Thanks for the call this morning @Floppin. I was kinda relieved to hear they were taking the day off. I'm ready to shift gears and just focus on my own stuff for right now and focus my donation efforts toward when all the influx of outside volunteers wanes. The FB Karen's are not helping. URGENT NEED!!! here, urgent need there. Everywhere I've been there's been an overabundance of volunteers to the point that managing the volunteers effort is becoming the biggest job on the ground. Pay attention to the posts. They're all second hand. Someone I know there told me this or the police chief said this or I heard this. It's just a giant game of telephone that starts maybe with a kernel of truth and snowballs into a giant ball of bullshit ending in. A cluster fug of people rushing in to help. It's amazing and beautiful seeing all these people willing to help but it's become counterproductive at this point.

I've already built a helluva brush pile just from a few hours yesterday evening and this morning and I'm really just getting started.

Tony Grimes? He played for Carolina. I think he was one of the top CB recruits in the country. I'm confused by why he was actually covering that guy forcing a tough contested catch. He shouldn't have even been in the camera frame. That UNC "coverage".

Makes zero sense. Having teams in the same conference in time zones separated by three hours is just idiotic. Hawaii is a special case scenario for obvious reasons but outside of that it's just illogical.

Isn't Houston one of those programs that every semi-decent QB puts up video game numbers. I mean, Case Keenum threw for damn near 20k yards at Houston. LOL

I saw the bodies floating at the Spruce Pine Ingles rumor and it was pretty quickly shot down. There was also a rumor about naked kids running around screaming looking for the parents that was attributed to Spruce Pine. There are probably tiny kernels of truth behind all these rumors that then take flight and grow into something totally different. Yeah, there have been bodies found in streams. Yeah, there have been children separated from parents. All this poo has happened but these occurrences take off and grow like wildfire into something way more than what they actually were. The reality is plenty bad enough as is without hyperbole.

I just wanted to bring this back up to clarify that this was in no way meant as a slight toward Samaritan's Purse. They were doing good work and seemed like really good people. My selfish frustration about not finding a volunteer opportunity today that I felt was a worthy investment of the time and effort due to the massive influx of volunteers is whatever. They just had so many volunteers that they had to send them somewhere to do something so rich folks' vacation homes it was. On the positive side, it's amazing seeing the outpouring of support for an area that is often pretty much overlooked and forgotten about.

Got home and put in some saw time. I hacked my way into the widowmaker at least.

I didn't take pics on Old Fort yesterday out of respect but a lot of homes were just gone. Others washed a hundred yards or more downstream. All badly flooded. There were probably 5-6 vehicles piled up against the bridge. They were so mangled and partially buried that it was hard to tell exactly how many there were. Old Fort is the worst that I've personally seen so far.

I believe it. They've been mad as hell.

One of the specific things they were mentioning was Benadryl and epi pens. It makes sense. The yellow jackets were PISSED. I thought it was just around my house at first but then everywhere I went there were pissed off yellow jackets everywhere. They've settled down around my house so not sure it's still a big need or not but it was.
