  1. I think we'll TRY but that doesn't mean we'll succeed. A team has to be willing to come off of that pick and you have to have the most appealing trade offer. It's not slam dunk even if you try really hard. Not sure if I buy into this "not being one player away" mentality. Put Mahomes or Allen or Burrow or Herbert on this team. Now what are your expectations?
  2. It doesn't seem like we have much interest at top market value. I mean, if we like several QBs in the draft then the draft would be the smart move.
  3. Yeah, Trubisky definitely landed in a really shitty spot. I honestly don't know if he was ever going to be legit though. To ultimately make it as an NFL QB you have to walk that fine line between confident and cocky. You have to be confident nearly to the point of delusion but not allow it to teeter into cockiness where you don't put in the necessary work. I don't know that Trubisky ever had that. I want to see how Drake Maye plays next year. I'm not 100% sold that he has it either but his older brother Luke having it gives me hope that he does. That mentality I spoke of above is a big part of why I was so high on Sam Howell. He walks that confident/cocky line perfectly. Never too high, never too low, never gets frustrated or blames teammates, he just focuses on the things he can control and has utmost confidence in himself to deliver in those things. In the NFL things are going to go badly sometimes. You're gonna throw picks. You're going to fail to deliver in the clutch. You're going to lose winnable games. You're going to have some games where it feels like you can't do anything right. How do you bounce back from those things? That goes a long way toward separating the real deals from the pretenders.
  4. He's honestly an anomaly. I mean, a lot of the things that make him who he is are things you'd never coach a QB to do. Hell, a lot of them are things you'd specifically coach a QB NOT to do. He's Favre without the INTs. You're not supposed to be able to have the best of both worlds.
  5. Are you illiterate? I literally said the exact opposite. LOL!
  6. I'm glad he said this "Most recently, Zach Wilson's tape from BYU shared traits with that of Mahomes..." Because the whole time I was reading that's article I was thinking "Okay, now do Zach Wilson." LOL! Sooooo much of the QB position is between the ears. It's why it's such a tough evaluation. All the physical talent in the world just doesn't matter if you don't have the right mental makeup.
  7. We know. He had warts too. Didn't win in college. Turnover prone. Played in a gimmicky system that exaggerated stats. Don't try to pretend in hindsight like he was anything close to a perfect QB prospect.
  8. He's gonna sink or swim with this upcoming QB move.
  9. If you want to lose all this fanbase optimism momentum that hiring this staff has created, then stick with Sam Darnold with no legit competition. I just don't see any chance it happens. What happens if you're back at #9 next year? Rumblings that this much hyped staff is a flop. Consternation that we aren't anywhere close to being able to land a Drake Maye or Caleb Williams. Here's the reality. #9 is always too low to nab the mythological "can't miss QB prospect". You can absolutely land franchise QBs with a borderline top 10 pick but it's gonna be a prospect with warts. Will the warts end up mattering or not?
  10. Yep. It does feel nice to actually have a staff that looks worthy of trusting to make these evaluations though. If Levis turns out to be their guy I'll just hope that they're right and I'm wrong and root like hell for the guy.
  11. Appropriate post in a thread where the title starts off "I made a stupid mistake..." LOL!
  12. Here we are ready to take on the rest of the league following this trade.
  13. I think the Seahawks might be a sleeper destination for Rogers. Pete Carroll can't have many years left in the tank. Geno looked MVP caliber in the first half of the year but regressed a good way back toward looking like a journeyman as the season wore on. They still haven't resigned Geno or tagged him or anything, so what is their move at QB? At his age, I have a hard time seeing Carroll wanting to look to the draft for his next QB. They could still end up tagging Geno but I wouldn't be shocked if they came out of the blue and landed one of these vets like Rogers or Carr.
  14. If we want to run a two high shell, we probably either need to move Chinn to LB or trade him.
  15. Reich called his own plays with the Colts.
  16. Honestly, I'm very, very pleased with this coaching staff. Excited to see what they do at QB.
  17. No he didn't. I went to all but two Broncos home games that year because the company I worked for had a suite and I was the only CO based employee so I got the tickets by default unless some big wig was in town on vacation and wanted them. The Golden Calf of Bristol looked like trash running the base offense. He'd work his magic in the two minute drill. You just can't get a coach to build an offense where every play basically amounts to "scramble drill on three, break".
  18. Exactly. When an organization is willing to move on from a franchise caliber QB, red flags need to be flying. More often than not, in hindsight it was obvious why.
  19. This is basically Baltimore signaling that they think two 1sts is the absolute ceiling for what they could get for Lamar in a trade offer.
  20. Honestly, no. It would still mean a mega contract and two 1st round picks for a player that has been struggling with injuries.
  21. We're sitting at #9 in the draft. There's a really good chance the QB prospects we really want aren't gonna be there. Just reality.
  22. My first NFL jersey was a Browns Bernie Kosar jersey when I was probably a similar age. I just wanted an NFL jersey. The Panthers didn't even exist yet. Bernie Kosar's jersey was probably on the clearance rack at Belk's.
  23. If the Bears decide to take a QB at #1 and move on from Fields and we can get him for #9 overall and we like Fields more than the QBs we anticipate will be available at #9 then go for it. That's whole lot of "ifs" so it's highly unlikely to happen.
