we can't also rely on a rookie center IMO. -
I think he has a ton of potential. Gotta remember, he literally only has two years of experience playing defense at all. I do think he'll require a year or two of NFL experience and some patience to see what he'll become because of that though. He's going to get stuck on a lot of blocks and get caught up on the wash on a lot of plays early on in the NFL. But he definitely has the instincts and measurables to be a very good modern day NFL LB. I was somewhat disappointed he didn't make a leap forward this year after a year of playing MLB and I have to admit that I'm somewhat concerned that his backup who had minimal playing experience prior to the bowl game looked very good in his spot against a TAMU team that arguably should've been in the playoffs. Very surprisingly, missing Surratt didn't seem to have a negative impact at all for a defense that honestly wasn't very good. In my book that's a pretty big red flag for a guy who was basically the QB of the D. I honestly expected the D to look like trash without him and that wasn't the case at all. They competed well before they gassed out late. It was the opposite of Sam Howell who still looked like a stud despite missing both RBs and his #1 WR.
-
Yikes. He's still the same guy he was at UNC. An inconsistent player who can make some splash plays but makes more mistakes than good plays. He takes terrible angles and basically plays like a 4.5 guy who thinks he's a 4.3 guy. He isn't slow, he just thinks he's a lot faster than he actually is.
-
I'm a self admitted UNC fan boy and I've always recognized that Boston is not a starting caliber NFL safety. Some college fans just can't separate the college game and the NFL game and I mean that both ways. They'll either want a guy solely because he played at a certain school or they'll trash a guy solely because he played at a certain school and it cracks me up because neither can recognize their bias while vigorously finger pointing at the other group.
-
I'm honestly not sure if he still has name recognition. He's several years removed from being an elite player. This is the Not For Long league.
-
He very well may be. If he's back it needs to be cheap. Really cheap.

Panthers have interest in re-signing KK Short

If he returns I hope it's in a situational/rotational role. I'm fine with bringing him back, but his injury concerns are too significant these days to be counting on him playing a major role.
-
I've said it before, but I expect a lot more one year deals this year from players who would normally be signing multi-year deals. It's going to be a buyer's market in FA this year.
-
There's just not much else going on right now and with no upcoming Combine this year, every roster move made is going to get a lot more attention than normal simply because there's nothing else for the football media to talk about.
-
He probably wanted an opportunity to see if he had a chance at better $$$ as a FA.
-
Like seemingly every other player we release, it'll be interesting to see where he ends up - Washington or Buffalo.
-
I'm fine with KK returning on a deal that's more in line with who he is as a player these days and taking into consideration his recent injury issues.
