  1. Kirk is damn average. He's Teddy with balls.
  2. LOL! Smith only came about 250 yards shy of Jones' passing totals in 2019 (1256 vs. 1503) and they both had 14 TDs. Smith was already putting up very good stats before Jones became the entrenched starter this year.
  3. Really gotta pay attention to the traits with the QBs coming from powerhouses. Lawrence has elite traits. He has a good arm, good mobility and athleticism, prototype size. It's obvious why he's an elite prospect. Fields has elite traits. He has the arm. He has the athleticism. He has good size. If he was more consistent he'd be locked in as the #2 QB. Jones just doesn't fit. He put up great stats. But when you single him out and specifically watch him instead if watching the game and the result, you're left pretty unimpressed. Pretty much everyone is in agreement that Trask isn't a very good NFL prospect but I'd bet money he would've out up very similar videogame stats.
  4. No. I was paying no attention to QBs in that draft class.
  5. We'll be active on the FA market too, but I don't necessarily expect a splash signing. I hope we give Moton a look at LT... or get a left handed QB.
  6. If we add a legit QB, Teddy won't need to be replaced. We'd just stick with Walker or a similar cheap option. Weatherly was terrible. His snap count was going down every week until he ended up on IR. He's already been replaced. I think we're going to spend at least two picks on OL and 3 wouldn't shock me
  7. What's done is done. He should've never been signed but he was. Now we gotta deal with it.
  8. Honestly, my favorite QB evaluation situations are non-powerhouse P5 schools. You get to see guys go up against top competition without having the overwhelming talent advantage that guys at places like Clemson, Alabama, OSU, OU, etc. enjoy.
  9. Beyond Surratt though, what did he have to work with? They also had the 95th ranked defense. He had to feel the pressure to put up basketball scores to have any shot.
  10. Teddy will only hit us for $15M as a post-June 1st cut. Stafford would hit us for $20M. We save $8M releasing Teddy. We'll save another $14.5M making Short a post-June 1st cut. We'll save $6M releasing Weatherly. We can free up another $5M if need be by releasing Paradis. $4M releasing Burris. $2M is we're done with Ian Thomas. There's plenty of fat to trim.
  11. If we don't trade for a legit QB and the right QB isn't there at #8, then let's draft a LT and take Newman in the 2nd. I'm so numb to watching the Panthers throw away 2nd rounders at this point that it wouldn't even hurt if he's a bust then we can go get Sam Howell next year.
  12. Great player and seems like a great guy. But, damn... that injury history. Very difficult to see him holding up at the NFL level.
  13. It's not about cap space, it's about trade bait. We are holding #8 overall. Indy has #21. There's a huge gap in that value. Detroit honestly might take #8 overall over #21 and next year's 1st from Indy. In terms of value in the draft chart they'd be roughly equal.
  14. Yeah, you don't acquire a 33 year old QB on a two year contract to look toward the future. It's why I'm not hugely excited about it. Stafford would be a huge upgrade, but parting with #8 and more would sting.
  15. Lavar Ball running his mouth and trying to stir the pot? Who could've ever predicted this? This is so out of character.
  16. Because everyone knows we desperately need a QB and they expect Lawrence, Fields, and Wilson to be gone.
  17. Man... it would STING watching Wilson go to ATL at #4. The Bengals would do backflips if Sewell fell in their lap at #5. Even with that amazing season he had, I'd still be surprised if Smith leapfrogged Chase.
  18. He's a guy who I think pundits will underrate vs. NFL teams simply because he doesn't make a lot of highlight reel plays. But he does all the little things and he's very reliable. He's a rare guy these days in that he's coming into the league as a true TE and not a jumbo slot WR who is going to have to learn how to play TE.
  19. I think he goes in the 3rd. It wouldn't shock me if he found his way into the late 2nd.
  20. Hunter Long is a player. He won't wow athletically, but he's not a bad athlete. He just does everything well.
