  1. This is the way it should be, not the Rivera method of forcing square pegs into round holes because of "muh system".
  2. Yeah, I'm definitely not opposed to bringing him in for a tryout. I'd prefer Hooker, but I'll take what I can get.
  3. Shi Smith and Keith Taylor. Both late round draft picks. Both probably looking at being no higher than 4th on the depth chart within their position group. But both with considerable NFL upside IMO and both with the tools to be immediate impact players on ST too to secure their roster spots this year.
  4. Yeah, not making the team for the Cowboys on defense last year is a big red flag.
  5. With Chinn, I think you can look at a guy like Sean Taylor. Is he a FS? Yes. Is he a SS? Yes. Is he a LB? Yes. All that versatility is a great thing. I expect him to primarily align at the safety position, but the beautiful thing about a chess piece like Chinn is that tells the opposing offense virtually nothing. He can drop back and cover the deep third. He can pick up a TE or slot WR in man coverage. He can drop down into the box to essentially serve as a LB. He can blitz. He's a guy the opposing QB has to account for on every snap.
  6. I think he just couldn't find a job. I went ahead and said "two years" because he's had multiple tryouts this year too.
  7. I'm baffled by Clinton-Dix. I mean, he's literally never missed a single game in his career. Started every game since his rookie season. But for the last two years he can't even get a backup role?
  8. I made a comment. Y'all got triggered. It happens a lot. Toughen up. I wasn't even trying to take a shot. It was serious. The dude face planted and laid there for a decent amount of time because such occurrences are so common in that sport. That's reality. Stay mad about it.
  9. It's not a "weird" comment. Watch the video. There's literally a good 10+ seconds before anyone reacts. What other sport would have a guy go down like he was shot by a sniper and everyone basically just stand there like, "Yep. This is totally normal."?
  10. Yeah, the biggest difference year over year for the Bucs last year is that they went from Jameis throwing 30 INTs to Brady throwing 12. Jameis put up big numbers, he just turned the ball over waaaaay too much.
  11. If he doesn't retire it will happen at some point. Father Time is undefeated but Brady sure is putting up a helluva fight. Done.
  12. Different league though. Back in those days DBs could get away with murder compared to today. Ricky Manning Jr. pretty much had his career ended by the change in calling illegal contact.
  13. Don't sully Jake's name like that. If we get prime Jake level play out of Darnold we'll all be thrilled... and we'll be heading to the playoffs.
  14. Darnold has an MVP caliber season and we field a top 10 defense.
  15. That's scary. But since it's soccer, it took everyone a good 10-15 seconds to realize anything was actually wrong since comically exaggerated flopping is so intrinsic to the game.
  16. Anyone predicting Little to start anywhere - much less at LT - just hasn't been paying ANY attention to the Panthers over the past year and should refrain from making any predictions regarding lineups. It'll be a surprise if Little even makes the roster.
  17. Outside of that one game against a faded Fitz, Shaq has been decent at best in coverage. He's definitely been a disappointment in that department having come into the league billed as a S/LB hybrid. Unfortunately, he is. He covers like a LB and run supports like a safety. He's not a bad player by any means, but he's not a guy you pay. You pay Bradberry and let Shaq walk. Just IMO.
  18. That one game against a faded Fitzgerald is still the one thing people are hanging their hats on to convince themselves that Shaq is good in coverage. He's a decent starting LB. Nothing more, nothing less. Decent in coverage. Decent against the run. Decent blitzer. Decent. Hurney paid him to be top tier, but that's not Shaq's fault. Hurney is an idiot. Shaq is decent. He's a hard worker. He's well liked by staff and teammates. None of the issues with Shaq are Shaq's fault. He can't help that the standard of Panthers 1st round LBs is higher than he's achieved. He can't help that an idiot of a GM gave him a bloated contract. He can't help that same idiot of a GM let a better player at a higher value position walk for similar money.
  19. It blows my mind how some people create an argument that doesn't exist in their own heads. No one argues that Shaq isn't a decent starting LB. The issues people have with Shaq is that contract. We overpaid. Significantly. Luke was retiring and Hurney panicked. Hurney has always loved paying LBs anyway, it's not like he needed much nudging. And yeah, Shaq does not measure up to the standard of 1st round LBs for the Panthers but that's not really the issue. If Shaq's contract was half of what it is like it should be that wouldn't be an issue. It just adds salt to the wound when looking at that contract. The kicker was choosing to pay Shaq over Bradberry who signed elsewhere for similar money per year while being a better player at a higher value position. That's not Shaq's fault, but again just more salt in the wound.
  20. There's an endless list of reasons to hate that fuging guy. He's a piece of poo.
  21. I'm not giving Aqib Talib any clicks. fug that guy.
  22. We'll see. I was surprised we didn't draft a LB at some point. But without going back and looking at the complete draft order I can't say where or of I would've taken a LB over the pick that we actually made. If we're somewhat deemphasizing the position I'm definitely okay with that. We've historically way over-prioritized IMO. I would've just preferred to see some effort made to potentially backfill Shaq's spot to set ourselves up to part with that contract.
